Welcome to the world of F2P games and why I loath them!
Until this day it stil beats me how people keep begging for more games to go F2P in which you end up spending more, then paying a fixed sub that gives you unrestricted Access.
You seriously still don't know why almost every single MMO game that started out using the P2P business model exclusively ended up shutting down, going F2P, or F2P + P2W?
Just off the top of my head here, but maybe those games sucked or released early and were under-developed. Many of those recent games that went F2P still offer a subscription with full access to the game. Chances are good that they still suck for the most part, no matter the business model. What amazes me is how a crappy game with a sub, somehow becomes worth playing when other players support your habit.
Facebook and mobile games learned about the profitability of labor/production/energy points looooong ago. Non-browser based MMOs are just now catching up with their business models!
F2Pers have made their bed, they just haven't realized that it's full of bed bugs that will bite them sooner or later.
Eventually, after having successfully avoided paying monthly subscriptions, people will be buying the equivalent of daily subscriptions (aka point regeneration of whatever type). F2P is a beast that knows no satiety.

That's very doubtful. I think that the stereotypical F2P player that everyone talks about won't pay for anything anyway. They don't want to pay for anything. IMO, as long as someone can do the same thing Free as someone who is paying real money, then what's your problem? Basically people are paying for the convenience of levelling quicker. You can accomplish the same thing over time. If you don't like it, then go P2P. At least there, your hour is equivalent to someone else's. I think that this type of an F2P model (the hurry-up-and-wait) isn't horrible. It provides options to people who ARE willing to pay to help speed up their progression. There are plenty of people (I'm one of them) who understand that paying $50 to cut 30 hours off your progression time is actually worthwhile.

It's no Secret (and there have been plenty reports about it) that the average person spends up to 40 bucks or more a month in a F2P to be able to have the same experience someone has in a sub based game.

Unrestricted access for a sub in a microtransaction game?
They don't even do that. At best you get a couple of perks and stuck paying just like every other player.
More and more MMO companies are learning that you can have the best of both worlds by making a game have a subscripton (sometimes disguised as "VIP" or "Patron" status) AND a cash shop.
Even WoW, Ultima Online, and now FFXIV AR have minor cash shop tendencies that are growing more and more over time, although they still haven't reached the point of (or learned the lesson of) games which have an F2P system that lets people play for free AND a subscription status.
Maybe the more successful sub games haven't switched to that model yet because they're, well, successful. Everyone else is doing it though (Rift, TERA, Archeage when you consider that it used to be a sub game, and Star Wars have all switched to a 'Hey, pay us for a sub AND buy from our cash shop! But free to play!!!!!" system)
just to be clear .... the production points in Tera is only for gathering and crafting (something that its not the main passtime in Tera anyway).... also there is no cashop item to buy so u can refill (only a in game merchant who sells it very expensive though)
the whole situation is not the same as AA's LP
All-time fave : City of Heroes/Villains
Played and returning from time to time : GW2, Tera, CO
also its never a problem, from my experiense, i never had zero pp, it refills quickly (lets be honest, in Tera you fight, or u farm or u stay in cities trolling in global).... and i heard noone complain for this (unless he wanted to craft all his high tier gear in 1 day, after he spend months gathering the mats)

Many hated ArcheAge labor points but looks like that will be the new trend now on....
After decided not to play ArcheAge I downloaded Tera after long time break and started fresh in the newb island, after an hours of gathering right when was about to cap gathering for tier 1 i was stopped by "no more production points".....
Looks like afk a bit you have enough to gather 1-2 more then wait again....
Sucks in my opinion and it's a scam.
As long as they don't sell production points in a cash shop these type of systems are awesome. Wushu energy system was one of my favorite things about the game. It created an economy in which there was constant high demand for nearly everything.

I spend a lot more than $40 in ArcheAge - and I love it.
I see nothing wrong with supporting games that I like - I'll gladly spend $500 per month for a good game.
Why should games not support varying entertainment budgets for players that can afford it?
Good devs can have my money - I will gladly pay a lot for a good gaming experience.
Do your thing chicken wing, Im glad you can throw 500 bucks at a game a month. But I think most gamers, most people in general even would balk at spendng six thousand dollars a year when we used to get everything for 180 bucks or less a year. I find the idea of having to spend that much money to get what we used to get for much cheaper mind boggling.
I wish you the best of luck, you are the perfect host for these type of parasites.

Whales like you are what allow the F2P cash shops to flourish.
If thats what you like doing then go ahead, its your choice. For me I will find a nice sub based game, pay around $240 for the first year ( including box price) and not have to worry about being milked in a cash shop.

Hooray -_-
The scam of AA was not that F2P players ran out of labor points and had to buy potions in the cash shop. F2P players can live with that.
The scam was that people playing the VIP or Patron status, and paying the sub equivalent, had to buy labor potions as well.
And "buy" crafting materials from the cash shop, because the drop rates make it impractical to do other wise.
AA is/was just the same Korean grinder everyone has seen 1000 times before in a shiny new wrapper.
AA may not have been the first, but it was the first western(ized) MMO to do it FB game style..
Well, I'll just leave this here:

To each their own I suppose.
You're right. I probably should have only sent the PM. No worries. My bad.
