i dont understand what keep people playing such a dull game or why they always return to wow whenever a new expansion is released.
Heres the thing, its a myth that wow numbers show increases after most expansions.
Wow has declined in the number of subscribers from 2009 to 2014.
In that 5 year period, the number of wows susscribers only increased once in 2011.
It fell on the other hand, the whole time with the exception of that 1 increase in 2011 despite the expansions.
The reason people don't realise that is because fans of wow come on to sites like this and try to shut up anyone with a different opinion and lie about how populated wow is like they have done on this thread.
You can find the actual subscriber data online but people don't bother to do that because they hear so many mistruths from die hard wow fans.
Btw if you look at the actual data, wow has been declining year on year and at the start of 2014 had approximately 7.5 million subscribers, not the amount you guys claim at 10 million.
Not only that but wows decline has been steady, it has only increased once in 2011 before then falling again with no increase in subscribers, just falls until WoD expansion.
3 monthes from now, we will see the same thing again with wows numbers 1st falling to the 7.5 million it was at and then below 7 million and beyond.
Wow has been facing steady decline and its all plotted for you to see on mmodata.net.
Even if it drops to 5 million it is still impressive for a decade old MMO. So i don't know what you are trying to prove here? that a decade old MMO is losing players? *shrugs*
It will still have more subscribers than any of your favorite MMO you swear by.
uts very simple, I was trying to prove exactly what I said.
I wanted to prove that the people who said that wow isn't declining were wrong and I wanted to prove wrong the claim that wow even at pre expansion levels would have more subs than the next 5 mmos put together ( it hass less than 2 not more than 5) and I wanted to prove that the people claiming wows sibscribers were over 10 million were lying by using out of date data.
I write that right at the start which you didn't bother to read because you were so offended that I didn carry on the lies of wow fan boys.
Huh? nobody even disagreed that WOW subs are not declining. That was just you stating the obvious when no one even asked for it. You clearly hijacked the thread (no surprise there) and made it about something it wasn't.
And using the term 'wow fanboy' in every post on a newly made account with majority of posts obsessing over WOW.. doesn't install much confidence in anyone. That is why people are accusing you of trolling.
You are not here to discuss..you are here to start trouble as i am sure the reason you got your previous account banned. And by looks of it i think you won't last much longer on this new account either.

Internet cave dwellers such as yourself have been preaching of WoW's demise for the past ten years, and yet here we are, witnessing Warcraft suffocating and brutally crushing it's MMO competition which is rather impressive for a decade old game, to say the least.
All of its current MMO competitors would literally sell their souls to the devil for even 1/3 of this game's success.
Shuffeling 3 mil compies of their latest expansion... I would call that doing very well.
WE all know that WoW will never reach back up to the 12 mil it had at it´s peak. But that does not take away that they just sold a metric do-ton of games... Even if these new/returning people only stay for a month or two... Blizzard have secured the money needed to make the next expansion...
Face it.... Warlords of Draenor is a runaway success so far sales wise and we will see in 30-ish days how good the retention is.

Go read other peoples posts, you will see lies including that wow even at pre WoD levels had more subs than the next 5 mmos which I have proven wrong and claims that wows subs are 10 million which is false too.
You are blindly supporting wow like fanboys do so you don't check the date nor what other people have written, you just want to object to the truth because god forbid that people don't say nice things bout wow lol.
Sorry buddy you haven't proven anything wrong because there wasn't anything to prove. And the fact that you said 'wow isn't that successful' is pure baiting and i am not gonna bite anymore.
And me a WOW fanboy? bwahahah.. clearly shows you are just lashing at anyone who doesn't believe in your silly comments. That fact that you think i am a WOW fanboy is hilarious. Such a fanboy that i haven't played WOW for over 7 years!!
Why oh why isnt it possible to report someone for stupidity.....
sry mods. I take my bann now.
All his posts are baiting and personal insults. You don't even need to report him for being stupid since he is breaking every other TOS of these forums ::lol

