"All other games are terrible" is not a good defense. First of all, it isn't true. I don't need to block vile and racist talk in general chat in most games - because there are adults in charge and the people doing that get quickly banned. The remaining chat may be moronic or childish, but that's not the same as neo-Nazi rants or rape fantasies. Second of all, it doesn't make the current game any better. Trion should spend the money to enforce their own ToS.
AA chat is pretty bad, at least on Lucius NA....a whole conversation about wanting to molest kids and racism about BRs again. Stuff like this went on for 2-3 hours straight.
Are players allowed to scam other players in-game in ArcheAge?
Yes. ArcheAge is a highly competitive PvP game and skullduggery will be a weapon of choice just as sharp as a sword (and possibly even more potent).
LOL, I guess this means they want you to kill your fellow players... well, they should at least allow you to kill players everywhere then. Stupid safe zones.
I saw a scam in our server where a player said he was leaving the game and giving away all his gold. If you sent him 10 gold he would send you back 20....send him 20 and he'd send you back 40. We all just laughed when we saw that in Nation chat and said "Who would ever fall for that?"
A little while later someone who had fallen for it started complaining about the first guy being a scammer in chat...
Ah yes, that would be scam number 3.2 ISK Doubling, a classic that goes on all the time.
BTW, the reason it happens a lot in EVE is people try to "beat the scammer" at their own game.
Many of them will honor the doubling request for a few rounds, trying to get you to commit to larger amounts of money until they suddenly start ignoring your chat requests.
So the game is to try and get out before they pull the plug, and I've had corp mates get away with 200M ISK at times, and of course, lose the same.

Am I saying this game is trash? Not at all, Its very innovative game with average to slightly above average graphics, Just don't give this company a dime of your money until you fully understand what you are getting into. Play it free until you truly get a feel for what you are getting into.
Archeage has nothing to do with innovation as it's actually just a blend of all the features from other games and so on. E.i. Harvest Moon, L2, Mabinogi, Warcraft, TSW, etc..

Archeage's graphics has been tuned down a lot so that underspec machines can run it smoothly. I mean, serious, an AAA game made in 2013 and it looks like this? Not really impressed.

