I couldn't launch the game because HackShield would never update, and I tried every possible fix listed in the Help page over and over again to no avail... and it wasn't something on there that fixed it.
Someone (I wish I'd noted their name!) mentioned on a forum elsewhere that HackShield has to access Internet Explorer behind the scenes for some reason, and when I checked out my Internet Explorer it wasn't working. It just hung there, forever, trying to load my home page. Maybe one of Microsoft's Updates borked it and I never knew because I never ever use Incontinent Exploder(tm).
So, I went to Control Panel -> Programs and Features, clicked on View Installed Updates and then uninstalled IE 11. After a reboot there was a quick Windows update and IE 11 finally started working. I launched Archeage and HackShield updated rapidly and the game actually launched!!
Now to wait through the queue of 3,400...

Running Glyph as an administrator seems to fix that for me. I suppose just granting UAC privileges to ArcheAge.exe is not good enough for Windows and it prevents the hackshield. Running Glyph as admin allows me to start ArcheAge without UAC alert and the loads smoothly.