Nope, all Im doing is proving the lies of wow fanboys wrong. The 2 lies in question were that:
1. wow even at pre WoD levels has more subs than the next 5 mmos put together. It doesn't, it has less than 2 and by a large margin.
2. The lie that wow has 10 million subs, someone even said more. wrong again, start of this year it had just over 7.5 million.
3. Not actually mentioned by others in this post but relevant because many argue that wow hasn't been declining. Wrong again. Wow has lost subscribers every single time since 2009 despite its expansions with 1 exception being 2011 but it declined again after that exception to its lowest point ever. It also began stagnating between 2007 and 2009 which is the only period in which you could have argued that its not declining, its stagnating but that time has passed.
Instead of being angry at me for stating the facts, why don't you just say fair play and that even as a WoW supporter that you don't support other WoW fanboys lying about wow to try to prevent its ongoing population decline.
You don't do that though because you aren't interested in the truth, you just want to push your agenda to keep wow populated and that is why youa re a fan boy.
Definition: A fanboy is someone who doesn't say the truth in order to support a game they like not because its good but because they have another agenda which in this case is you don't want WoW to carry on declining.
Don't be a fanboy, don be blind, you can like the game but like it on its merits, don't lie about it and dont support lying about it.

Obviously the population will decrease, but there is unlikely to be a significant drop in next...I dont know...decade?
Hardly. Subs will likely go back down to what it was before and depending what gets released next year then subs might fall below the lowest point. Really the market is total crap right now. ESO failed pretty bad, same with Wildstar. Next year we have Everquest Next and Star Citizen are the only ones off the top of my head that will most surely put a pretty big dent in WoW.
The point though the is the OP made this high praise of WoW reaching over 10 million subs which will be short lived. WoD isn't all that great of an xpac, there are a number of glaring defects that in the next few months players will start realizing like they do with all new MMOs or expansions.

sad but true.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

What is the lowest point? because i have been hearing how WOW will have this steep decline since Cata's release and it never happened. And when now finally since WOTLK WOW has a very solid expac again it will hit its lowest next year?

I wouldn't be so sure, I think WoW might hit the 12million mark again. The hype in the west is still pretty damn strong, people are enjoying it, except us Shamans, we hate it.
These numbers are from 11/13/14, WoD released in China yesterday. So going by mmorpg.com logic since China is almost all WoW "subs", we could see potential numbers near 20million.
I know my sarcasm will be wasted on a few, however I do firmly believe we could see a new peak.
Extremely unlikely seeing as WoW dropped consistently in subs from 2009 to 2014 with 1 exception being a rise in 2011 before falling again despite its expansions on the past.
If you were trying to forecast future results on wows past data, it would be that the decline will continue despite expansions as it has done since 2009.
Also it being at 7.5 million subs at the start of 2014, the lowest its ever had, sure its had a boost from WoD but we have yet to see the 6 monthely figures for that cuz WoD is new but if you base it on what happened on the last 2 expansions, 6 monthes after the expansion release, the number of subs were less than pre expansion.
Looking at the Subscriptions and Active Accounts with a peak above 1 million chart on mmodata.net
(all numbers approximate from looking at the wavy colored lines on a chart)
WoW (a paltry) 7.5 million (looks like pre-WoD)
AION a MASSIVE 2.4 million
Lineage & Lineage 2 a WHOPPING 2 million (combined)
SWOTR a CRUSHING 1.2 million
Runescape and OVERWHELMING 1.2 million
So....all of the non-WoW numbers combined are...let's see...carry the 2, put the integer somewhere over here....the decimal goes here...AH.....
6.8 MEEEEELYON Subscribers!!! Yes that totally out does the WoW numbers by 700K!!! Oh...wait....sorry.....*cough*.....that is 700K LESS than WoW.....pre-WoD of course....
Oh....and, the numbers for the Lineages were current as of.....hmm...2009
AION, SWOTR, and Runescape as of 2012.5
Wait...does that mean some of those are out of date?
Yup, I can see where he is coming from!!! (Oh, I am sure I looked at the wrong info, etc etc......)
And...before the fanboy accusation comes out.....played WoW from Beta Vanilla through the Ghostcrapper ruination. Wish I had never touched Catatonic and Pandaworld. Don't play now....hate what they have done to the game.
At it´s lowest point (so far) WoW had 6.8 mil subscribers. Blizzard them self have said that WoW now has broken the 10 mil mark. And since we know that Blizzard do not want to go to court we can assume that the info is correct.
Now for some history.
WoW reached it higest staböe peak around the release of WotLK at 11500 mil users. This then peaked to the mythic 12 as the pre-hype for Cata reached maximum.
We then saw a sharp drop down to 9,1 at the end of Cata.
The mist pre-hype again brought subscriptions up to around 10 only to see another decleine down to the above mentioned 6.8 by the end of the expansion before the WoD pre-hype kicked in... And here we are now.
It is worth mentioning that unlike Cata, MoP did plane out once at around 7.7 mil for a while and had a much slower decline.
So yes WoW have been in decline since the start of Cata, but as many have mentioned every subscription media goes through this ´phase. At some point the churn is greater then the new customers coming in. I did predict a few years back that WoW would even out at around 6 mil users based on how other similar games had done before % wise.
This also means that this is the biggest individual gain of new subscriptions that WOW have seen since launch.