As a publisher, Trion is actually on the good side.
PS: have you seen any gold spammers as bad as this one even during headstart/launch? I am pretty sure gold sellers see that players see value in this game, or else they won't be there to spam first begin with.
I dont th8nk it's pvp f2p or p2p that has the bad community. Its any new mmo that still has the transient mob in it that has this terrible community. When you go back to most mmo where this group has left they always have better people.
I can count on 1 hand the amount of MMO's that didn't have toxic chat or communities. Off the top of my head would be Star Wars Galaxies, Lord of the Rings Online and Dark Age of Camelot. So it looks like there's more games that have toxic communities than there are that don't.
Complaining about a community has nothing to do with the game. I mean, do you think game developers hand pick their players? If you have an issue with faction chat, than how about you start ignoring it. It's really not that hard to create a GUILD tab in chat and completely ignore faction, alliance and trial chat. Unless you aren't in a guild, in which case, you probably are better off not playing AA.
How can you say that in reference to a sandbox game, where the community is the elder game's content?
For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson
The problems with Archeage are, in my opinion, firmly resting on the shoulders of the players. I've played quite a few games in my time and the amount of douchebaggery and asshattery that runs rampant in this game is simply amazing. All because the player can, they do. If you enter a warzone on your ship, expect to have it taken or stolen, unless you can defeat the group of 10+ that you meet, of your own faction no less. Yes, had it done.
I've met more people in this game who are determined to ensure that anyone they meet will have a rough day, just because. No reason needed. They have the mindset, I see you, I screw you. Why? Because they get a moment of joy from it. That's it. There is no gain for them other than to ensure you have a bad day.
The game up to level 30 isn't bad, kind of fun actually. When you start needing to go into contested zones because your TRADE quest tells you to go there, or you just ran out of labor points from crafting and want to grind some exp. (BTW, quests still go on after level 30 in Warzones, you can quest to 50 in those). They have peace times, but if you only play during peace times, you'll be way behind the power curve when you do encounter an asshat who has nothing better to do than grind his way to 50 and then gank people.
I've met some nice people, a few. But, sometimes people can seem nice until they squeel in glee watching their own group smash the face of some random guy who was on a trade route, steal their boat and then destroy it just because they can. Those people don't seem very nice after that and it leaves a real sour taste whenever you speak to that person again knowing that they could turn on you in an instant if they had something to gain from you.
Archeage is the shining example of why, even more hardcore games such as Darkfall and the new Repopulation will or have already fallen. People these games attract are just the worst, seediest bunch you could ever imagine. Total human garbage. When Archeage's new and shiny wears off, it will still have players, just not nearly as many patrons and more FTP players just looking for a quick thrill.
Yes there will be people in this game that will make your life hell if you let them. First off you think this is a Toxic environment, go back to WOW and just see how much the community has become Toxic. The community in ALL MMOs right now its toxic because players have been allowed by tools like LFD/R to hide who they really are instead of everyone knowing an ass hole when they see one. What is the difference between WOW and AA, is well I know at least 3 ass holes in AA on my server. Alls you need to say is This person killed me over here in faction chat and in guild chat (My guild is small) and people come running to kill that Ass hole. One guy in particular has made such a name for himself on the server he is a Kill on sight of all the guilds because he is an ass hole. Guess what he gets farmed a lot and greifed a ton. He also was killed again last night when someone in my guild got killed and told us in guild chat and then our GM told Faction chat. Over 100 people shown up to kill this 1 guy. He got sent to Jail for 60 Minutes.
While what you say happens you are being overly dramatic about it, like the guy in the guild that got killed last night. He got killed in a contested zone during a time where PVP can happen. This guy also QQed about how WOW is better because players cannot greif you on PVE servers. Like I told him and I will tell you. THAT IS WHAT THIS GAME IS ABOUT! There are people like myself, my wife, my guild and more than half this game that will come running to kill people who become too much of an ass hole.
O and to LazyDazed. I use to Agree with that statement however I went back to WOW this past time and I can tell you P2P WOW is no better than F2P communities. When I get told to STFU this is LFR and if tanks don’t want to tank the towers on the first boss wing 2 in SoO and we wipe all night I have to deal with it. Then I get little 10 year olds saying how I should just roll a tank and tank it for them and its ok if they wipe for 5 hours and waste my time. Its because MMOs try to catter to people who don’t accept consequences to their actions and tooks like LFD and server switching and all that has hurt the MMO community. Yes there always was Jack Asses in MMOs however they were 100% less effective at their jack assaery than today because they could not hide behind anonymity. In AA they cannot hide so they will just be bigger ass holes, just bring some friends and kill the SOB then he spends real time in jail in the game. Yes you have to be logged in for 60 in game minutes until you get out at some point it will be as high as 12 hours. Then they will be thrown out of the faction and be sent off as pirates. Then they will be Red to everyone and everyone including the other faction will kill them.

Yeah but what they gonna do? trash talk you to death in PVE?
In open PVP game they not only get to talk trash but also have oppertunity to do 'acts' to grief and annoy you.
So i agree that open PVP MMOS are always known to be the worst in terms of communities. EVE, Darkfall, MO... all attract the worst kind of players.
And this is amusing to me because i was all about OPEN PVP games but i do not condone the mindset that only because it is an open PVP MMO one gets the license to be a jackass. At this point in my life i wouldn't play a game like AA even if they pay me.
"Sean (Murray) saying MP will be in the game is not remotely close to evidence that at the point of purchase people thought there was MP in the game." - SEANMCAD
Maybe communities are better in games that don't give much a chance to be a jerk in the first place. Marvel Heroes even has the loot be private to each player and heck, you can't even scam other people because most things are untradeable (making it easy to track the value of the few things that are tradeable).
You also still have to rely on each other in a sense in some cases/instances because you get autopartied with 5 guys but it's in your best interest to work together to complete it (X-Defense, Holosim).... at least until one guy leaves early for whatever reason, but they rarely mock you for that.
At any rate, the chat there is the tamest I've ever seen in an MMO. Although most F2P games that could barely be called F2P games yet are highly competitive in a money-fight manner sometimes have tame chats (...but only relative to the crap that's out there. Nothing like Marvel Heroes), maybe because the chat is just so... disjointed by everything.
Path of Exile seemed to have a rather nice chat. It's a Diablo-ish game too where there isn't much at all to gain from competing with others, though trade scammers can be a problem.
Well, regardless of what factor allowed those games to have tame chats, I can't say I'm surprised that Archeage doesn't. I don't know exactly what factors contribute to a toxic chat, but it's hard for me to imagine an open world PvP game NOT having one, since part of the whole point of open world PvP is the ability to hunt down and kill others without their consent.

