Limited supply of health potions - that's OK; familiar to any player of pen and paper, Baldur's Gate, even WoW etc. ..... at least I hope that's what it is.
Will be interesting to see what sort of business model Bioware are going with: no sub; I assume b2p and DLC - although they have talked about "free" updates, maybe a mix of free and paid DLC / full fledged expansions? A part of me has visions of them charging for potions, armour repair and who knows what else.
This is a single player game with multi-player component. It seems from your post that you think this is an mmo?

I don't get the hate for DA2. The outer areas where a bit disappointing due to the heavy reuse, but with all the praise Skyrim gets despite *everything* being reused over and over..
Too bad i most likely need a new computer first, which means i have to decide between playing TW3 and DA:I early next year..well, maybe i'll wait with DA:I until they released all the DLC, TW3 shouldn't be as bad in that regard.
personally i realy hope that they use as little DA2 gameplay as possible and its not 'cuz DA2 was reusing textures or anything like that, but because it was a dumned down borefest that shouldn't really be called rpg... for me DA2 didnt feal like rpg, but a generic game masked as some kind of "rpg" that tried to please bigger audience than rpg players and failed in pleasing more or less anyone (though of course there are exceptions and its only right there are).
So far it seems that we are getting a true, serious rpg game and i say its a bout time, im geting bored of Skyrim lets just hope now that all of this isnt just hype and that the game will truly be fun

I didn't like the DA2 game play but didn't mind the story at all. Though I do think they made some story blunders here and there.

Maybe, as in real life, you just ignore it and move on ...

I didn't even use Anders. Wasn't required.
I do agree that there was a difference between the versions which could have been mitigated. He felt to suddenly be a different character. For that I blame the writers. Or maybe the actor or if they use a Director then that person. Someone didn't make the transition smoothly.
Otherwise, I have no issues with him being a gay character and didn't use him because I didn't like his character regardless of his sexual preference (which I don't care about).

No.
As you say it is a single player game with co-op. A more interesting question, imo, is how many "mmos" are single player games with co-op!

Few negative things i was told from testers...no reaction from npcs regarding race...no small talk or stories from npcs even quests are just accepted without any story or connection...lots of kill/fetch mmo type sidequests...combo of tactical action combat seemed not to please all as lots odf testers thought especially the tactical side lacking in depth, necessity and ai behavior....
That's good, start the game out good then people will buy DLC as it comes.
Is the loot dynamic and random like Diablo? And does it have to be in chests? Why not a pile of poop with a legendary belt hiding inside it?
Does it have pick pocketing and pick locking or stealth?
Is there fishing mini-games and kinda things to do like crafting a fishing rod, fighting the catch or making a lure to catch other types of fish?
Exploration is great thank you, love that - can you swim and discover areas and treasure in the ocean? Can I go to the moon?
Can I side step the story and do my own thing? Is there a political system ladder of sorts including backstabbing and deception or assassination?
Will it need to be modded by the player base to make it better?
Multiplayer sounds like a joke, running dungeons till I'm a god sounds lame - I want to explore with my wife or friends within the game world and do other things with them. It's nice to play a game that doesn't have MMO player a-holes crowded into it.

I love the fact that you guys are reviewing RPG's on top of MMO's nowdays. Keep up the good work!!!! I rarely preorder a game, but this one I happily make an exception for!
Sounds like a good game but the fact that it was designed for a console is a turn off. I bet Witcher 3 will be better though.
so DA is a turn off because its designed for a console but then you bet that another game designed for a console is better? lol.
Even though i will get DA on console its been known for a while now that PC version has proper mouse/kb controllers with proper PC UI.
To me Witcher games are better than DA but still, as long as both offer proper PC controls (AND gamepad support) i am happy. DA2 has the stupidest controls ever with their point and click combat on PC, just like Witcher 1 did. ugh...
i hope the game is enjoyable. In the first 2 games i enjoyed killing Dark Spawns but this game completely replaced them with generic fantasy demons. Ill keep my eyes on this game to see how memorable fights and boss fights will be.
Gotta agree. Every character able to res (or appears that way from the vid I saw at least) is stupid. Other than that the game looks better than I expected though. I won't buy any EA game on day 1 but I'll be keeping my eye on it.

I honestly like the idea that all can res. It's much truer to "real" life in that anyone who participates in battle will do whatever they can to assist or bring back fallen comrades. As much as I thought I would hate the no healer thing going in, I have found that it is not a big issue and frees mages up to do other, better, more interesting things.
This game is going to be epic and will go a long ways to satiate my desire to play an MMO in an era where I feel MMO's are absolutely terrible. Almost 3 years without a steady MMO and a steady course of single player and multiplayer RPG's & ARPG's have filled the void nicely.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

I think this is the first time I've ever agreed with part of a post of yours, that this game is going to be epic lol. I still like certain MMOs today even if none have quite the charm I felt when I started WOW when that was released, probably because that was my first MMO.
Why won't the author give me the PC specs and monitor they played on? Waaaaaaaaaaah! lol.
I'm curious about exploration and previous claims that DAI was an open world RPG. I saw something in this video little after mid way (15:40) through that concerns me. Maybe I'm not understanding what I'm seeing here, but the part regarding the war room map makes it appear that you can't roam the open world and that you have to unlock areas by sending an Agent out first..... Is this the case? Can you not openly walk all across Ferelden and Orlais?
** I don't think I need this answered, he does say that you have tons of explorable areas you can unlock. So it's NOT an open world RPG like Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind etc.

did you played it on normal or hard?
Is there more tactical combat on higher difficulties?
Because im not a big fun of action rpgs
I wish there was more exposition on the open world and its systems (crafting, alchemy, etc) as that is where the longevity is derived.
Is there fishing? (I ask in every game) :-)
I'm based towards MMOs but this might be a decent hybrid.
No.

haha ain't that the truth!
Thank you for clearing that up. You scared me for a minute there!
Great review BTW. Hit on everything that a PC gamer would want to ask. I've looked at a few reviews and yours is the first to show K/M setup.

I want the Isometric view back, not just the tactical camera.
Also no healers = shit.
It's not as bad as it seems. Potions are readily available, porting to any town/camp instantly refills the party's pool of potions.
I played on Normal mode.
There is tactical combat at all levels.
You can play it as tactically or as action-y as you wish.
At higher difficulty levels, you will absolutely have to use tactical camera/movement. I found it very useful in boss battles.
Sorry! Not yet.
From what I understand, there will be a day of release patch that is quite comprehensive, though details are not yet ready for publication.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Game looks amazing. Bioware storytelling with Bethesda-type open world gameplay? Yes please.