Please instead of talking jibberish that means nothing, go check the link that I mentioned several times and go look at the actual data on WoWs subscriber numbers instead of blindly making up stuff because you are a WoW fan boy.
Go listen to the data and the facts, don't make up your own data.
Please stop linking that site, it is no way offical , does not have facts or inside knowledge on subscriber numbers, their info is about as creditable as yours, I.e not creditable.
Right now as I write this wow has over 10 sub's and has sold over 3 million copies of WoD, those are facts, you can theorise how many sub's wow will lose in 1 month or 2 months, but your theorising you do not have a time machine.
OOh and the lowest wow has been in sub's is 6.8 not 7.5 as you have incorrectly stated.

The logic is very simple, WoW has over time had their subs reduce over time. Did you live in a hole when during MoP that they had their lowest subs since its rise to power?
If you think that Star Citizen who has received enough funding to over a AAA budget MMO more than thrice fold then you're delusional. And EQN.... wells its EQ for christ sakes. Those will take a pretty big dent in WoW.
Rift, SWTOR, GW2, and ESO have all taken their dents in WoW. It's only natural that as decent MMOs come along people will leave as it suits them. WoW's subs will bleed over time, its the natural order of things.
Subs will go back to what they were a few months ago and as highly anticpated games release more people will leave WoW. Every expansion sees a surge in subs but this is short lived.
Don't blame others if you fail to grasp the logic that has been around for years and seen in the industry over the past decade. WoW might gain some numbers higher than MoP but no where near their peak. Everyone knows WoW has been in decline, while their subs are very health but the fact remains that their numbers have been declining and will continue to decline.

I didn't mention anything about retention, I said peak. Screw past data, WoD is not MoP and it isn't Cata. Unless Blizzard again cuts WoW's team in half they should be able to hit a new peak. Yes that number will drop, it happens. However it has a strong chance at breaking its 12million mark back in Wrath. We still have Asia numbers to add.
To say it is extremely unlikely means you're just hoping for it to fail, we have week old numbers on a new release. Asia hasn't been added to the mix yet. A new peak for WoW is well within Blizzards grasp. Unless you fail at understanding trends.
Very unlikely. Name one MMO that had retained their subs from a launch. And WoW's peak was when they pretty much had a monopoly of the market which the reality is that the market is very competitive. More so with each coming year.
Lol I really don't understand why you lot got so offended.
All I did was correct some lies made up about people about WoWs subscription numbers. I don't make up the data and if you were truly unbiased you would support the truth coming out and the data coming out.
The only reason I can think of that you hate me actually saying the true stats of WoW when you didn't oppose the fanboys who started this thread saying incorrect stats about WoW to support it is that you are so desperate to prevent wow from declining that you would hide the truth rather than support the merits of the game.
The fact that you would support lying to further your agenda means you aren't supporting wow on its merits but rather supporting it an d lying about it in order prevent any further population decline for your own benefit.
That bias makes you a fan boy as opposed to a trusted gamer who tries to garner support for his game based upon facts.
Who is offended? Not me. I said I feel bad for you. We're here because we like the game. You're here, devoting your own personal time and energy, to something you dislike. Think about that. Let the hate go bro, it's consuming you.

