There's a new MMORPG that I think fans of early EQ 1 might really like.

Yep, I hear ya on that man.  I am so burnt out on that too.  In this game you could get away with not doing the little tasks, some of the off the beaten path mobs have more interesting drops than the quest rewards I've seen, and the experience difference wouldn't be much.  You'd want to buy armor off the market in that case because some of the intro quests give you basic armor pieces as rewards.

Or you could do crafting and craft your own gear.  I haven't played with crafting yet but I know their are "success rolls" involved and crafting potions to give you better luck I believe.  That luck element might make some people not like it?  Not sure how lucky you have to be to craft things as I have not done it.

This game has been a great experience so far! The community really wants to see more players and are willing to aid any new player with gear and help.

Anyone who wants to start shouldn't be worried about learning on their own, there is a solid active player base that is always willing to help. Personally it's that reason that made me sub.

I'm excited to see the devs continue working on the game and its features. The devs admitted to working on this game without a publisher and that the funds acquired though sub fees will go directly into the game.

I've been playing for about 3 days now and it's really polished, the existing features aren't buggy. Loving the game and the community!

That's good to hear.  A game like this is going to be half community (if not more) for generating the fun.  I am pretty busy but I try to spend some time in game everyday to socialize do dungeons runs etc..  My character's name is "Ely" in game, let me know if you ever want to dungeon crawl or take out a rare spawn.

Its a bit of a 'dated' looking game to be charging that much, but it does look interesting, once they have a PVE server up and running i will check it out. image

I subbed.  Not because they have all the fancy graphics and features of a modern MMO but because it is a small developer who had a vision of making a world where people can live.  The quest hubs are a method to get you rather quickly to where this game starts.  It's main focus is end game and evolution.  It does have alternate advancements that will take a long time to advance.  It has rare gear drops.  It has things for you to do at max level besides raid.  The community is tiny right now.  I don't think it will ever grow by leaps and bounds.  Lots of things take time and are hard.  Crafting is easy to do and hard to advance.  Fantastic implementation of pet classes inspired by some EQ1 mechanics if I dare say.  It will most likely run on an old laptop.  It is NOT ESO or GW2.  I bought both of those and am not playing them.  The boxes of games I have bought and left would fill a room.  If you are honestly looking for something different that has some flavor to it, then give this a shot.  Ignore the graphics and enjoy the feel of what is there.  The price of a sub to me was a small price to support someone following a different path and sticking to their vision of the world they want to build.

Anytime someone mentions a game as being similar to EQ1, it gets my attention.  But, 1 day trial and then 15 dollar subscription fee?  Very repellent.  When there is short trials on anything, I rarely even try it.  Based on past experience I take this to mean the game is underwhelming and they are afraid that if you are given more than 24 hour window, you would see how bad it is.  And if I am thinking that, then why would I bother downloading it?

But sadly, I'm still half interested.  Thats how desperate I am for a game capturing a fragment of old EQ1.   I'm sitting here thinking "What day can I download this thing and get a chance to really try it out for more than 30-60 minutes?"  Who knows, I stay pretty busy.  The most likely scenario is I keep waiting for a day when I'll have plenty of time to play it, but I forget about their game before that day arrives.

If the people in charge of this game read this forum, they really need to rethink this?  Unless they are ashamed of their product and don't think it sells itself.

This is the game I have been trying to find again lol. I remember playing a year ago, but then I re-downloaded when I saw an ad on here for the game. I wanted to check out where the game stood compared to when I first played.

I honestly do not think it is anything like EQ1, however it does have that oldschool feel for sure. One of the reasons why I like this game is the world with all the trees and nature, it looks like the artwork has been improved and I think it looks just lovely. The other big plus is the persistent world and non-instanced dungeons. Anybody on the server can be anywhere at any time and that is exciting for me.

Gameplay is simple and easy to dive into. The interface is nothing crazy and everything feels clean and easy to understand. 6 races along with 6 classes and from what I understand, two different continents. The quest line to 50 is repetitive as you grind mobs as you move further into the world, but from what I have been seeing from other players is that endgame is where the fun begins. There is an advancement system, rare mobs, raid dungeons and these huge event monsters that require at least 3 players to take down.

Another thing I like about this game is that there is no handholding. No auto paths for quests and no objectives marked on your map. It encourages exploration and it rewards you for it as well. The PvE so far is very fun and the PvP is fast paced and brutal as it is open world once level 7. The playerbase right now seems small but friendly. There is also a in-game market now, not something I remember seeing the first time.

It is very indie. It is not like other games out there and that is why I came back to it for a sub. The sub seems steep, but I am willing to give it a month of my time and go from there. The 1 day trial is not nearly enough time to enjoy all this game has to offer, but it was enough for me to want to see more and support the devs. I wanted to give my thoughts on this game as I forgotten about it, but I remember seeing this post so I wanted to put in my 2 cents.

Any chance they will be giving a trial?
