While it would be great for this game to return. It'd be better off buried then in PW's hands as others said. Though does bring the question, if it was to be brought back who would actually be worthy of doing so since the original owners chose to close it.
This is like asking for a pedophile to watch a daycare while you're at lunch.
TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, BAD idea.
For every one good thing they've done for Neverwinter, I can name of 10 bad ones. Seriously, how many rampant bugs, glitches, thieves, etc, does it take? Better studios went under for less drama.
Now, if you want a petition to remove D&D FROM PWE.. then sure, I'll sign.
Originally posted by MysteryB Hey guys, saw this petition for Perfect World to buy City of Heroes rights, probably won't happen but anything can happen, let's go for it. https://www.change.org/p/1931170?just_created=true
Did you happen to see this petition because the creator and first person to sign come from the same city as you?
First, CoH is being rebuilt and rebranded as City of Titans. The Kickstarter was a resounding success and we get regular updates from the dev team. http://cityoftitans.com/news
Second, I would really hate to see PWE buy out these guys. The money would probably be nice but losing dev control would suck.
Yes, but Cryptic made City of Heroes and even Jack Emmert (CoH and Champions game director) said CoH did not deserve to go out like that and since CoH was the more complete game and more popular than Champions (which gets updated almost NEVER) I think it would be a smart move. They didnt gain anyone in Champions, atleast everyone I have seen went to DCUO if anything, Champions wasnt better than City of Heroes, it was waaay worse
Originally posted by MysteryB Doesnt matter what any of you think, Perfect World might not be Perfect, no pun intended, but I would do whatever it takes if coh came back haha.
Gotta be careful when making deals with the devil. And I'd like to point out. It DOES matter what we, the community, of MMORPG think. We are the ones that support, and spend, and play these wonderful titles.
Point is.. we matter, and this matter has been tabled.. probably permanently. (and if you can't manage to get to 100, you can bet it isn't worth PWE's time.. heck 10K players may not be worth their time)
Why would PWE by a direct competitor to Champions Online? That's just silly. Plus, as others have said, there's few people I'd want in charge of CoH than PWE. I'd much rather NCSoft handover all the assets and such to the City of Titans team.

1. I never expected to exceed any number of signatures, I just wanted to get CoH talked about again, it needs any attention and if just 1 person from any company takes a look at purchasing it because they saw a petition or post that made them look into it than great .
2. Calm down there ace, I didnt diss your mom or anything like that, it doesn't matter to me if someone says "Not signing cuz you suck bla bla bla" I loved City of Heroes with all my heart and truly and honestly would love for them to run CoH, it already had a cash shop, make me pay more I dont care, I loved the game, if you didnt that is cool, dont say anything just move on to what you do care about.
If this was even just six months ago I'd be jumping to sign the petition, but...it's been too long and I've mostly moved on from all those wonderful years of CoH fun. The game is old now and people should move on. With three spiritual successors in the works and a market full of console and pc games everyone should seriously consider trying new games or other activities.
As my CoH withdrawl continues to fade I'm helping Plan Z Studios with their spiritual successor by proposing new powers and power sets. I also reacquired my old love for Grand Theft Auto by playing GTA 4 while I wait for GTA 5 to release for pc. To top it all off I've taken up biking and skating to stay in shape.
City of Heroes was a great ride while it lasted but its time has come and gone. If I see a studio that wants to make CoH 2, like Paragon Studios should have been working on since late 2010, I'll support their efforts by signing a petition or donating to a kickstarter if it helps. Other than that...no. It's time to give it up.
RIP - CoH
I've got a feevah, and the only prescription... is more cowbell.

I'm just curious. Why of all publishers did you choose PWE? Why not any of the other mmo publishers out there. If this was for EA, A.Net, En Masse etc. I would probably sign it. But, since you chose PWE. I'm afraid I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot stick. Maybe reconsider the publisher, and I bet you'll get a lot more attention to your cause. Just my opinion.
City of Heroes/Villains is the only game I ever went back to constantly because it was that good. I would leave when mission grind got to me then a few months later would be back. However Perfect World I hope will never get their filthy paws on the game so I will not sign.
I always wanted to play COH but never did. I won't touch anything by PW so I hope they stay away from COH. I think I will check and see if I can find a private server now.
“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

Because Cryptic, the original makers of City of Heroes, work under Perfect World.
For everyone who dislikes this idea, please remember this.
City of Heroes got better after Cryptic lost interest and eventually sold the game to NCSoft.
PWE has a very poor record, imo, of game design getting stamped into their bad business mode. Their name attached to something has become a negative. Also, I hear rumours that someone (probably not PWE) is putting out feelers to NCSoft about buying the rights/game of CoH. Crossed fingers.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Translation: Agree with me or you didn't love the game!
I eyeroll each time I see someone make such an utterly ridiculous comment. I loved City of Heroes too, and I played it for over seven years. Oh, and I very much disagree with your opinion.
The first thing I see happening if PWE ever got their hands on it would be the end of being able to easily customize your characters. Want a cool new costume piece? Hah, you think you're actually going to be able to buy it in the cash shop similar to what Paragon Studios did?
Forget that. That shiny new set is going straight into the gamble boxes. Where you'll be lucky to get it after you've dropped a 100 bucks on their store. But you'll have plenty of useless junk if your very limited inventory to show for it.
Enhancements? Sure, but you now need to collect a ton of tokens to be able to make one. Which means you'd better upgrade your inventory and bank space a bit. :P
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
Afaik nobody form the original team is still with cryptic apart from management. So talking about cryptic at this point is pretty much pointless.
I'm sure there's still a few left. I remember a few devs from Paragon Studios saying that they joined their old colleagues at Cryptic after NCSoft fired them.
Still, Jack wanted to be rid of the game because he had a new and better vision to chase with Champions Online. So there's no way he'd want CoH back.
And as someone else said, the best updates came after Matt Miller took over once NCSoft bought the game.

Having said that.. you have.. 2 extra signatures... yea, that's right. In a world where someone wanted to make potato salad and made 40K, a girl asking for Wikihow to remove how to fake a headache has more signatures than you...
