Hey folks, just as the tile says, can I please get some tips on MMORPGs with crafting complexity and "minigame" approach similar to Vanguard SoH? Thanks
Vanguard was my absolute favorite crafting system. I'm not sure what is the same, but some people like the Fallen Earth crafting system. I didn't play Fallen Earth for very long, so I don't remember, but you might wanna take a look.
If you want crafting complexity, you really need to try A Tale in the Desert. It's not that similar to Vanguard, but it does have a much more involved crafting system.
FFXIV's crafting system might be closer to what you asked for. One could think of it as being similar to Vanguard's except massively less grindy.
Nice, thanks for the tips :-). Going to try FE and Tale in the Desert. Did play FFXIV, and you are correct, I liked the crafting in that game being similar to Vanguard.
I dont even remember now, why I didnt stick with it. It didnt "click" I guess...
Everquest 2 is almost a carbon copy of Vanguards crafting if i remember correctly.
MMOs finally replaced social interaction, forced grouping and standing in a line while talking to eachother.
Now we have forced soloing, forced questing and everyone is the hero, without ever having to talk to anyone else. The evolution of multiplayer is here! We won,... right?

Fixed that for you. But yes, EQ2's crafting is the most similar to Vanguard that you're going to find. Note: I'm not saying anything about the depth, complexity, usefulness, or anything else about EQ2's crafting, just speaking about it's similarity to Vanguard.
Thats a very good observation, I have played EQII and that is exactly how one could characterize the difference. Anyway, both systems are fun and entertaining
You may want to check out Project:Gorgon. This game has the old school non-handholding feel that used to be common but sadly is no longer the case. The game is still in Alpha but it is totally playable right now and has the feel of Aseron's Call. The crafting and skill systems are deep and for having only 4 world maps right now it is jammed with content. MMORPG recently did a spot on the game and everyone in game seems to enjoy it a lot. The community is awesome and they will try to help you out if your in need.

There's a high degree of probability that EQN will have the same or very similar crafting system. Sony doesn't really do anything overly innovative. With this EQN game it seems they are aiming at borrowing the best features of their best and most successful games and applying it in one game. It'll really come down to how it all functions on their PS 4 and adapts to PC.

Uhm, do you know anything about EQN that the rest of the world does not?
What exactly does EQN do that has worked before? Froma ll i saw they do A LOT of stuff that has never worked well and some new things that sound like they can not work.

only game i can think of that has crafting similar to Vanguard is already mentioned FFXIV. only other game that is at least somewhat close is repopulation (and i would say it has even better crafting overall, just the crafting process itself i like more in vanguard and ffxiv).

Everquest2's crafting is nothing like Vanguards at all
FFXIV is the only one similar. VG and FFXIV were tactical, EQ2 is more reactional.
