Earn in Secondlife

Hi! I would love to have more information on how to earn in Secondlife. I mean, not the content-selling stuff, I'm not that talented in building/creating stuff. I just need some ordinary jobs like being a butler or sales person, stuff like that. If you have any input, please post them here to help me and other players out there who are looking for a more meaningful gaming. Roleplaying is fun, earning while roleplaying is even better!

Thanks in advance! image

Outside of what was mentioned honestly unless your pockets are deep and you wanna throw alot of money away into owning land to rent out homes and such stuff like that or you either build or write scripts or design the only jobs are club and adult themed jobs. Most women, not all, but most women who join their first job is either a exotic dancer or a virtual hooker. Unless you can break into the club scene as a DJ, host, etc. etc. most jobs are adult themed in nature sadly. Guys have it a bit more harder. My first job was as a club bouncer and then later on I became a club promoter and would find jobs for girls for a fee basically pimping them to the highest bidder. I didn't care for it so I quit and eventually got a job as a doctor on a rp sim so unless you can find a job on a rp sim or helping someone who sells land or runs a store there is not many jobs in SL. Alot of it depends on who ya know as well. I was a professional boxer towards the end of my SL days, but honestly I did that more for the fun then the money. In short SL sucks when it comes to finding jobs unless you wanna be a pimp or a whore. lol Sounds rough, but it's the truth. Most females I know or met that now run a business or build on SL whored their way to the top and get mad when you remind them of that cold reality and say well it was my avatar and not the real me. No lie. lmao

There's a few ways to make isk in life.

Lose money.   Make investments that won't ever pay themselves back, things like multi-sim purchases and similar.

Do something no one else can do.   Mostly in the form of scripting/building and similar.

Do something someone else does but cheaper.  Mostly in the for m of scripting/building again.

Do something else no one else wants to do.   Mostly in the form of things like customer service and similar.

Know people and get the hook up.  To allow you to do things like "play the DJ" and "be the host".

Be dominated by someone else, and get paid for it.

Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.

One way to earn L$ is by referring friends to Surreal Estates. I believe she gives 10% of their first payment for every successful referral. You can just IM her directly :)

There are many ways to make money in Second Life.  It just takes a bit of creativity.  I will give you one.  There are many designers who create "modable" merchandise for resale.  You can buy these items from them for one set price and then either set up a store or simply place them on the market place for a marked up price.  Like any other business this takes a little bit of business savvy.  In other words, your level of profit will depend on how well you price and market your items when compared to the competition.

You have to be creative no matter what. No one is just going to hand you a job. If you want to be a model in SL, you need to have what it takes to make your avatar look good. You have to be willing to put money into SL in order to buy the things you need. You absolutly need to have a mesh body now if you want to be model which run you about 3 to 8 dollars depending on which one you get. Another 3-5 dollars for a decent looking skin. You'll need various hair as well. You can usually skin and hair at super bargain prices like less than 1 cent. same deal if you want to be an escort (prostitute).

I'm not joking when I tell you that being an escort and a stripper in Second Life makes you good money. However, you have to be extremely unique to get attention. I mean, the more niche your theme is, the more popular you'd be. If you're just a generic pretty girl you'll be a dime a dozen. Super common.

If you want a more dignified job that makes money that isn't making and selling stuff, that would probably be working as a manager for a club or mall or something. No one needs store managers in SL because thats not how stores work. They're like only store like amazon. There's also peopel who teach in SL, but it's mainly volunteers.

No matter what you do, you ahve to put in a lot of effort to make money. I've personally made about $90k over the last 10 years from doing various things. Ran a casino back when it was legal, ran a strip club (no money in running a strip club. only in being a stripper), now i make and sell stuff. That's where the money is. I'm not bold enough to get into real estate, but that is where the real money, I'm talking $100k+ a year if you do it right and on a large scale, but it's literally full time work. It can go from 40 hours a week to 80 hours a week if you're not careful.

There aren't any jobs like being a butler or bodyguard because those are meaningless and worthless in second life. You'd only be able to roleplay something like that. If you have a talent then you can try to turn it into a service. There are some people making a lot of money doing profile pictures. There's only 2 or 3 people who are excellent at it. They repaint screenshots and make them look really really good for like $10-$25. There are hundreds of people who know the basics of photoshop and try to sell profile pictures, but they're just terrible at it. So for something like that, you really have to be good at your craft, not just a hobby you picked up and only know the basics of.

Learning to build is simple in Second Life if you're an artist. Learning the script in SL is very easy if you've learned any kind of programming languages before. The best thing to do is to just dive right in and do something and see if you can develop a talent.
