The Elder Scrolls Online received its latest major content update this week after several smaller fixes and updates. Additionally, June brought another “road ahead” from the team, which, combined with the latest update, look to address some of the game’s ongoing issues, yet also raise some questions (and an eyebrow or two). While other updates and balance tweaks to classes, stamina, and other matters are also being addressed, this week, we’re diving into the June update and the latest road ahead for the game to bring four things that stand out the most and the potential impact upon the game.

Too late for me. I've already quit the game and fully removed it while I still have 2 weeks to go from the timecard I bought at launch...

they seem to be listening to the wrong whiners.
I'd say "too little too late", but that statement implies there was something they could have done now that wouldn't have been too little at this point in time. There's no single patch that can redeem this failure of a game.
The only thing they could do to have a shot at getting back their initial investment is to get another investment and go the route of Final Fantasy 14. Apologize to the fans of the Elder Scrolls series, sympathize that this game is garbage and an unworthy successor that has done nothing but harm a brand name, and go back into development for another year or two.
Except, people in FFXIV barely got past level 10 before jumping off the boat. So they came back. You are talking about a good chunk of the population ine the Veteran levels so 50+ levels under the belt. Drop them now and you won't see them return

Jeeze, I miss MMORPG.com's more strict mods... It's like people can just sling vile language and call people names now without any consequences.
If you don't agree with others then state your opinion in an intelligent manner for goodness sake because no one is going to take a person seriously when they just come off as angry, defensive, and rude.
Anyways, to the topic, TESO needs to improve and it needs to improve fast. The quests are great but grouping is a pain and a lot of the time it doesn't even feel like you're playing an MMORPG but a single-player game. It doesn't seem like Zenimax are capable of making TESO into an Elder Scrolls game that manages to also feel like an MMORPG; At least not a good MMORPG.
If this was a single player game it would be decent but as of now there is just something missing that leaves the community aspect, that makes or breaks an MMORPG, feeling like it's lacking.

This is the problem with all MMO's gamers used to care about friendship and hanging out while they game, now a lot of gamers want to find a guild to get something out of them, and its not friendship..
I have seen this more and more, and I have played and ran a guild since 1998.. Not all gamers are this way, but there are more and more acting this way.. Which is sad really..

I see lots of people in-game, seems that the posters here are the people that quit and now have nothing to play.....
This is the community aspect that seems to be lacking in a lot of MMORPGs these days. I can never make friends in MMORPGs anymore unless people want something from me. It's really sad but I guess it reflects a large portion of current society.

I totally agree. Just wish that the games today weren't so geared toward that play style. You could almost say they encourage it.
As far as TESO goes Zenimax dropped the ball by not sticking to the original plan of 3 distinct factions and being able to gain xp from all activities. They also needed more time to fix the grouping issues and all the bugs. I still think the internal struggle with in Zenimax on wether to make a true to ES w/ coop or Matt Frior's vision of DAOC2 in ES skin.. They should have gone one way or the other not this in between bs.

He's right, ESO needs to focus on what is does different than the other MMOs not tread in their footsteps. A sandboxish (note the -ish on the end. We're not talking about full sandbox here but hybrid open world fantasy game.) MMO would suit Elder Scrolls gamers far better than the DAoC, WHO, every tri-faction PvP end game MMO that is now coming out of the woodwork clone it's trying to be.
Make TESO a online world in Tamriel and you've got your market. Ignore that and the locked in fans your I.P. draws will evaporate leaving you only the fickle Tri-faction PvP gadfly's that jump from game to game faster than Call of Duty releases.
Of course I said this years ago, but hey I'm not going to succumb to a Cassandra complex just because MMO game devs aren't creative.
'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.
When your head is stuck in the sand, your ass becomes the only recognizable part of you.

ZENIMAX need to do something about the VR grind, it was an HUGE mistake. ESO is a great game but they are losing players way too fast and sadly Caglorn is turning into a ghost town.

