Why did you leave the last mmo(s) you played?

JemcrystalJemcrystal Member UncommonPosts: 1,988

I left    _________    because...

WoW  - idle log out got on my nerves.

Mabinogi  -  lag d/c issues.

Rift  -   no end game & tank/healer only dungeons.

Forsaken World  -  player griefing in the circus (only dungeon where free players could make gold but got party kicked often by idle accusation griefers).

Neverwinter  -  lag & lack of ticket support / forum dev communication.

FFXI  -  no mantras & as old as it is should be f2p.

FFXIV  -  huge craft system made useless by selling all materials and craftable items at npcs & to much update lag for a p2p.

EQ  -  quest grind.

So why did you leave your last mmo?

I left the last mmo, Archeage due to bad management and shitty publisher! If it was not for that i would stil be playing archeage and not WoW.

Now i am back to wow due to WoD, and i am loving it!

    mmorpg junkie since 1999

    Last MMO: ArcheAge, reason: Trion.

I left Wildstar because of the birth of my twins. No time with two babies.

    last mmo:  archeage

reason left:  I realized I'd have to bot or be part of a bot clan to compete

Hey op, what was your last and why did you leave?

  • aftabbooaftabboo Member Posts: 67

Last mmo I left was wow because:

1: they made inspect able to check skill builds and its not optional. I felt this removed any competition in character building in the game because people can just check your build without your permission if its better and they are losing to you.

    2. The game got dumbed down so much that there are no consequences for your actions, you don't suffer from making mistakes at all cuz everything is an instant fix and thus no rewards for doing anything right because there is no less good option, everyone does the same 'right' thing every time. I felt this took away choice, competition and interest in seeing the effects of decisions in the game.

Apart from this I tried neverwinter for 10 minutes but then read a review on how much pay to win it is so uninstalled it. I don't like the idea of people just getting level 90 boosts in wow either atm so that's a reason why I didn't go back this time (well 1 of the reasons).

Age of Conan due to lack of repeatable fun content

Rift due to lack of repeatable fun content

SWTor due to lack of repeatable fun content

Archeage due to lack of repeatable fun content.

I left Wildstar because of the combat.

I left WoW because of the rude players in dungeons.

    I am currently playing FFXIV

I left Wildstar because I didn't know anyone anymore. Everyone with whom I'd invested time in accompanying had left, so I was carrying people through dungeons to raid with a bunch of strangers. It got old.

WoW - Played Cataclysm for two months and enjoyed the challenging heroic 5-mans, then they got nerfed. I don't find raiding fun and PvP alone wasn't enough to keep me interested.

EvE - Game is great but the PLEX-system is a huge downer for me, being able to purchase wealth instead of earning it, so that made me lose motivation to play.

Haven't played an MMO in over a year now and it would take something special to get me to play again.

I left my last MMO because of the community.  I have pretty much decided that playing with the unwashed masses is not for me.

Wildstar - because there was literally no player around and guilds I joined disbanded. I don't like to solo every time I log in, so I quit.

ESO - pretty much the same reason as above. At least there were more players around and joined guilds, BUT, no one cared to group for dungeons, the search option appears to either be broken or just people don't care. Guild leaders and other players within the guild just soloing to level cap as fast as they can because level cap is when the game really starts. Funny I got more multi-player from Cyrodiil, but not into PvP. Need players for the PvE areas as well. Pretty much ignored if you are not level vet at this point. So  am back to Skyrim.

I left every modern mmo because I had seen everything there was to see and the only thing left to do was grinding gear that would be replaced in a few months resetting what I was struggling to do.

I stuck with FFXI for so long for 2 reasons, time invested in massive grinds that were never invalidated and nothing else was coming out for many years that was appealing.  These days grinded gear is wiped out with every patch, leveling is easy and new titles are more impressive than what you're currently playing.

There simply is no reason to stick with modern titles for years, it's more rewarding to just skip from title to title.

