Mine would have to be the world.. It looks great but at the same time I feel claustrophobic while running around. I feel like the world is just an enclosed space and that I am running through one pass to get to an enclosed area and then another pass to get to another one over and over again. Felt this way since early in the alpha and IMO the weakest point of AA.

Supposedly a newer gen game yet can't customize bodies, so you got grandma faced women running around with super model bodies and great boob physics.
  • OH. let me tell you!

Mostly the fact that I can't log in to the Glyph program to download the game.

Worst part of AA is the whining non-players that make the bulk of these forums . Without them it would be one of the best games that have come out in 10 years.

i have to agree with this. No matter what they offer or dont offer in the game, this has to be one of the most annoying things in the game.

Trion had a decent body customization option in Rift so i wonder if they even bothered talking about it with XL games.

That one sounds easy to fix, you probably don't need anyone to tell you how to make AA the best game you have played in the last 10 years.

That creepy-ass cutscene shit they do where the quest-givers mouth the words but no sound comes out.  Stuff of nightmares.

Most of what AA is IS what people have been asking for in a game. think about it. People wanted a world with no loading AA. they wanted open PVP but still safe areas AA. They wanted Sandbox abilty AA. they wanted control of their characters to be what they wanted to be without a set "Job" AA. So yes it Is one of the best games to come out in the last 10 years there is tons of freedom for some , there is the guilded tour for others AA is WHAT YOU WANT IT TO BE. Name one game that has come out in the last 10 years that gives you so much freedom to do what you want to do the way AA does. Of course you would have to had Played the game in Alpha to understand that the tiny Beta events sucked tgh and didnt give people the full scope and that is what I think is the issue with most of the newer non-Archeum founders who only got Beta access but believe me once you get your flow you will see AA is a wonderful open world full of fun for all..even Carebears though ...not as much but hey I have a few in my guild who just enjoy farming others Crafting others mining and then the others we like pirate hunting or escorting people across the sea and trading . Just built a Trade Gallleon today my guild did now for a second . We help the carebears arent we nice. For a fee of course.

    [mod edit]

Nothing of what you said, with exception of no loading, is true: nobody asked for more safe areas in themeparks, its not sandbox, it doesnt have horizontal progression, its extremely linear, theres no freedom (you cant skip questing). Its typical themepark with some farmville elements.

It far from best game of this year, and you are talking about 10?

I suspect time will fix this, I think right now everyone is busy, I always got the impression the true game has nothing to do with the in game story, but rather the story the players make. Am I wrong in thinking that way?

Its the best mmorpg i had played in last 10years, whinners wont change that in any way.

But that doesnt mean i agree with everthing Trion/XLGames are doing with AA.

Theres alot of valid complains around foruns, and alot to ignore too ofc.

Many players inability to think out of the box and understand how to really approach ArcheAge.

A lost art for some it would seem.

For $150 you'd hope that wouldn't happen. The only thing worse is that if you mention that it makes you unhappy that people have 3-4 properties and others have none due to Glyph/Trion errors and issues you just get told to STFU, Quit then, stop whining....etc

My least favorite part is the Headstart...all of it.

So if one doesn't enjoy Archeage that one must just not know how to play mmorpgs or really undestand what its trying to be? Im going to call bullshit on that. I do not enjoy Archeage, i've played AA on korean servers, was in the first round of alpha really gave it my all. I simply don't like it and its not for lack of understanding "sandbox" or the fact that the game "opens up" after level 30( i love that one). I am an avid sandbox player and currently still play UO EVE and Wurm online and enjoy each very much. There is no rose tinted glasses bullshit either as I still play these and still enjoy them. This is getting real old

What he means is that most players don't search any further and stick to the obvious. Like those who stick to grinding quests in AA when you can level without touching a quest. There's so many things to do it's insane. But most indeed don't think out of the box, and just run to the next quest marker, and then whine that the game is a linear themepark.

Kyleran said it perfectly, and I agree with him 200%.

When I played in beta, I grinded quests for a while and then went off on my own, explored about, did all of those really cool things that everyone is talking about in Archeage (farming, crafting, etc.).  I was still bored stiff.

Guess I just played it wrong, too.

I understand exactly that. I just think its arrogant and dismissive of people. It is true that some people are that shallow but what really happens is that anyone with a differing opinion now of archeage are just too stupid to get it and are shallow casuals with no abstract thoughts outside the box as you two say. Now that i think is just not quite fair and is too much posturing.

Exactly i've been finding this insulting that i'm like too narrow minded to "get" archeage. Ridiculous. I get it just fine i just find it a poor game compared to previous sandbox titles i've played. Don't dismiss my opinion as unfounded because so many others do dismiss it without due diligence in trying the game.

The lack of interaction between NPCs. They don't really have much script and it feels like they just take up space. Sure, the villages are nice, but it would be nicer if the NPCs actually had lives.

Actually it isnt and they mde it that way. They removed the waypoint searhes (not just elminating them giving tears which they removed) bt you dont 'discover' anything naymore. So there is no need to go anywhere to look for these 'hidden' places anymore. That took a major 'sandbox' feature from the game.

Also just because you think there is a lot to do doesnt make it so(no pun). There is questing, there is PvP, there is crafting (broken), there is trading (broken), there is farming/raising animals (if you can find a spot of land). There is grinding mobs. Thats about it. The world isnt all that big and the live version is smaller than the alpha version. But even if you havent 'explored' everything in alpha it doesnt take all that long to see everything, above and below the water, and once you do there arent any real incentives to go back again.

The irony is that once you get off the rails of the themepark the supposed sandbox side of the game fails to deliver. The only thing you can say is "PvP", well every themepark game has PvP as well so that alone obviously doesnt make AA 'sandbox'. Rift with its world events and dimensions and semi random stuff is actually more 'sand box' than AA is. If it had 'open world' PvP I am sure a lot of people would try to claim it was sandbox. because people dont know what the term means.

But suffice to say AA doesnt have a lot of sandbox elemeemts going for it.
