They brought down the servers for maintanence again! Whyyy!
I did not receive the mentioned "Deed Stake" when landing on Xanadu. Maybe those are being fixed to be given out before going live again? Darn it I am just sitting here spamming my launcher to try and get back in the game hehe.
Give me the stake and let me out to roam damnit!

Is this game still a pyramid scheme for the veterans milking their traders so they play for free while new players get screwed over paying for the veterans subscriptions?
Is this game still $15/Month for premium plus $5/Month for the smallest deed?
If they changed that i might give it a try, but i am not going to fall for this scam and subsidize the veterans deeds and Premium (on their multiple characters).
Its $10 a month and then around $5-10 for a deed
meaning for around $20 a month you can do anything and everything in the game and actually make money if you are incline to raises horses.
I am unclear why one would be concerned that others are playing for free while your subscription is still lower than average.

Read up on traders and how vets are milking them for silver from your premium while they play for free.
Since when are 10 Euro = $10?
Since when is $20 cheaper than AAA games that cost $15 even F2P premiums cost $15 only and you can level everything.
I understand the deed pay-wall but locking the skill levels too is just greedy.
1. 8 eruos not 10.
2. I said that 20 gets you all you can possibly stand from the game. in F2P that requirement would cost you more would it not?
try to understand I am saying for 20 gets you a large deed and you DONT NEED A DEED.
you act as if having a large deed is an entitlement

It's even worse here since vet players can get silver from the traders every month which is money from new players trickled down to them. They play entirely free while new players pay for them.
The game needs new players and after the price hike last year the player numbers began to go down and vets did not get as much silver anymore without the new players paying.
Hence we have this new campaign.
1. I said smallest deed, learn to read. No entitlement.
2. The game is pointless without a deed as you spend more time repairing than doing anything else and you know it.
3. $15 gets you everything in all F2P games. Land plots, housing, farms. Of cause you can spend more for cosmetics and exp boost but that is not what we are talking about here.
No point in arguing further. Last years price hike was greed and the dwindling player numbers show it. I guess that is why we see so much desperate promotion for this event right now.
The settlement form to found a deed costed me around $30. In the U.S. $15 gets you 6 silver. I think you can get 10 silver for $25 but I wanted to have a couple of extra silver afterward for upkeep. You're lying out of your fingers again.. And you never even touched on the fact that new players will be paying for the vet players' premium because they do indeed still milk traders. I ended up giving my deed away because half of it was used to keep animals, and after the AI changes the devs made, they converted all of their enclosure to packed dirt overnight.
Let me break this down for you:
I pay $30 for a decent sized deed so I can keep animals without fear of a Community Assistant bashing down my enclosure and killing them all, and brand them all so that if they get out during a server crash (which will happen a LOT) I can rest assured a GM will track them down and return them to me. Then they change the AI, half my animals stand in one spot, and starve themselves to death even when I drop food and replant grass on the tile they are standing on. Then they fix that, but mess it up so that they pack every tile they walk across, making me have to get rid of them.
I pay $30 for a deed so that I don't have to worry about my items decay. I go kill a ton of champion creatures and make an epic graveyard on half my deed, only to find gravestones decay on deed for some reason known only to Rolf. I put some high QL signs and other items inside my castle in case I need to use them at a later date. About a month later I decide I need to plant a sign, I go to get my sign, and it's gone, already decayed, despite me having more than two months of upkeep paid on my deed. My cochineals, glands, and unicorn horns keep depleting from my BSB, causing me to get paranoid and remove all my friends from my writ. The items continue to deplete, and I happen to come across a forum post complaining about the same thing. Items in your BSB will decay even if you have premium and upkeep on your deed paid.
Add on top of that paying $25 every two months for premium, and $15 every two weeks just to keep my THREE enchanted huge axes at a decent enough quality to slay a troll.... That's right, if I only used one enchanted huge axe, it would be wore out in a couple of days. So I actually had three made so that I could go longer between having to sail over to my buddy's and get my weapon(s) imped.
---------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, as I'm putting all this money into the game, the veteran players who are already overcharging me for everything are just milking traders and paying for their premium for free with the same money I put into the game. These same veteran players also have a tendency grief anyone into quitting who they think will cut into their market. They came after one fellow with torches and pitchforks when he decided to sell studded leather armor he made for 50 copper. And they also come on forums like this to try and convince new players to join and that everything in Wurm is just awesome so they have someone to sell their overpriced wares to.
It's 10x worse in Wurm than it is in other games. At least in most other games a new player can become a vet if they work hard enough. Even after playing this for a year you'll still be useless. The grind is just that steep.
Yes, it is still a pyramid scheme, the vets still milk traders, although they were whining on the forums the other day because they're getting less than they used to due to all the players that have quit paying premium lately, myself being one of them. The game is on its deathbed, that's why they are just now bothering to advertise, because the vets are losing their virtual income.
Yes, the game is still charging you just to raise your skills above 20.
Thank you for taking the time to point out this hippy dippy bologna to everyone. Sean here is determined to shill for this game, he's probably one of the veteran players who is bummed out about not getting as much silver from his trader anymore. Every time someone makes a negative reply, he chimes in like one of the ESO fanboys, "It's only fifteen dollars a month! Can you not afford that?"
Sorry Sean, some of us have already played Wurm enough to know that it's a scam.
1. a small deed + membership COSTS LESS THAN $20 A MONTH.
2. the game without a deed is not pointless MANY PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE DEEDS
3. $20 in wurm you can basically have EVERYTHING THE GAME AS TO OFFER. You are trying to tell us in a F2P game for $15 you can have EVERYTHING the game offers..not some things...EVERYTHING

