If you would have told me 5 months ago that Wildstar would fail this badly, I would have laughed. Fast forward 5 months to the introduction of Mega Servers only to come to the realization that Wildstar is on its last legs. With an unrivaled combat system, the ability to buy game time with in game gold and a couple others things, I truly believed Wildstar would have longevity. You will always have the diehard players, like guys in my guild who said we will ride Wildstar into the ground. Then there are the realists like myself, who can see the forest. You hate to leave good friends and exceptional players but you can only kick a dead horse for so long.
So I decided to take another look at World of Warcraft which I have played since beta. Wow and I have had a love hate relationship for many years. I swore I would never go back after the fiasco that was Panda Land. There are so many things I disliked about WoW including Free Epics for All, dumbed down content, Chuck Norris Jokes, Anal Word fests and a stat system that gave players over a million health.
With the release of patch 6.0.2, I was curious. I wanted to see the changes to the game. I think the character models could have been a done better. Though with an outdated graphics engine, Im sure there was only so much that could be done. Going back to UBRS was a treat. Yes its the same as it was at release, just leveled up, but it was still fun. With the expansion coming in just under 3 weeks, I am not to worried about gear. As with all WoW expansions, the quest gear is better than the last set of raid gear. That in itself is a double edged blade. Its great for all players but a slap in the face to those who put in the time to get the raid gear.
I did timeless isles just to get a 496 set of gear, which didnt take to long. That gave me the Gear Score I needed to get into LFR. I got a few drops and got to see the raid encounters. I have to say Ive enjoyed myself.
After talking with several players who are in the WoD beta, I truly have renewed interest in the game. I was told that in WoD Expansion the difficulty level has been reintroduced to a Vanilla WoW level. To me that is a great thing. Also, Dungeons will no longer be a face roll. You will have to CC your way through them, old school dungeons FTW. If Blizzard holds true to these things, there might just be a place for me back in World of Warcraft.
Only time will tell.

Not sure if Warlords of Draenor can bring back the game that was wasted years ago. Even if it's a step in the right direction, its a bit late for the changes it brings, the game is old and its gameplay/engine shows.
I've read about the requirement of CC in dungeons and about the new world pvp zone which is great news but its something that should have been in the game ages ago.
Wildstar still feels like the better game to me in terms of gameplay although I dislike its lore and goofy graphics, a MMO is supposed to feel epic like WoW does, Wildstar does not. Whatever potential Wildstar had might aswell forget about it. Everyone is jumping ship, first the players and now the dev's. If they are not leaving they are being layed off. GG
WS did not reignite my interest in WOW, but it certainly extinguished my interest in mmo's after two weeks of trying to play that mess.
Maybe at the release of WoD I'll return.
If you are looking for answers about why WILDSTAR is one of the biggest fail of the MMO history, in things like ¨From wildstar back to WoW¨ you´ll find the answer.
Between a copy and the original for the same price, people will allways choose the original.
But the thing is... you all leave WoW to try them all... which says even WoW ain't all that anymore... it's just better than nothing at all... which really isn't saying much.
People have been playing WOW for years. All it says to me is that they are looking for something a little fresh and different to occupy their time, but when they are confronted with yet another game which is fundamentally similar but worse, they go back to WOW.
It's better than anything else which tries to copy it, which is like... probably 90% of the MMO market? We leave WoW because we're bored of it and we're definitely not looking for a cheap copy of it. While familiar elements are nice, to hook me you need to give me either something different, or something better than the original.
Exactly.
People want to play something else but the only thing these developers give us is another WoW. They buy these games hoping they are something better when they are, in fact, clones of WoW but not that good.
If they, at least, copied the WoW that used to have growing sub numbers..
WOW is still all that. Let me remind you game is a decade old now. And i would go back to WOW not because my choices are slim but because it is best themepark on the market right now.
I am a fan of the genre and have always tried the ones that look good to me. While I can say that after 6 hardcore years of WoW I was looking for something to take a break to, it wasn't just leaving the game because it was bad. Even when the game had me super interested, I still enjoyed trying other games. While I don't speak for everyone else, I can say your interpretation isn't as solid as you like to think.
RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray.
When people leave WoW only to return later, it isn't necessarily because "WoW isn't all that". Maybe people just felt like trying something new for once? No matter how good a game is, people get tired of it eventually in most cases and need something different. The fact that they come back to WoW after all could possibly mean that WoW really IS "all that", and the only reason they left in the first place is because they wanted something different for a little while.
People have brought up a lot of good points. For me personally, I think WoW still has a lot to offer.
A couple of things that really did in WS for me were:
Gear: Even after raiding.. player made gear was still better.
Appearance: Level 50 was level 50.. very little variety in how players looked.
Weapons: Other than the PvP Warrior weapon, the others looked like crap and were barely visible on your character.
Raid Drops: We have been in GA for 9 weeks and bosses have consistently dropped same pieces week in and week out.
Mounts: or lack ther of. I mean cmon.. a hover board.. even with flairs it was still plain.
Things to do at 50: EG Cap.. Dance around in main city.. Once your rep stuff was done, there was nothing outside of raiding.
PvP: Seemed like an after thought and extremely unbalanced.
