What the fuck is it that lets people who admittedly didn't even scratch the surface of a game after having played 10 hours wirte lengthy "reviews" without the slightest clue and even go so far as to advise others?

That's the way video game reviews have been written since the beginning of time. It's how WildStar got great reviews at first, and has been in a downward spiral ever since, now dropping into the ranks of "average" games. The whole game has to be good or bad, not just the beginning, but reviewers don't take it into consideration at first.

Sorry what? You are allowed to talk about something only after you mastered it? You can't talk about your good/bad experience with a game after spending like more than a full work day on it? Or was what I wrote that bothered you? If yes, please write your own lengthy review.
The advice was something I would have appreciated to have when I was heavily debating if to spend 150USD (aka 10 month of eve subscription) to test a game for free for someone.... I did my diligence to advise after my average to bad experience with the game and the "lengthy review" was to justify my advice and give more clarity. Everything I said in that review is my experience backed up by NUMEROUS and quite lengthy threads in the beta forum.
THAT's what gives me the right to write about my "short lived" and probably will remain that way experience with this game.... Don't worry, my review did not affect TRION's income or considerably increased the number of people that will not even try the game. Who gets interested enough to go read about the game will try it out for free anyway. I probably just spared a couple of guys of the disappointment of paying a $hit load of money for something that crashes their computer and has discussible game mechanics.

I thought your review was right on the mark. I got up to lvl 17 and I did not like the game either. I would have to spend way to much time just grinding mats to get something. Not what I would call fun
Thanks for the advice, but i will happy pay the monthly fee.
In fact AA is the only current game atm that worth my money, just need the release to start paying and play.
And you probably should once you verify that the game works for you. Even more so after they clean up some of their mess. I've payed either subscription ( 6 years now of 3 accounts in eve, a couple of month of FF14), for the game (gw, gw2) or for in-game items (aion, poe, terra, ps2, warframe, etc) for every game I played. Is not about the money per se. The LP thingie is just double-dipping and probably a VERY bad attempt at bot controlling. It is the overall really bad state of the client that made me write the whole thing.
Btw my client force exits with NO error message every EXACTLY 12 minutes 30 seconds. I use a stop watch to know how long till that time so I know not to engage (cause there is no auto-attack so when you disconnect in a fight you are guarantied to die). And I'm one of the lucky ones that don't get BSODs every couple of minutes.
That is the main reason not to pay for the game. The rest of the average gaming experience / economy balance issues / cash shop bs are just secondary and you can choose yourself if they constitute a problem or not for your game style/finances.
You cant pay for the game now because its not released. If you are talking founders that gets you access to the Alpha which should explain the issues you are having. This isn't the final release for launch.
Considering I play the game everyday on my laptop introduces the possibility it could be your computer/configuration as opposed to the game (though I'm in agreement that the client is not optimized right now).
In terms of LP I dont see the big deal. The only concern is how much will I get when I start if its over 1000 it will be fine for me.
Being a free to play game, ArcheAge's primary source of income is from the purchase of the game's micro-currency, known as Script. Players can obtain Script either directly from the cash shop using their real money or buy it using regular game currency(gold) from other players who purchased it from the cash shop.
You were talking about items and using plural. So again, which items were you talking about?
Micro currency (which you can use to purcahse items) isn't exactly an item.

Your entitled to your opinion, but the sad fact is you wrote a hell of a lot of misinformation in your "short" review.
The main one is bein that you need to soend $150 to get the game. All you need is $50 for the Silver pack.
I have been a gamer for a very long time. I budget $50 a month for games. So, this to me was a great investment.
IF $50 is a $hitload of money for you, maybe you need a new hobby.
People are trying so hard to bash this game.........its pathetic

Its about player skill and knowledge about the classes you fight against and exploit their weakness and fight on your terms or position yoursef on a better spot and manage your cooldown and combo's and preventing him / theirs.
There is always going to be a player better then you in skill or gear or a guy who multibox.

