Having a blast

GrailerGrailer Member UncommonPosts: 893

I took the risk after watching some twitch streamers and purchased the founder pack .

Having a blast so far .  I read a lot of negative comments on forums and to be honest I have to say they must be working for another company trying or something because the game is AWESOME.

Didn't get any ques , no lag , no bugs  working perfectly for me .

Currently just doing the themepark part of the game which appears to be a tutorial / story .

The only negative so far is the founder pack gifts I  haven't received yet but the server message said it could take a while due to huge number of players .   Kinda want my glider tho they look awesome : )

The lag thing is only for the first day of headstart and the first day of official launch. People raging about this are mostly kids.

Its generic themepark, similar to everything we get after WoW. It must be your first MMO, if you like it.

So you can only have a "blast" with your first mmo?

Give the OP some credit, he likes what he's playing even if you think it's a "generic themepark".

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

You must have not played it. There is a Themepark part of the game BUT you do not have to do ANY quests if you dont want too I leveled to 50 3 times in Alpha without a single quest. It must be your first MMO if you think AA is just a themepark game OR you never played it .

I think that is a correct guess.

No quests?  Even many of the fans of this game are telling us the questing part is the tutorial and, depending on who you talk to, tells you it only opens after lvl 30 or 50.  I played beta through lvl 13 and found questing all over the place. Im not sure what else there was for me to do at this point.  Are you talking about having reached max level and then starting another character?   I didnt see any other options for me.

I like the game and will probably play it off and on, but It will never be my top MMO.  It's due to the payment model, you have to subscribe and buy LP and buy Archeum to do everything.  Why can't I just subscribe and get all that? :(  If my subscription included like Archeum drops, and LP equal to the store, this would be my my top MMO easily, and WoW would become second, for the first time in a long time.  In beta I had a blast just fishing on a boat :D

I haven't played but a while in beta, but to answer your question about "no quests". Isn't that what a sandbox game is about? The developers give you tools and you and other players make up a virtual world? I know the game isn't complete sandbox with full features, but I have read others posts that say you don't have to do the quests.

I guess I'm just kind of extending on your questions...I would like to know myself because I am really unsure about this title. /shrug

I am loving the game so far. I have put in about 30 hours of gameplay since launch. It is addictive.

Do your RESEARCH. Archeum Drops off mobs, You get it from using evenstones to breakdoen green+ items. You get LP every 5 minutes you DONT have to buy anything in the Cash shop.

People really need to learn about a game by themselves and stop listening to the Whiners in here.

If you want the most out of the game "House, farm,Boat" then you will have to quest but you Dont have too hell one of my characters in Alpha leveled to 50 by Mining and only Mining. the Quests ARE a tutoral if you dont like quests then just to the Green ones for the Gilda stars and the Few Craftings ones for your farms (small and Large) but thats it .

    You mistake Quest for Themepark.

The key word here is "leveling". It does not matter how you level up, it's still a themepark.

Tell me what makes it a themepark besides having Quests you dont have to do. EVE has quests and it is a Sandbox is it not?

That is my point, just because there are quests does not make it a themepark or sandbox.

As I said, the keyword is leveling up - vertical progression. EVE design is horizontal, you start in a frigate and you can play in frigate 5 years later because the game is not designed with vertical progression. You do not progress in that game, frigates are no less powerful than battleships, they are different.

Same cannot be said about ArcheAche tho, the vertcial progression is essential there just like in any themepark game - progress through power curve via levels and gear to hit end game.

Hmm in AA I start in a small house and a small farm and a rowboat and I work to get a Mansion a large farm and a Frigate. In AA I Craft to make the best gear it takes a TON on effort to do and im not 100% sure what im going to get. In AA I have to work as a team with my guild to do anything beyond level 30. In AA I dont have to grind a dungeon everyday to get armor/weapons. So its not like a themepark at all it is much more like EVE and much less than WoW.

So besides what you have read in here what do you say is P2W in AA? there only a few items in the cash shop that will give you a bit of a boost Labor pots with a 12 hour cool down and some random dropped chest which I suggest you DONT buy they are a rip off. If yo uare going to say Archeum well it drops often now from mobs. 1000 LPs every 12 hours does not make the game P2W . There is NO gear no Weapons in the cash shop.

As I have said many times Research yourself and dont rely on people on forums who never played the game.

The math has been done.  If you buy the LP potion and use it everytime it's cooldown is up, you will have 9x more LP than someone that just subscribes or a f2p player.  This allows you to get into top tier crafting 9x faster than other players.  Until you get ganked by a level 50 at level 50 when he has top gear, and you have what a f2p or even a sub player has at level 50, you won't understand.  It's a huge difference.

My problem really isn't the p2w aspect of that.  My problem is charging people a subscription that doesn't unlock numerous other paywalls in the game.  Neverwinter had $40 mounts which were outrageous, but now AA wants to charge you basically like a $50 a month sub fee to unlock the entire game each month...
