MMO's with the least amount of instances.

Which MMO's have the least amount? PvE preferred but PvP is acceptable. Traditional style more or less even though FFXI was my favorite. Any recommendations? Thanks.

    Here are a few:

    Asheron's Call

    EVE Online

World of Warcraft (PVP and raiding aside)

Not out yet, but ArcheAge has all that you mentioned and more traditional style MMO (tab-targeting).

I am pretty sure that the last time I played Eq2, every zone had a loading screen. Not so much with WoW.

Vanguard has over 120 dungeons and not one of those are instanced dungeons all are open world. Some are so vast they take weeks and days to complete spanning multiple levels.

Darkfall Unholy Wars has no instancing.  Its a huge world that has a handful of dungeons that you can zone into.  It's main calling though is PVP so that might put you off as it has full loot pvp.  I love to both pve and pvp, so for me its awesome to pve with real risk of losing the stuff you are farming for.

instances are not about loading screens  (altho i guess that's one definition)

using early Everquest as an example

EQ1 had zero instances (until Lost Dungeons expansion)

and every zone had a loading screen

EQ2 had a hybrid model of some private dungeons and some public dungeons

Funny, take a boat across the ocean... loading screen.  Enter a battleground... loading screen.  Leave a battleground... loading screen.  Enter an arena... loading screen.  Leave an arena... loading screen.  Go through a portal... loading screen.  Enter an instance... loading screen.  Leave an instance... loading screen.  Enter a raid... loading screen.  Leave a raid... loading screen.  Enter the game... loading screen.  Leave the game... loading screen.  Die... loading screen (technically an abrupt loading screen).  Watch a cinematic... loading screen.  Exit a cinematic... loading screen.

you are looking for something that does not exist, that is PVE without instances.

If you mean PVE only, then I agree with you.  You can solely PVE in Darkfall and it doesn't have any instances, but it comes with pvp.

Did I ever imply that wasn't the case?

BTW, all of what you wrote, also applies to EQ2...you know, the thing the poster I quoted was comparing to WoW. The difference is that you were wrong about the "enter an area...loading screen" in WoW....there are no loding screens between zones/areas in WoW. If you are talking about continants with that, you already mentioned the boat thing, no need to list the same loading screen twice.

Anything to bash WoW for some I guess.

i call that pvp haha^^ on a serious note, indeed if you are not looking for something elaborate pve wise, there are several mmorpgs out there that could interest you.

however, you should not expect some quality pve from such type of games, and most are pvp oriented. if you do not mind the open world pvp, i would recommand archeage which will enter beta phase in mid-late july. i'm sure that game will give you much to do as long as you can accept the concept of getting ganked at anytime

Re-read the list.  Everything that I listed has a loading screen (sans death, it's an abrupt "poof" your now located here screen). I list loading screens twice when entering/exiting results in a loading screen... hence entering a portal it's only listed once.  It's not bashing WoW, it's just stating how WoW works.

Instances and loading screens are not the same thing. Eq1 had no instances pretty planes of Power, that doesn't mean it didn't have loading screens though.

I think you should re-read MY post, I agreed that everything you said was accurate, except the enter area part. WoW areas do not have loading screens, its a seemless world. The only map loading screens are continents or portals, which you already listed, ...same thing with deaths. I didnt say your "enter and exit" is listing them twice...i said saying areas and boats/portals is listing the same loading screens twice.

My "anything to bash wow" was also more towards the fact that you replied to a comment about EQ2, yet every, single, thing, INCLUDING the area loading screen comment, applies to EQ2 as well. Color me perplexed....

I can't believe my true statement about EQ2 zones producing loading screens when WoW's do not, turned into this little exchange here...

Again, anything to bash WoW I guess....

Show me where, in MY POST, where I said entering area is a loading screen.  You keep saying I said it and I keep telling you I didn't.  READ IT... QUOTE IT IN RED.  HIGHLIGHT IT.  IT'S NOT THERE.  It's in your posts, not mine.
