I don't know the details, but Archeage is really starting to remind me of another P2W f2p game- Neverwinter. There was a few economy breaking exploits, but they were spaced out over a year. In this game it seems like a new hack/exploit turns up every other week.
In that game it was very discouraging because you knew some people got their astral diamonds and gear through some cheap method. In Archeage it's maybe worse since PVP is the endgame.
since the threads in AA are being deleted, here is the summary of what's happening......
people found a way to have guranteed 100% sucess drop in their desired item from the RNG boxes...
and it's been exploited as hell

The RNG box exploit is quite amusing really. How to take the "RNG" out of the "RNGBox", lol
It seems the AA game code is absolutely riddled with exploit opportunities, and no shortage of gamers eager to find them...
There's still time for Trion to rollback. Although given that it's a Sunday and their past history, I'd be kinda surprised if they did.
Wow, I wonder if that many people are really doing it. I suspect so, as it sounds like a VERY easy exploit to figure out and do from what I'm readhing. (...how the HELL did XLGames or Trion miss it in the first place!?)
Shame. Besides how lame it was that Trion and XLGames missed it in the first place, it's also sad so many are abusing it. THey probably think they'll get away with it, and honestly, sad for me to say, judging from other MMO fiascos (not even just Trion's in this case. As pointed out, NWN is a good example), they very well possibly will.
Then again, it IS an exploit involving a cash shop item. Most companies tend to get VERY serious when that happens. If Trion does ban most of them though, I think most of the bans will be cash shop users (again, because it's from a cash shop item) which would hurt their revenue. Makes it interesting to see what will happen from here....
If they don't rollback this though, I imagine a lot of whales will quit over this. It's not fun to spend thousands for a delphinad only for everyone to get it. Given that whales are the primary source of revenue (per R2Games and like every F2P company ever asked), that wouldn't be good.
I hope Trion has the courage to do rollback + bans.
Exploit getting into the code is accidental, not reacting to one is intentional.
That's what you get when you become too greedy as a company. Seems more or less everyone is exploiting this "glitch". I am not playing the game for some weeks anymore but just from reading the AA forums I would know how to do it. Actually quite simple.
Sad to hear this, AA had a lot of potential.
Yea, I wouldn't be surprised if a ton of people were doing it when they normally wouldn't in most other circumstances because they either simply didn't care if they were banned or not anymore at this point, or because they figure that everyone else got away with hacking for so long that exploiting is fair game at this point or something.
There will be no rollback, that you can be absolutely sure of.
There hasn't been a single rollback since launch, and there have been far worse problems/exploits than this.
The "quick fix" will probably be to remove these RNGBoxes from the Cash Shop while Trion waits for XLGames to code a fix.
Proving beyond doubt that this exploit was actually used by a player is also extremely difficult, because it is a RNG process. It is theoretically possible to get 10/10 success with opening RNG boxes. Very unlikely, but absolutely possible.
The worst part that comes if Trion does not act is that the people who did not do the exploit due to having some kind of moral fibre will feel betrayed. They did the right thing and will get nothing and they will end up behind in the economy game.
But i agree. A complete and total roll-back would be the best. Or at least (but it will be a metric dodo-ton of work) refund all the box sales and remove all the items gain form said boxes. It will be to bad for the people who honesty lucked out but there is no way of knowing who did what.
But i guess it will be more cost effective to just sweep it under the rug, band some of the worst offenders (who i am sure have spread their ill-gotten gains already) and call it a day.
At least we got a special cape on the NW "caturdaypoalypse"
Not that Trion comes here and reads out posts... but if i had the ear of a dev i would say... Don´t be EA, be better. Because if Trion do like EA did when there was gift exploits in NFS:W,,, This will be popcorn worthy for weeks.
This have been a good conversation
people in game claim that this glitch/exploit was present from the launch, it was just well kept secret ......
so if this is true, what a rollback would mean?, complete relaunch of the game?

It seems quite plausible that the exploit has always existed. The RNGBoxes are not "new functionality" that was recently added to the game, there have always been RNGBoxes in the Cash Shop.
This exploit should work equally well with the loyalty reward "Daru Chests".
Bans of course hurt their future income, and rollbacks aren't really practical.
What I would like to see one day once they get a handle on these hacks, (if they ever do of course) is launch a few new servers so players could optionally get a clean start if they wanted to.

Whether or not this will effect the economy, I'm sure it will affect the trust of the whales who didn't know this exploit. It's a really sombering thought to a whale if they find out they were spending tons of money on chance while others were raking in the best items from those same RNG boxes. Given that whales make up the majority of most F2P games' revenue, that can't possibly be good for Archeage's future business prospects.
People have apparently realized that this same exploit works on a lot of other things besides just cash shop RNG boxes. Things that don't require real money to get. Which means there are a lot of other items flooding into the game. Like say, gold. Lots and lots of gold.
Apparently, from what people are saying on the forums, despite the influx of regrades into the economy from this exploit, the gold value of them and most other cash shop items seems to be skyrocketing....
Pay-to-win is bad enough, too bad for me to want to play. But cheat-to-win? In a cash shop game??
Oh man.

no need to buy 5 kits for the exploit ... you are doing it wrong
also 5 kits cost more than 250 g in AH in most clusters, days now....
