Yeah great, another review on a game system with poor combat development. Going back to my RaiderZ. Only problem of my game is low playerbase, if 10 000 people were to come in the game, it would be more successfull than TERA, but well, it lacks advertisement I see...
The problem with this game is the people who run it.
Have to play all the time to get a patrom memborship or pay to own property and paying a subscription has no benefits to casual players, by which I mean less than a couple hours a day.
Even with a subscription, you will not be able to find "land" to build something. While a lot of the things in this game are well done, they(the owners/controllers) have fucked it up for reasons beyond my ability to explain.
Play the free version, decide that it's not worth a subscription, then pay for the subscription and suffer buyers remorse. thats this game.
very good game in some ways but "GM" are crap. the most important issues are the large amount of bot do nothing. the system to take land and put your home or farm crap makes bot take more than 5 plots.
The big event that everyone expected Auroria disappointed many by the amount of bot taking all the land and the "GM" were not connected to avoid what happened when the game started (one player with 10 houses)
I recommend you wait for some solution to the problems. because if you start now you will not have to play ground and you'll have to buy a bot for 1k gold. or to connect to a server with low population

I believe the rating of 7.2 is far too generous. I was nearly fulltime player up through Auroria. What a fiasco. The only possibility of continuing play with some new content would have come from owning land there. Our server, dominated by the opposing faction 6-1 owned all four castles. There was so much lag on the final zone you were able to run through static players for over a half an hour without being hit by one enemy volley. Yet somehow they managed to farm the pebbles and get the castle before you could even tell where the pack bearer was.
Server side issues alone throughout the game's history may have earned a generous 2-3 rating, Social interaction is constantly bogged down with gold spammers again 2-3 for the ratings...
People considering this game should bounce to something else. When you find it let me know!

The review came out before Auroria was opened. But I agree it's quite generous given all major issues up to then.
A problem with reviews is that they're heavily weighted to higher scores. Things rarely get under 5, no matter how bad, when 5 actually means average. Giving a realistic score for some of the game's aspects would pull the overall down to 5-6, and while that would actually be fully backed up by the idea of something with 'much to do, but not always worth doing', I don't think we'll see it.

Whoever had the numbers won the land grab.
Everyone had people who couldn't get in but they just had more people left to accomplish what was needed.
Now that the zergs guilds will be getting about a ton of gold in rent they will be gearing up the top brass.
You have a few months before they drive everyone else away. Enjoy it while you can.
The biggest issue with the game is the RNG on every single thing in the game, combined with how much gear matters in pvp. RNG Crafting system (making crafting for profit a casino), RNG quality regrading, RNG lunagems, RNG gear drops, RNG with RNG ontop of RNG with a dash of RNG.
Spend tons of gold crafting 3 illustrious weapons (lvl 44), none of them are able to go up to T1 lvl 50 crafted? You can salvage the 3 weapons and make 1 T1 lvl 50 crafted... oh that one wasn't able to proc to T2? Try again. Oh that next try didn't net a T2 weapon? Try again. Oh you can't because it burned every cent you earned from doing trade runs for the past 30 day? Well run trade runs for another 30 days so you can try again.
In the mean time the guy who got T3 Delphinad weapon, then got lucky on his RNG regrades to Divine quality and got lucky on socketing RNG Lunagems is going to roll you in pvp over and over again until you get your T2 or T3 weapon.
The game has a lot going for it, and I'm fortunate enough to have a nicely regraded T2 weapon and enough skill to carry me in pvp, but the out of control RNG, useless crafting, land hacking bots, the reliance on stat creeping gear and lack of PVE content is killing the game.
I'll play the game and keep stealing fishing boats from idiots until it becomes a ghost town, then go back to waiting for EQN.
Another failure that could have been good with just minor changes.
I waited two or three weeks after launch before I decided to give it a try, the whole launch seemed way too messed up to experience that.
Then I got in, the first guild that invited me did not even talk to each other, everyone just did their own thing, no clue why a guild for that. The next I had a careful chat with the guild leader, who is a nice and social guy .. but the guild turned out the same everyone-for-themself theme. Somehow I thought that people open up land for the guild, but with over hundred members one did the little area around his farm house, while others had 2 or more houses, farms - and just did their own thing with them. After three weeks I had still no way of placing my large farm much less a house, the server was full to no end. Some people had managed to get several buildings and farms (4 large, several small) next to each other on the same char. It was utterly frustrating.
The few cases where something went up for sale the prices for someone without Pay2Win pockets and normal play style were outrageous high.
I bought for $20 credit as I thought it is ok, I usually spent money like that to buy a game anyway, used it for expansion scrolls for my inventory. Then the scroll did not work in my bank, said I need to have an expansion scroll ... I opened a ticket with Trion, after two weeks nothing, updated it saying I still expect and answer. By that time I had decided to let my subscription run out and see if things get better after November 4th (30% more housing space right?).
Well, a day before my patron status expired Trion (three weeks by that time point) CS sends me a message that my problem seems to have been fixed already so they close the ticket. I'm getting really pissed now because nothing was fixed.
I've heard from people still playing that the Auroria housing has been snatched up the same, more people with giant farm/housing projects and patrons paying no chance to get land. I'm by now absolutely out of here, the game without land ownership has nothing much to offer for me and if even paying a subscription is not enough for a single farm, a single garden and a house ... Forget it.
And what annoys me too is the whole me-me-me atmosphere that AA somehow instills. People block land in housing zones with small scare crow gardens or larger farms deliberately in a way that nothing else fits there anymore. If people were nice for once and placed their claims with some consideration there would be a LOT of space for others. So basically it is me (call it whining, I don't care) and my idea of being part of an community vs. both how Trion handles things and what kind of player community is largely attracted to the game. Griefing, egozentrism and all these things, I've seen enough. And I'm honestly not thrilled enough by the repetitive quests and all to start over at some other server or such where maybe there is a nice, communal guild ... -.-

Yeah this. At least in AoC and WAR, other games that had an irritating power creep, I could've been assured that the players were rolling me because of their years of experience. This game is a sickening whale hunt and showed me why WAR never stooped to going F2P
Really generous with those scores lol. As a former archeage player, I would give Longevity a 4. Maybe a 6 for people who likes to do something repetitively over and over again.
This is a post to warn players that maybe thinking of playing Archeage don't. The company trion that runs Archeage has customer no service. They have been multiple issue with players getting ban for so called 3rd party software. Most of the players I know that this has happen to where not using any apps but where in the area of gold bots. The last issue that has caused me to post this is a 72 year old man that has been paying form the start of the game has GM Firefoote fix a issue with them being stuck and unable to resolve by recalling. The GM Firefoote has to access the account and use tools to move them out of the area. Once the 72 year old gentleman log back in to his account seconds after GM firefoote had accessed it he was ban. Even after the 72 old gentleman sent multiple request and sending them the chat log with Gm Firefoote they refuse to unban his account and on top of it state to roll a free account .....WHAT?!?! I have been playing Archeage from alpha at this point I will say that I am most of my guild will be closing our accounts and request full refunds maybe this will grasp Trions attention.
