For one week only, you can respec for 1 Gold piece per SkillPoint or Stat Point

Zenimax isn't doing a very good job advertising the fact that for one week only while they prepare the next patch, you can respec for 1 Gold per Skill Point or Stat Point. It's buried in the patch  notes :-). We do know that in the near future, they are going to make it much cheaper than the outrageous pricing it had before this week, but this week is a steal for those that want to try a new build.

Just thought some people might be interested. image

  • The cost to respec has been reduced to 1 gold per skill point or stat point. Note that this is a temporary change and in approximately one week, respec costs will return to a normal (but reduced) cost in patch v1.3.4.

While I think this is good, we don't want to go down the line some MMOs have of allowing a respec every week for free. I don't think the cost should be reduced in fact, they are vague about how much it is going to be reduced. Also Zenimax is not changing the game balance that quickly, if they were, cheaper respecs would be needed.

It's not the cost that bothers me (although cheaper is better) it's needing to wipe everything when all you really want to do is change a morph or 2... what could take 2 minutes takes a good half hour when you have a lot of skill points... like today with my 195 points (VR7)

wasnt it like 10 silver at release each skill point? I remember 17 gold for 170 skillpoints.

Well it cost me about 10k to redo skills at level fortyish. But I don't mind that, that's how it should be to swap skill swapping becoming ridiculous.

But I do agree that you should be able to redo all your morphs for a small fee, say just 100G.

i agree. I think it would be a better idea to manually reset the amount of skills (morphs) you want, and the NPC charges you based on how many points you reset, not just all at once. Its a bit of an annoyance. But i welcome the lower price after the 1g week is over. I think it was too expensive before and my character knows how to fight with all their abilities, so i shouldnt be paying absurd amounts to focus on a different fighting style. Its not like im trying to learn another class...

Yeah, I wanted to change a morph, just one, and had to remember all my other skills just to change one morph, and it costed a bunch too.  There definitely should be a way to just change what you wanted for 100g each.

lol where did you get that? It's been 100 gold per skillpoint and/or attribute since release..with no ability to partially do either some of anything.

I agree. I did read something recently where they will reduce the cost in the near future..but I'm not 100% sure. There have been a lot of threads about people being unhappy with the 100G  all or nothing thing, so hopefully they will allow a little more flexibility when the redo this.

    Edit: I found this...

For the first week of update 3, we will make respec extremely cheap (i.e. 100 gold). After that we will reduce the respec cost by 25%. We will also add in respec for just your morphs that is really cheap (100x cheaper than a full respec).

    Nice... that works for me.

I'm so glad I got back into this game. Really missed it.... did't realize how much until I tried playing wildstar and then WoW again. Happy to be home

So I decided to make a heavy armor build because the respec is so cheap.  Turning my Nightblade into a duel axe wielding Fury Warrior build. So far so good. image

Interesting and I think it's a move in the right direction but doesn't go far enough for my tastes.

Just speaking for myself, I fell in love with Morrowind (and later Oblivion's) complete freedom of character development. I was unimpressed with Skyrim introducing restrictions in the form of perks and didn't buy it for that reason until they eventually lifted the restriction.

Similarly ESO's respec cost in combination with the skill point cap not allowing players to learn everything was the deciding factor in my not buying ESO.

The fact they're considering reducing the cost is a promising sign. I can only hope they take it further.

Yeah so it works, but very situational. I went with

Duel Wield - Rapid Strikes > Blood Craze > Killers Blade > Immovable > Dark Cloak > Soul Tether

    5 heavy 2 medium

    3500hp

    2000k Stam

    1300 Magicka

It works, but I die too much being in the crowd... I think I messed my stellar "Kill Count" (addon) K/D ratio overnight lol

If only I had Dragons Blood image
