Shame on you Ryan Getchell. If you can't provide original content then find someone that can and will allow you to use it.
Dude...shut up...it's a screen. What are you...an artist now?
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to. Relax....."
On the other, logging in to Cyrodiil, having to spend 10 mind travelling to the action, dying 10 secs later then another 10 min ride, well I would soon get bored.
One of the major issues the game is having is the lack of end game content and entertainment. Pre-Patch; If you are not running with a great crew of PVP players, you would spend most of your time running around, just to die in moments. Most of your "PVP" gameplay was spent running from one point to the other unless you had or one of your buddies had a camp set up. Now the great idea is to remove the camp and guarantee the idea of running around like a dork....on what planet is this a good idea? This is a bad, bad move in order to retain casual players and it concedes to the elitist-jerk PVPers. IMO. Nice ZOS.
I understand how the opposing side of this arguement is saying it was dumb to move an entire army from one scout. But how is it entertaining to spend more time running around like a turd on a stick instead of PVP'ing. I'd rather get owned 15-20 times in 10 minutes versus running around and only getting 30sec-1min of PVP time. There has to be a better way to manage open world PVP and allow players instant action. Oh, I know FREAKING CAMPS!
The idea is to make the logistics of moving your force around the map require more thought. If you want rapid-fire PvP, on a short timer, then play a game with battlegrounds. That isn't what the PvP area in ESO was supposed to be.

Yeah, for Cyrodill getting rid of forward camps was good, but I would as love to see some kind of battleground type set up in ESO as well to cater for that desire to just get in and do some fighting. Although I know there are also arguments against this because it might cause a decline in the Cyrodiil population.

That's what I was "asking" for since beta.
I think they should have implemented battlegrounds "ala DAoC" (no fixed populations, etc.) with level ranges (+/- 10levels ) and smaller maps with less objectives (a single keep in the first, then you add to that with outposts, etc. with different map layouts, etc.). This could have been a great way to introduce player to the PvP aspect of the game too.. and a fun way to get quickly in the thick of the action.
Like you said, population might be an issue, but if you don't have access to any other BG once you reach 50, it may not have that much of an impact.
I am totally 100% new to the game(only two days).... but
the idea of forward keeps sounds pretty cool being able to hire mercs to fight for you. But rezzing at these camps provides lazy and strategy-less playstyle. Now you have to rez at a keep owned by you that isnt under siege. This is similar to how WvW is in GW2. In GW2 when you die in WvW, the consequence is a LONG run back to the battle. Dying is not trivial, and you do not want to do it. If enough players die, that gives the attacking(or defending team) a temporary advantage in numbers. Its not like they''ll be seeing those dead players within the next two minutes to bolster defenses or an attack. It forces you to play carefully and not corpse run the entire time.
But still, the thought of hiring merc NPCs to attack towns for you sounds cool too. If they could find a way to keep that mechanic in, that might be cool.
so its going back to the way that it was at launch? played for 1 month and we saw what. maybe 3 foward camps ever? what the hell is peoples problem. I left the game before ANYONE used foward camps for tactics. we never expected them to be used like this. whoever decided it was a good idea to do this abused the shit out of the game. that right screenshot is exactly what it should be.

I've said this before, too. Not sure why the hell they neglected to implement such "battlegrounds." Level buffing will never, ever place characters on even playing grounds unless they're already very similar in level. It was a bad idea to launch with a campaign that allowed level 50+ players to go up against newbies who are getting their first taste of ESO PvP. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
And as for the forward camp removal.. I get the whole "tactics" thing, but it will be very hard to implement force tactics if part of your force spends 5 minutes marching to the keep only to get ganked right outside and have to re-trek. They'll just leave, and you'll have no "force" with which to implement such tactics.
Interesting. I would of thought the major issue of the new patch would be about the implementation of the new XP system for Vet levels. Perhaps that's being saved for a future article.

Shame on me for whining. If you can't provide original content then find someone that can and will allow you to use it.
Dude, use a water-mark in your images if you're that concerned about your little screen-grab images (i.e. wowhead.com).
This is a great turn in the right direction for WvWvW balance for ESO!

Journalists that can't provide their own data or images. That's shameful.

It's a screenshot.... you don't own the rights to it, the company who produced the game does...The issues that struck Youtube semi recently should be proof enough of that.

its not a surprise however, this was communicated several times by Zenimax in interviews..
Maybe the moment, but not the removal of forward camps

On the one hand I agree with the article.