I left Archeage because I reached max level and was in a rut.  I will probably go back.  It is more an extended break, than an actual quit.

I last left FFXIV because i had hoped it was more than just a Wow clone but it is not.I left FFXI before that because they totally changed the game  in a direction i do not like.I guess it is clear Square Enix no longer designs games with passion but copies ideas they think will sell the most.

I guess the good note is Square once held my attention for a very long time, other developers cannot do the same.

I now reside in Gorgon,it is ok but lacks a few things i think may never happen like actual grouping design above simply making a mob tougher unless you have a group.

I am not sure why developers cannot think a little outside the simplistic designs they are giving us,i guess they don't like the idea of having to code difficult systems.Perhaps also why we see so many clones is they are just simple to design amounting costs are only because of inefficient management and over spending and lack of design concept.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I haven't played a MMORPG for a long time, last one was WoW around 2 years ago, since then i have tried a lot of mmos, left them all instantly, the reason? here it goes:

I logged in, completed a quest chain, realized it was the same shit all over again, kill that, go get that, deliver that to some guy at the other side of the map, come back, kill those now, blablabla.

Got bored of every single mmo i have played instantly, if i wanna play a quest hub, may aswell go back to wow, since that's a lot more polished game.

    Gah, double posted.

Asheron Call left for wow for for better update game.

WoW lost interest after 7 years to get paladin in to a dps role that worked and arena so unbalance then worst CM on the forums telling paladin go F*** them self..

Runes of magic the lag, and cash shop made to get in to wallet.

Allods way to much pay to win over the top for me to keep playing and to much force grouping and pvp, as well not in a top 2 guild  on the server your out of luck.

    FF14 force grouping and grindly.

GW2 lack of content and dungeons are bad hard to find a group if you want something your out of luck.

And Rift still playing noting better to get my interest to play some other MMO, I been trying other New mmo so far noting

    WIldstar

I left this one mainly due to its optimization issues. I liked the world well enough, but the game also seemed unnecessarily flashy. I felt like there was too much going on onscreen. Couple those issues with the realization I wasn't hardcore enough to complete a low level dungeon, and the sub ended.

    Guild Wars 2

Few games in my life were more anticipated than this. I bought the collector's edition and enjoyed the game passionately for the first year. Then came wind no new expansions would come out and Living Story would takes it place. I lost faith in the writing and their ability to deliver content. I don't understand how ArenaNet can justify their content, but whatever.

    Lord of the Rings Online.

The F2P transition was akin to seeing a cute neighborhood girl become a whore. Same body, different woman.

After these heartbreaks, I've come to come accept World of Warcraft as my Lord and Savior. In my mind, no other MMOs comes close and probably never will. I hate free to play and what it does for the genre, and I see WoW as the last bastion of an age gone by.

by now I always leave MMOs due to general bad attitude in the MMO community, way too many negative and bored people play these games now.....no space for just having fun.

no game can design its way around it.

I left my last few MMOs due to getting bored of the themepark ride
  • BathnorBathnor Member UncommonPosts: 137

I left EQ because I had little kids and didn't have the time to play effectively.

I left Horizons because it was not the same game that was hyped before the "blackout".

I left WoW because they kept making it easy, and flying mounts killed open world PvP.

I left Warhammer because of scenarios.

I left FFXI due to lag.

I left FFXIV because it was not like FFXI.

I left EQ2 because I did not like how heavily instanced the game is.

I left Rift because it is a WoW clone.

Out of all of these I have played Runescape the longest, I have kept my account active mostly due to nostalgia, but I can't bring myself to play because they have tried to turn it into WoW.

I left AA recently because i got sick of people bragging in my guild how they got away with Apex exploits.

I as a legit player felt very bad and though t there is no more point in investing my time and money in this game. So i cancelled my sub and gave Trion my feedback.

Their response was to ban my account for good.

WoW - Quit because it's just become way too boring. New expansion isn't convincing me to leave ESO, which tbh is a far superior MMO in terms of gameplay.
