Alright so I was playing a friendly game with my friends, and I was playing Chaos Space Marines, he was playing Ultra Marines. I had Typhus (Super BA Nurgle Dude in Terminator Armor). He was just tearing crap up, and then I got in a challenge with one of his Sergeants. Obviously I slaughtered the crap out of his face. In my army you get to roll a D66 to see what reward (if any) you get on the Chaos table if you slay a enemy character in combat. The only bad thing on the table is if you roll a 21 or 22. I rolled a 2, then another 2. Typhus, my super expensive killing machine, then turned into a chaos spawn and died.

Favorite moment - watching the extended DoW 2 trailer when the tyranid something drops on the Space marine and he grabs the chainsaw with that look on his face - Now you PISSED ME OFF and goes to slay that thing.

getting back in to the game after a 15+ year break. and seeing my son (who's 3) fall in love with space marines, and want to look at all my picture books and tell me "dad i can't wait till we can play space marines together"

My favorite story is the one I tell all the new comers to 40k Tabletop. I started out playing at the dawn of 3rd edition with people at my game store and they had some amazing players. I was a young guy looking to have some fun and they asked if I wanted to play. The second I said yes, they wisked me away and ran me through the ringer. I ended making great friends that beat me senseless until 4th edition was about to release. On the night before the new edition was coming out, I played one more game against the best player at our store. We went back and forth for 3 grueling hours and one the last die roll of the game where my Azrael (Dark angels master), squared off against Typhus of the death guard in one on one combat, I rolled extremely well, he rolled extremely poorly and with killing Typhus, I had won my VERY FIRST GAME in an epic duel before a change of editions! It is a story passed down to all the young guns so they know never to give up....even if you're as bad as I am

My favorite moment was witnessing a tabletop battle between the Eldar and the Space Wolves.  Jain Zar rolled all 1's in a duel against Ragnar Blackmane - the Eldar player took it well as it was so ridiculous.  Ragnar did not roll 1's and won the fight, but he wasn't too proud of the victory.

My favorite experience?

Actually starting.  I went into a shop (that just so happened was offering free painting lessons) and participated.  Afterwards I asked for a demo game, and they were happy to help me learn.  

I led a group of noob nobs (WAAAGH!!!/lol) to victory against humie space marines.

My best 40k experience was playing the first Dawn of War game. I think the campaign of that game is still the best adaptation of Warhammer 40,000 universe: dark atmosphere, amazing sounds, good dialogues and a perfect story. It felt like having a window to the gothic world of 40k. Dawn of war 2 was good but eventually ended with a bad title (Retribution), but no game or game cinematics so far has trasmitted those feelings as the first DoW did. Hope Eternal Crusade will

My favorite tabletop experience was in second edition I was playing imperial guard in a mass melee and 2 armies teamed against me. (Khorne army and a traitorous space wolves legion) I had my psykers open up a gate power next to kharne and the other end next to the space wolf terminators. Then a nice assail power pushed kharne through the gate and he was forced to kill them and move into the bulk of his allies army and I watched them turn upon each other. Always trust heretics to be a traitor even to each other.

My favorite experience must be from dan abnetts titanicus book, still remember those gigantic fights and how dan described connection with pilot and titan. or how described those discharges of titans weapons. Awesome stuff!

Bringing my Heldrake into play from reserves only to have it get blown out of the sky immediatly by a lucky roll from a Dark Angel squad.

My brother got a kick out of that.

Playing an Eldar 40k army for the first time with friends and totally stomping my friends Chaos Demon army and realizing I had just found my army. The mobility and variety of troop types makes it a fun and fast army to play.

My Favorite experience has to be playing Dawn of War II, it's what got me into the hobby and I just have so much fun playing that game. The fun I have playing that game is what keeps me pumped to play Eternal Crusade, to rise above with my Space Marine Brothers to defeat the enemies of the Imperium.  There's just something about Dawn of War II that brings life into reality, when I play the game I feel as if I'm one with the chapter that makes the gameplay that much better.

My favorite Warhammer 40k experience was a few years back playing the rts games with a buddy of mine. We ended up rallying back from a massive deficit to win.

My favorite moments were when I would finish painting a model. I played but I really enjoyed painting my Eldar models.....especially the harlequins!!!!!

The first game where in I deployed my Dark Angels Veterans squad, all equipped with melee weapons. I was playing against orks. I attacked the mob of about 20 with my veterans, I utterly decimated all of them and it was amazing.

My favourite Warhammer 40k experience is when I first discovered the game when me and my brother walked into a Games Workshop store almost 2 decades ago. Led us to discovering our favourite table top game and one of the best IPs

I just love the 40k universe.  Absolute favorite times come from Space Marine game's PvP so much fun and the combat really felt good.

When i was a kid my big brother started collecting tabletop warhammer. 

He chose to collect lizardmen because it was the race he liked the most.

He used to bring home these white books full of pictures of all the figures of the different races. 

 

My favorite by far were the orcs.

 

I loved those goblins swinging the big balls on chains, squig herders were cool too.

My brother eventually ended up with a huge army of lizardmen, but he had no one to play with.

So i bought a few goblin regiments, sadly my hands shake too much so i werent able to paint them.

 

My brother taught me a lot of english while we were studying the rule books together, it really helped me alot in learning english.

We played a few games and of cause i lost.

Later we have also played DoW against each other, i always picked the orks.

 

Some christmas my brother was gifted a 40k ork warboss by someone who didnt know the difference between 40k and normal warhammer.

My brother knew orcs/orks were my favorite race.

So instead of returning it to get something else, he built it and painted it knowing that my shaky hands would never have been able to.

He then gave me the warboss as a gift and for many many years i had that awesome looking ork warboss standing on my desk so i could look at it every day.

 

We still sometimes install DoW and play together.

My faverite experience has always been in the dawn of war games. I remember as a little kid, buying warhammer 40K, Dawn of war at walmart, because it looked like a game that had little lego guys on it, haha. while it was not legos, it did become one of my all time faverite strategy games, and I still play dawn of war, and dawn of war 2 with my brother quite frequently, and can not wait for eternal crusade to release.

A few years ago I was in a cafe with a friend near a games workshop store in Dublin when 2 young kids came in and ran over to their mother who was having a cuppa at the table beside us. They were hounding her for some money to buy a few figures but she didn't have the any. I made a spur of the moment decision and sat down beside her and introduced myself & told her I had a few armies that I no longer used, and would she like to come out and collect them, for free. She was delighted & the kids, well, they went nuts. That weekend they arrived and when they left there wasn't much room in their fiat for the kids with all the extra scenery and odds they packed in.

I love the game but I hadn't played it in years, no point in it going to waste in my attic. I did hold onto my hard back W40k Rouge trader rule book though.

My favorite 40k experience was probably when my friend Gerry wanted to see what my Dark Eldar could do upon their 6th edition release. So I loaded my Raiders full with warriors, focus fired my Ravangers on his Deft-dreads, and turbo boosted my Wyches to a round 5 victory where I held all the objectives, decimated all his orcs but a few foot soldiers, and merely lost 5 models all game. After that, people only wanted to play against my Tyranids.

So far my favourite experience regarding the Warhammer 40K universe have been the novels, with special mention to Dan Abnett's Inquisitor series. I encorage you all to enjoy the black library novels, it´s a lovely experience that will give you more 40K background
