I've signed up for some many beta events over the past year, I just clicked this when it came to my inbox, not recalling anything about it. I should have done something... anything else.
The one thing I thought might make this game somewhat good was the fact that combat was a cross between pint and click and interactive; you at least have to be in range and make contact to hit. That's it. That's the end of the "uniqueness" of this game. Sometimes, that "unique" quality even works against you as you clip into, around and through the target you're attacking and all you can do is button-spam your attacks. At least point 'n click targeting would have solved that.
The rest of this game is old, boring, tired and dated. If you've played any of the dozens of WoW clones or WoW over the past 10 years, you've seen everything this game has to offer you. Move along.
At one point I grew so bored with the horrible questing-loop, I abused the poorly rendered mountains to skip ahead to much higher level zones. And to my horror, it all still looked, felt and acted exactly the same as the place I left... only things could kill me easier.
The only word for that is "BAD" and that's all this game is.

they have 3 different control settings, im using the cross hair one so no clicking at all.
anyways im waiting to try the pvp which might make it different from other mmos.
Have to agree with you, this one is a complete pile of garbage.
1. Some genderlocked classes. (occultist, etc)
2. Horrible controls.
3. Latency, lag, and general delay times on all actions, removes ALL sense of any action combat, damn near feels like turn based combat.
4. Entire "ROLES" are race-locked. Want to play a machine faction human healer? Tough sh*t, gotta play a dwarf or play the other faction entirely.
5. Game just feels like crap, not sure why exactly, just gives a low production value vibe throughout everything.
To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.
Yeah...not gonna be as harsh....but I am skipping this. Not even close to what they hyped. Seems like some of the worst F2P titles. I felt like none of what I did in game made sense except to forward my level in game. I know that sounds odd...but what I mean is it is very robotic and handed to you. You did what they said with no effort....and got levels and crap
/bleh
Uh another player that doesnt figure game is behaving strangely because of server lag.
The game is pretty much Avatar with steampunk instead sci-fi.
Action based combat like Wildstar
And plenty classes
Faction PVP with territory control.
Now its F2P game so dont expect same quality of 200 million dollar game like ESO or Wildstar

Are you serious!?!?!
The game is terrible! It's a slap in the face of steampunk. City of Steam beats it...tell you anything?
btw...what is Avatar? And why mention it if it is this bad?
You've never heard of Avatar, the biggest grossing movie of all time?
Yeah...I guess my point is made then.....
You are saying this is like Avatar....but only in the most horrible game ever...and in Steampunk?
You want to play quality game ?
Cough 60$ + 15 each month and stop complaining
This game is bad that it hurts. And that is really shame. This settings and world might become great place to stay. But everything in this game seem glitchy, half or cheap. Not one thing i can say that this game doing great. Something is mediocre but something is really bad.
I was hoping for much better game. I have feeling in this game that i playing web browser mmo from facebook. And i play a lot mmo, so i have experience with betas and alphas. But this is too much.
I was looking for a really good f2p WoW clone but this doesn't even deserve that title. I made it to lvl 15 today and got to experience several different aspects of the game. The only thing this game has going for it is the character creation... that's it.
This game feels terribly dated other than the graphics. The fonts and user interface used in the game make it feel very cheap and old. The controls are often unresponsive or delayed due to server lag. Jumping is absolutely useless in this game, you basically just pause in the air. Even navigating the terrain can be really bad. I've found my character getting snagged on nothing more than flat land. I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do with half of the things that I get from quests because it's just too much nonsense. Why am I upgrading some sword as a mage type? Recharge energy? What are all these components? Crafting? I can't craft til lvl 18 so why am I getting my inventory cluttered with components?
I tried an arena match at 15, I was put against a lvl 25... gg. The battlefields (instanced pvp) are complete garbage. The classes have obviously not been balanced at all. The objectives are very lame. PVP combat feels glitchy (actually just combat in general feels glitchy). The dungeons are lifeless with no sense of danger or purpose... no challenge.
This game feels like it should have been released years ago before all these great subscription mmorpgs went free to play. This is basically a Perfect World clone but it's actually probably worse.
I gave this a try... and uninstalled after a moment. Terrible controls (some mix between tab and "action"), eager to milk your wallet at every corner (items with duration?!)... Combat is wonky, unresponsible. Mobs in dungeons appear right in your face, which is not really good on ranged character.
Yeah, move on and don't waste your time on this.
Born from blood,
trained to kill,
ready to die,
but never will!
If you tried Black Gold Online this weekend and didn't like it, I urge you to give it another chance. It's actually a really fun and interesting game once you get past its initial stages.
Levels 1-15 are basically an extended tutorial and the game really begins after that. There's a ton of content and some very innovative ideas. It took me a while to get used to the game, but now I'm almost level 40 (maxlvl) and I feel like this might be the sleeper MMO hit of 2014. Remember that even WoW is super boring in the beginning - you gotta play these games for more than 10minutes to give them a chance. A lot of things like the UI, controls, latency etc are being worked on as this is still a "beta" product.
Remember that it is a F2P game so the level of polish won't be quite as high as an AAA title. There is a bit of a learning curve, so I recommend taking some time and learning about the different mechanics of the game instead of treating this like any other MMO. It's a very different experience from other games you might have played. Try getting to level 20 (takes about 1-2 hours) and having an open mind before deciding if the game is for you.
Charging people for gear? The heck are you talking about?
Since when is Tuesday a direction?