Since you can block people the "trash talking" isn't an issue.
As I said, they can follow you around for a long time jumping up and down and up and down. They can follow you around and kill your mobs before you do (this happened to me as I was a guardian and this guy was a champion so as soon as he saw a mob that I was going for he would scissor it up before I had a chance to tag it).
They can just be jerks and take your mobs if there is no "everyone gets a chance" mechanic.
I'm all for open pvp as well but don't condone the types of behavior one finds in some of those pvp games. But this is the game company's fault. They could just as easily start banning people (not for pk'ing or griefing) but for polluting chat.

In PVE one has to put a lot of effort and go out of his way to grief you (i agree with that). Where as in PVP MMO with full loot one doesn't need to go out of his way. That is what i was trying to say. This is the reason PVE games are mostly low on grief 'acts' but heavy in terms of trash talking.
I used to love open world PVP MMOS back in the day when people were not 'aholes' in game just for the sake of it. Not that we didn't have jerks but they were not everywhere like we see now days.
ok no need for a wall of text or some drawn out conclusion..this answers all questions.."its a asain f2p mmo" what were you expecting? thats like going to JackNthebox for fine dinning

Stop blocking the gold spammers and you will never have to read chat again since you will not be able to even see it. Gold spamming in this game is on a whole other level.
Name one positive F2P community, other than dead games that people don't play anymore.
Name 1 P2P game that has a good community?
WOW is the worst
FFXIV is so so you have your ass holes here.
SWG was my number 1 best community. But that game is gone and the time were people respected one another.
Point a good community does not exist anymore unless you make it. AA is doing just that.
List of F2P games with great communitites:
Anarchy Online
The Secret World
Age of Conan (See a theme here?)
The Lord of the Rings Online
Star Wars The Old Republic
Not to mention a ton of F2P Asian exports. In fact, the biggest reason people are dedicated to alot of these games still is because of the communities.
I also think the DOTA 2 communities and World of Tanks communities are decent as well, but some people would argue with me.
ArcheAge has a lot of good communities in it as well. Just do yourself a favor and leave Faction and Nation chat. They are ArcheAge's version of "Barrens Chat". ArcheAge is fun because it is truly a social game. There are politics and alliances that evolve in very real and organic way on each server.
So what you guys mean is: All the older, crap games (and by that I mean look of date - hello lotro graphics. Or just plain old, boring crap - hi there TSW & Conan).
Oh and SWTOR is quite bad for chat. If it's not smack talk it's LFG spam (at least on EU/EN RP server).
Age, graphics, or your particular opinion on whether a game is fun or not has little bearing on the topic at hand. Runescape is old, low res, and in my opinion boring. It just happens to have a huge international F2P player base, one of the highest viewerships on Twitch, and a fairly decent community to boot. So please don't muddle the topic with your irrelevant musings on the quality of games.
Yes Master! (I guess there's no accounting for taste).
No trials. No tricks. No traps. No EU-RP server. NO THANKS!
On the plus side, I think if you dance when you want to go afk, it wont kick you. I did that a couple of times for about 30 minutes or so when I went to the store and the game didn't kick me unless the afk timer is longer now.
Yes indeed. The chat in Archeage is the most obscene, juvenile, disgusting, rude, insulting, racist, bigoted, and vile that I have seen in any mmo that I have ever played. I just get into a chat channel and disable everything to get a blank channel and play the game in blessed silence.

Asshole is one word. So is jackass. Just saying.
You know, I really wish people would do their research before playing these games.
I went into Lineage 2 KNOWING all of the asshattery that went on. I had no intention of playing it beyond a few days just to see what an mmo was like.
I remember leaving Dark Elf Village in a pack of other players constantly looking for the attack.
Which never came. Well, until some red killed a player and I took the red out.
