Edit: Although I'd love to see it, is there any actual evidence to back up the OP's claim? This is the first I heard of it and would like to believe, but I must remain skeptical otherwise.

Yep.
It's a popular way for people to dismiss opinions of a game they don't share.
"I didn't like SWG. This person's saying they did... but that can't be, because I know it wasn't a good game. Therefor, nostalgia goggles". They may as well just say "You have a different opinion than me, and I don't like that". It's basically what's going on.
Wouldn't put a % on it, but a large amount of threads around here seem to revolve around people trying to find ways to dismiss or degrade opinions they don't agree with.
To be clear, by dismiss, I mean the whole "you didn't actually like the game, because it wasn't good. You're just seeing through nostalgia goggles". By 'degrade', I mean when someone doesn't like a game someone else does, so they insult their "taste in games" or say "only children like that game" or whatever.
When people say "I never liked that game..." and then proceed to give specific examples of what they didn't like, etc.. that's actually having a discussion. There are points you can debate or exchange thoughts on. It seems most people around here don't do that. They just look for a way to insult or dismiss any view that doesn't reflect their own.
There will not be a SWG reboot, there is already one SW MMO and Bioware have the license for some considerable time, and although I am not privy to what the license agreement continued I am sure they would of brokered that they wouldnt have a competitor that would severly cripple their game in competition.

Agreed, all the wishing and hoping are trumped by legal documents that undoubtly covered this very issue.
This is not a new story, It was even covered on this site as a feature. It showed a farm house screen grab off a monitor. It is not a swg reboot, but a game "they think" is made in the mold of swg. Again not SWG 2.0 but the flavor of the game.
Originally posted by SBFord Thing is, one of the comments Smedley made about Clone Wars was something to do with licensing. From what I've read, this will not be a SW game, but a new IP in the spirit of SWG. Maybe?
Oh and BTW.

Konfess your cyns and some maybe forgiven Boy: Why can't I talk to Him? Mom: We don't talk to Priests. As if it could exist, without being payed for. F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing. Even telemarketers wouldn't think that. It costs money to play. Therefore P2W.
We shall see what pans out over time. Not getting my hopes up.
Why would you get your hopes of over something posted by a completely random internet forum posters, with absolutly 0 factual basis, and also happens to be legally impossible?
People will believe any made up headline these days it seems lol.
I'm going to be a bit disappointed if they don't put Jump to Lightspeed into the initial release, the whole space+atmospheric flight thing needs to be integrated on day one.

You apparently think it's sad that I got my hopes up just a little bit with this forum thread. Why would you care? It did get my hopes up a bit for a few minutes because I very much enjoyed SWG and would love to see a re-boot. That's not wrong or evil.
I also don't believe in anything remotely close to "Legally Impossible". In U.S. with right Law Firm and plenty of clout like Disney has any contract can be amended or modified.
You are correct that the OP did not include facts or sources, links, etc. That is why I will tell the Star Wars Galaxies fan inside me to go back to sleep.
Although I do wonder....does Disney have any (secretive) plans for an online game for the new films? Disney has already shown they have an interest in the franchise and seems like they are going to go balls out with this one. I would not be surprised if Disney announced something closer to the this time next year. Perhaps some online version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens but in a more player driven approach.
Edit: As an example, they completely gutted the Clone Wars show and have now replaced it with Star Wars: Rebels.

This plus the fact that as was previously mentioned in this thread that game was H1Z1, Smed even said he was sorry that he said that on twitter after the fact because of how upset all the SWG fans were about seeing a zombie game.
1. As far as i can tell there is no link stating Disney is doing anything (and no i'm not going to do the research to try and find a supposed link, it's on the SWG fanbase to do this)
2. We have heard nothing, beyond H1Z1 stating anything in the realms of an MMO and in this day and age we should be hearing something, this isn't an anime where they can keep it secret until the very last moment)
3. Assuming Disney decided to do this they would have to work with EA, and from what i gather from the SWG fans they consider EA the devil (so you want people you hate to do a reboot? uh okay), and considering EA is a "money grubbing hoarder" there is no way in heck they would let another company make a SW game where it could compete and not get their hands into it, or own it, or something along those lines.
4. We'd have to get an entirely new engine because those graphics won't fly in this day and age.
5. When people think star wars, they think blasters, lightsabers, light/dark sides of the force, epic battles, character development, they do not think farmer, dancer and image designer and the only guy who actually raised a pet got eaten by said pet (not to mention he was smelly, fat and generally portrayed as an undesirable looking character and in it for like 2 minutes). People want to play the iconic characters (and by that i mean they want to be jedi/sith, the han solos, the chewbaccas, not the blue hair dancer or some extra to fill in the scene).
6. You'd also have to convince whoever took this project under their wings that this is a good idea, and from last looking at how SWG did that is going to be a hell of an uphill battle.
7. You'd have to also fix the bugs, because we gripe about ability delay, can you imagine what people would do to a game that has *gasp* rubberbanding issues, Might as well get the torches now, get ahead of the pack.
8. You'd need one heck of a bot protection, because you only need to look at Archeage to see how they can mess that up. Massive house colonies of bots and factories, Every planet would look like a factory colony.
In short times have changed guys if you brought a reboot out now, theres many hurdles, the game would look different, it most likely would play different, and people are much much more critical and have many more options, and thats assuming you can get the idea beyond the investors to fund a game that basically died several years ago and in their eyes didn't do that well at the gate (300K is nothing now a days). That is one hell of an uphill battle for something that has no link. Lets stop worrying about what the game could be and worry about if we even should try and reboot it.
Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.
Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.
this is the second time i have heard this on 2 different forums ... my excitement level is now high. All i ask is that they bring in Raph Koster to lead the game.
i wouldn't even give a crap if it had Disney-esque graphics as long as it brought in all the elements that made SWG great.
Comments
If this is true I would like to see it happen. Better off than being a lie.
Why the hell now, so many failed mmos out there costing hundreds of millions and not worth a penny.
No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
A known troll on the official AA forums posted this same thing around the same time there.
Either the OP and that person are the same guy, or one of them is getting their "news" from a troll thread.

disney gave the rights to produce star wars games to EA.
and since galaxies used to be a sony product - WON'T HAPPEN.
so next time maybe throw in some sources or just dont post.
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
What a tease. This is almost cruel.

The topic was moved to rumor room after it was reported for trolling. it didn't start in rumor room though.