Their launches had similar sales.

Face it.... Warlords of Draenor is a runaway success so far sales wise and we will see in 30-ish days how good the retention is.
Name one MMO that was able to ADD 3million+ subscribers from only part of their region in a week?
How bout SWTOR, GW2, ESO, and Wildstar?
Their launches had similar sales.
You know full well he said ADD meaning not initial launch but from a co tent patch or expansioin, ADDing to an existing player base.

What is the lowest point? because i have been hearing how WOW will have this steep decline since Cata's release and it never happened. And when now finally since WOTLK WOW has a very solid expac again it will hit its lowest next year?
You my friend never met 'logic' in your life.
Also please spare us with this 'new X MMO will put big dent in wow'. Just like...
Rift
SWTOR
GW2
ESO
and every other wannbe WOW killer out there right? Its been 10 years let it go.
The logic is very simple, WoW has over time had their subs reduce over time. Did you live in a hole when during MoP that they had their lowest subs since its rise to power?
No but were you living in a hole when MOP was reported to be the most underwhelming expansion in 9 years? it wasn't receieved well at all so the decline wasn't that big of a shocker to anyone. But still by standards of any other MMO it did sell quite decently.
If you think that Star Citizen who has received enough funding to over a AAA budget MMO more than thrice fold then you're delusional. And EQN.... wells its EQ for christ sakes. Those will take a pretty big dent in WoW.
Yes i heard that during SWTOR launch ''it has a huge AAA budget it will topple WOW..if you don't believe me you are delusional'' and also 'it is Star wars for Christ's sakes'. Same hupla when ESO was launching. EQ next or SC are not any more or less hyped than all the previous big budget IP's.
Rift, SWTOR, GW2, and ESO have all taken their dents in WoW. It's only natural that as decent MMOs come along people will leave as it suits them. WoW's subs will bleed over time, its the natural order of things.
I never argued about natural order of things. Everything dies and withers away i know that. I was talking about your 'it will hit its lowest next year'..huh. really? just like that? you blurt something and its true? even when WOD is a much superior expansion than MOP and Cata?
Subs will go back to what they were a few months ago and as highly anticpated games release more people will leave WoW. Every expansion sees a surge in subs but this is short lived.
Again not what my reply to you was about. It was about your illogical claim that WOW will hit its lowest point in subs means even lower than 7 million in 2015.
I actually think it is quite the opposite. If you learned anything from past decade as you 'claim' you did... you wouldn't make such random and outrageous claims. that WOW will hit its lowest point in subs in 2015. because i have been hearing that since Cata. no doubt it will someday will be very low much lower than 7 million but it won't happen in 2015.. that is utterly silly thing to say.
So all in all i think you learned nothing from past and that is why you are destined to be proven wrong once again. And i am sure in 2015 you will shift the date to 2016 and so on.
Comments
Huh? nobody even disagreed that WOW subs are not declining.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Why oh why isnt it possible to report someone for stupidity.....
sry mods. I take my bann now.

Don't be a fanboy, don be blind, you can like the game but like it on its merits, don't lie about it and dont support lying about it.

sad but true.

Impressive numbers. Assuming day 1 sales include pre-orders how many of the other 6.7M:

I had to do it.....he forced me to look.....
Thanks for listening.

Going by the numbers we know it looks like this.
This have been a good conversation

Lol... but thanks anyways your post was really funny.

Who is offended? Not me. I said I feel bad for you. We're here because we like the game. You're here, devoting your own personal time and energy, to something you dislike. Think about that. Let the hate go bro, it's consuming you.
How bout SWTOR, GW2, ESO, and Wildstar?