1. And anything else you want in the game will cost extra, everything from armor, weapons, tools, a fast horse, etc. Plus the upfront cost for a deed is actually $30, on top of the premium cost of $15 a month, so it's not really under $20. You're just talking about the upkeep and premium, which even then you have to pay for seperately so that's $15 a month plus another $15 for six months of upkeep for a SMALL deed without a guard. With a guard it will last you about 3 months.
2. If you do not pay for a deed and pay the upkeep for a deed in Wurm, your house will decay, and assuming you're new and built it yourself it will take only a few weeks for that to happen unless you repair it often. And you'll have to repair every wall, every fence, every floor and roof tile. And you're going to have a high rate of failure when repairing, and even the failures will consume planks. Not only that, players can grief you and the Game Masters WILL NOT HELP YOU if you do not purchase a deed. If you lose all your cattle due to a server restart, the only way a Game Master will help you is if you have a deed, and have branded the cattle. If you do not pay for a deed, anyone can bash down your fences, kill your animals, and dig up your yard. And they will. So yes, playing without a deed is pretty pointless, I learned that the hard way.
3. You only have to pay for Minecraft once. A one time fee of $26 and you get EVERYTHING the game has to offer, along with all future content. There are many many more Minecraft servers than there are Wurm servers, and many many more Minecraft players too. Building in Minecraft just gives so many more options than Wurm it's near infinite.
1. If you go out and buy everything (armor etc) you are not even playing the game. Buying that stuff is FAR from a requirement to play. I made all my stuff or traded stuff I made. It sounds like you don't want to play the game you just want to come in and have god mode, well yes. On day one if you want a large deed, all the gear you can buy then it will cost you money no doubt. but that is not a requirement and its the same in all games
2. the prices I gave IS UPKEEP cost.
3. if you want to compare Wurm (which is about average to low average cost for an MMO) to Minecraft then fine do that, but its hardly fair to call a game over prices when by industry standards its actually lower (Minecraft is not an MMO)

2. If you do not pay for a deed and pay the upkeep for a deed in Wurm, your house will decay, and assuming you're new and built it yourself it will take only a few weeks for that to happen unless you repair it often.
Yes when you first start out your building will be in poor condition. One of the biggest aspects of the game is improving. Sure your walls will be a 10 -15 quality but it is easy to raise that to 20-30 just starting out. This will increase the time it takes to decay your building. You then repair the wall which brings the quality down then your improve it back up but this time you can make it even better quality then before because your skill has increased. I've seen un-deeded buildings last months without repair.
"And you're going to have a high rate of failure when repairing"
This is just not correct. The higher the repair skill you have the less quality is lost while repairing. It has nothing to do with the amount that is repaired per action. The time it takes to repair is based on your mind logic.
"If you do not pay for a deed, anyone can bash down your fences, kill your animals, and dig up your yard. And they will."
Yes this is technically true but rarely happens. If you actually talk to the community and get to know your neighbors before you settle in an area you will be fine, but the bottom line is to prevent this from happening deed the area.
glad I read this...no desire to try this game now.
1. No, it's not a requirement, but still necessary. Your assumption about me coming in and dumping a whole lot of money into the game to play it on Godmode is false. I played it for probably a year before I even bought proper gear. Until then I ran around in homemade chain or leather with a homemade huge axe, and you know how many monsters I solo'd that way? Zilch. Now you can rely on guards to tank monsters and manage to kill a few that way with poor gear, but if you want to travel very far away from any guard towers, you will NEED to be properly geared. Even at 70 FS if I go around in 60 ql leather armor with a 20 ql huge axe, I am going to die against things that would barely scratch me if I was wearing 60 ql steel plate with a 70 ql huge axe. I know that from experience, I tested it out myself outside my old castle.
2. Right, and I simply stated the INITIAL INVESTMENT.
3. Minecraft is a Massively Multiplayer Online game. I'm going to be nice though and not even insult you for that one....
