How do you handle being in a rut?

I know we all peruse this site since we all want to play a good MMO.  Some of us have found a MMO that meets our needs while others have not.  I tried a whole bunch of games and rarely do I find one that stands the test of time(a year or so to be more specific) I have found the latest offerings Wildstar, Archeage, ESO, ect. not to my liking.  Now I want to be clear, I am not saying those games are bad,  as I can see the value others would see in them, but for me, there is nothing out that is new to get my attention.

I do go and play some older titles I enjoyed, but quite often I lose interest again after a few weeks and find myself in the same boat.  I use steam to circumvent the issue, but the sad reality is I tend to find games I can play for awhile and even finish, but they lack any replay value for me.  As gamers, I know we share games in common, but when you go through a rut, do you walk away from games for awhile?  Do you keep searching for games to play?  Do you go back and play games you previously enjoyed?   There are some games on the horizon I am looking forward to, but as is the case so often, I am not sure they will live up to my expectations or desires.

I know its easy to read a thread like this and formulate all kinds of opinions, but I am curious how you address these moments.   Thanks.
