I was just checking out the update for the 14th. Devs said the patch notes are up to 42 pages. That means that this game is going to be completely different and why it will be offline for 24 hours or more. It sounds like a complete overhaul of the game. God i hope this game is going to be good. FPS style gameplay pve/pvp. I have been hoping for a game like this. Real FPS pvp in a mmo. This is the only kind of pvp i like. The game reminds me of Tribes which i played to death. Man let this be good.

This year it seems to be copying GuildWars2. Complete with gimmicky PVT builds-only Tequatl raid, throw-away storyline & "grind for your Alts" content having nothing to do with the "colossal Bad Things" the game was actually supposed to be about, and even a Gem Exchange to top it all off.
Next year they will probably start copying Planetside harder, or Wildstar. It's a real tossup at this point depending on which is more successful: the open world Gankfest, or the stupid "Dodge this incredibly long Telegraphed 1-hit, and then Zerker it down with a Chain Gun / Powerfield" fo FAT L00tz!!!".
There were so many updates to this game from its first inception that I swear my client was broken and just a jumbled mess so I finally just uninstalled and quit trying for about 4 months as the game definitely was getting frustrating as it would be new every time "almost weekly" and lots of the things I liked were gone with some new crazy ideas I hated, personality disorder indeed. Though now I decided to give it another go and gotta say i'm thoroughly and completely impressed and since this is basically official early access this SHOULD be the final vision.
Hopefully all they do from here is add and tweak the basic formula cause gotta admit I love that it is now at "the end" essentially what it was in the beginning, a loot fest.
Love the new more colorful graphics, the new loot system instead of the god awful battle frame upgrade loot only, the new crafting system is so refined and easy to use and understand as well as the battle frame system also as it is WAY more streamlined and simplified. The questing system is also in place and much better than the crappy unfocused one before.
Through all the bullshit i'm happy with this final result and I have to say Firefall has turned into what I hoped it would be minus a few tweaks and additions the core game at this point is finally solid thank god. I was getting a headache with all the previous dumb ideas, good to see they are and have gone with more tried and true old school concepts.
i think they finally got it to the point where all it needs is a tweak here and an adjustment there and it'll be a long lasting and successful game.
i play it as a side-project mmo (though i try to logon once a day at the minimum for the login streak thingie) and i could see it becoming a main MMO if it got a little more depth without sacrificing the story and character progression.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Toted for years on its lack of level-gated areas and progression system, then at the last minute they go the generic MMO leveling system with content gating.
Very disappointed. Years of what now feels like misinformation. Forum threads where they asked for player input on progression, completely tossed to the wind.

"A question was asked. Feedback was taken. Ideas were considered. A decision was made. Disagreeing with feedback is not the same as ignoring the feedback. This is how life works. We made decisions based on this feedback including the down-leveling to allow you to repeat instances with friends or play in lower level zones.
Our biggest complaint for the past 3+ years was not making a decision and making the game match that decision. We've done that and are moving forward. Bumping a thread from 3 months ago to make some comments about how you weren't listened to (listening does not mean acting upon), does nothing to help the game, the company, or you move forward. Closing necro thread." ~ Phobos

It's not that they never listened. It's that they never cared what we said.