I can tell you that Archeage is going to be a brutal mmo that is going to be almost on par with Eve Online.
And i cannot wait for XLGames to release that patch when you can create your OWN faction.
played level 9 as archer. runned out labor point, was not able even ID low level quest bow.
just horrible P2W game.
How you ran out of Labor at level 9 ill never know. Blatant lie.
You can easily run out of Labor points, especially if you are opening up those purses that cost 1+ LP (believe I had 20 of the first ones unopened and started to get the next grade of loot purses that cost 2LP to open), and every quest reward weapon/armor you have to ID and those are 5LP each.
With gathering resources that's additional LP loss, sure you gain more over time... but you can use it up quickly. You pretty much have to figure out ahead of time what you are going to spend it on.

Not so sure you could run out, but then people these days dont know how to budget anything. If you see yourself running out of LP. Look at what your doing. Whats your LP goin towards. Why do you need to gather stone or iron, if you dont know what your goin to use them for? Just to have your inventory full of junk?

That's what I said at the end, you need to figure out ahead of time what you are going to spend it on. It's easier in a guild where people can decide who is going to be spending on what. This guy is mining, this guy is gathering plants and so on.
For a person playing it for the first time (as I was) It just seems so tempting to open up all the purses without realizing how valuable the Labor Points are at first (but hey that's what alpha/beta tests are for to learn these things), because there are some crafting material I guess that is in them, plus the money. Then you have items to ID, which can go for 15LP right there since they give you three armor pieces sometimes from one quest. Especially if you want to do gathering of any kind or crafting.
My post had nothing to do with p2w. I said founder is mandatory in order to generate enough LP to experience the game at a decent level but that was not remotely the main point my post was making so not sure why this conversation happens in this thread.
However to all the people that say that the game is not p2w and their guild will trash all the people popping up labor potions please have in mind that your guild will at some point go head to head against an equally organized guild that popps up labor potions. And then you will lose and understand why it mattered.
Anyway if I understand the 12h cooldown correctly even if someone spends thousands of dollars for LP they will still have the acquisition of extra LP limited by time. So if your guild is THAT good you may still catch/keep up.

Happened in EVE, Red Overlord back in the good bad old days of EVE got bankrolled by a Russian Billionaire so hard he tanked the GTC(pre-plex gametime system) it took nigh on 3 years and multiple plex sinks for the price of gametime to shoot up. Red Overlord today is no one, their direct rivals, Goonswarm later Goonswarm Federation, are the top dogs. Skill, ability and determination make or break pvp conflicts with territories involved not assets (Goonswarm fought battleships with frigate swarms for a good, long, time).

Sure, but it took the game 2 years to get rid of ROL and their reincarnations. But I feel that AA is going to be far more competitive since there is so much less space to own so average guilds propped by money won't be able to survive in top as much as ROL could in eve. Time will tell

I have had a total blast in this game , the likes of which I had not experienced since , yes, I am going to say it, SWG
Not because of resemblance, but because I felt I was there.
Very glad I paid for founder when I did, and have easily had my money's worth from game already.
Since the 'patch' , I've become more and more disinterested and almost resentful (sorry)
THinking why, it's because , instead of doing what I (as my char) wants to do, I am forced now to do what the game wants me to do, and that has killed it for me.
Play the game and have a great time, I did, and you never know, I might even manage to face logging in again, but then, I'll only be wound up because I've been penalized lp wise in a sense by not leaving my char afk.
great game, for a while, but it's data for me now, not an inventory, etc.

is the OP complaining because you need much longer for something when you play the game for free compared to someone who pays a monthly subscription.
Well here is the news, THEY need to EARN money in order to maintain and develop the game. lol kids these days

ONE of the puropses of LP is to sell potions, sure, but it's not the only purpose. 2k lp a day is expensive too.
The purpose of LP is just like the purpose of Dungeon lock outs. So you don't finish the game in a day.

Sure, but it took the game 2 years to get rid of ROL and their reincarnations. But I feel that AA is going to be far more competitive since there is so much less space to own so average guilds propped by money won't be able to survive in top as much as ROL could in eve. Time will tell

I bought founder back in April (maybe early May)
I have had a total blast in this game , the likes of which I had not experienced since , yes, I am going to say it, SWG
Even thou this game is fun and more needs to be done with it, I decided to not put money into it.
I did, however buy a Founders pack for another game in the making. I'll check back in to see how things go in the future thou here.