I might sound a little pessimist but for me every patch is a headache. Every maintenance and patch brings more bugs and errors than solutions. The last patch broke all the add-ons saved variables. I've been playing since beta and I still don't see ay significant improve in the game. It seems like I was still playing a beta version. Half of the friends I had since launch dropped the game and a lot of add-on devs also quit.
I am even thinking of dropping the game but I guess I'll give it one more month and see how it goes.
It seems like a lot of people burned out on the VR levels myself included. Plus it kills the replay ability of the game by having one character run through all the quests instead of making an alt to start in the other zones.

You can add me to the list of those who cancelled their sub. I have been playing since head start and just recently got a player to VR1. I only get an hour a day or so to play. I'm slowwwww.
1-50 was the best in terms of any leveling experience I have ever had in an mmo. The experience after that is probably the worst. I can only play for short periods of time and at different times of the day. That worked fine from 1-50 since I didn't have to rely on a group to get things done. expect for the 4-man's. Now that I'm VR1 it's almost a requirement to be in a group to get anywhere. The grind is horrible (one reason I dislike eastern mmo's).
I'm taking a break from all mmo's for a good while and give ESO another shot down the road. I hope they revamp the end game and make it more enjoyable. They need to get new people to balance the game. I think the same devs who tried to balance Warhammer Online are doing it for ESO.

When I read this I thought to myself, 'it's obvious Microsoft and Sony tested the game and said, "No way are we going to let you put this on our consoles! You've got to fix this stuff, then we'll talk!"

I can only speak from my experience that I have noticed a huge decrease in bots and chat spam. In fact for the last week or so, I haven't seen any. It is obvious that they have made a huge difference in this realm.
As far as the game itself, it still is missing some of the things I gave feedback in beta and I'm concerned about what I will think when I get to VR1 (currently at level 46), but in general this is still my favorite MMO. Maybe I enjoy it so much because I pace myself :-).

ESO is one of the best and grown up MMOs out there. There are I guess at least 50% of the gamers VR already or approaching soon to it. Most ppl are complaining about the "missing endgame" which ZOS is reacting on with these - Crypt of hearts, gear, VR Dungeons.
With Craglorn they bought an option to us, to climb up the VR ranks pretty fast. If you group up a VR Level can made by quests within 3 hours. If you don´t care about farming XP it will bring you a VR Level within 1-2 hours. So you have options now: single players play through the Enemy Alliances, Group players go VR Dungeons or quest in Craglorn and these with no patience grind up to VR12 within a week. These are much more options, as in many other Games to play beyond VR1.
When I look at the forums there are 2 factions of leavers: the once who find ESO to much TES alike and cannot handle the differences to they standard-mmo the others who think its not as much TES as it could be - so at the end of the day ZOS wont get both factions happy. Imo they should stay on course. They brought so many fixes and new stuff also within 3 Month like not many mmos else.
I havent seen bot trains for some weeks now, they disappeared or they are so few - not worth to mention anymore. Same with Goldseller Mails, didn´t get one for 2 or 3 weeks now.
I was in the Starter Areas last days for we made up some twink-levelgroups in my guild and als was with my VR3 Templar in theLev 20-40 Areas (Lorbook hunting ^^) and there are still a lot people around there, also there are every week new players to join us...so I guess ESO isn´t as "dead" as the most of the haters would like to see it.

There will always be the minority who will love their favourite niche MMORPG (which typically entails a rose coloured glasses view of the game). This is generally fine, but the problem here is that ESO should have been better than a niche game who only appealed to a minority of gamers with 'different' tastes. The IP deserved better.
Everyone has their own unique view of how this game should be. So it's not surprising that they can't please everyone.
Personally, I think they are doing an amazing job. It's clear that they are committed to making the game great.
I wish that the ESO threads were moderated like the threads belonging to any game with a "W" in the title. The same trolls are getting tiresome.. Especially those with catch-phrases that are no longer relevant - as in those issues are already fixed, find some fresh bile to spew to make yourself feel better.
Please Note: I'm done arguing with unreasonable people with an agenda and/or those that fail to see logic.

It's true, there are some actual trolls in these threads. But 9 times out of 10 what is identified as trolling is actually just "this person doesn't like what I like". Just as you are entitled to stating your opinion that the game is good, then others are entitled to their opinion that the game is poorly done. Both views are perfectly valid and allowed in an article about the game.
