One question: Has each member of the mmorpg.com staff been instructed to vote 4 or 5 times for GW2? Or have you guys been given the directive to vote as many times as you can?
Originally posted by BillMurphy Note also, the polls must be done on the full site. Not the mobile one. Did I mention I can't wait for the new site?
Did I also mention how much I can't wait for the new site either? Doubtful we're alone on that one.
The randomized matches sort of threw me. I cast my votes for the games I play or care about. My poor Neverwinter and EQ2 are going to get crushed. I predict, in the end, that the Justin Bieber of MMOs will win through sheer brute force of numbers.
Ah, the old set up to invalidate a win. I'm gonna do that too... if WoW doesn't win it's only because people are having too much fun playing it to be bothered with voting.
Its actually a really good bracket set up as far as I'm concerned. Yes some of the best games will get knocked out early, but that's just how it goes sometimes. Its the votes that make the difference.
I will say I'm surprised not to see SWG on here, might be for the best though, the QQing is already strong xD
You only have one life. Are you living it the way you should?
The newbie MMO list is quite strange. There's a lot on there that really shouldn't be and a lot missing that should. Not sure how you came up with these choices.
This site is very much in the GW2 camp so it will interesting to see if the WoW fans wil be able to rally better than the GW2 fans.
There will always be more fans of WoW than GW2. WoW will win hands down because this is just a popularity contest anyways. The interesting poll though would be to see which game between WoW and GW2 is hated the most. I still feel GW2 is one of the most hated games in recent history on this site which is ironic because outside of this site it's one of the most successful which is what it shares in common with WoW. It's not as successful as WoW but it shares a lot of the similar issues with the types of haters both have.

Well, been quite a while since I was considered a "young folk", but you are correct, subbed to EVE for over 5 years total, never played UO, so in my view, EVE was the clear winner.
If UO was really that great it never would have been Tramm(p)eld and would still be thriving today.

If you look at it as we have a number 2 game. We don't. Understand this is about having a winner as number 1 and all the rest are losers. /end
Might have been more interesting to just declare WOW the winner from the start and leave it out of the poll, then have a contest to see which title would really come out number 2 on these forums.

DF:UW and DFO are two completely different games. DFO had at least a few more sandbox features then DF:UW has in that you could focus your skills on your toon because you had access to all skills. You could focus on being a pure melee, a pure archer, a pure ice mage etc etc. They even had staves that amplified the various schools of magic to more custom your character. The fact that everyone could ultimately become a jack of all trades had a sandbox feel to it but it also made it so everyone eventually became the same cut and paste character.
DF:UW has almost no sandbox features in it. The combat is less evolved then DFO and crafting is even more restrictive then DFO's crafting was. The loot tables in PVE are less rewarding, but ironically DF:UW forces you to PvE more then you had to in DFO because of the prowess feats. If the face-off was Archeage vs DFO it would've been a different voting trend.

Really? People are crying about the match-ups? Gamers will cry about anything.
I like the idea of these polls. It's entertaining to see people cry about meaningless stuff.

We are going to have to act, if we want to live in a different world.
ill try and be diplomatic and say most of these games are not good in my opinion.
lets see how EQN and the repopulation will be.
Everyone should know that the LOTRO is most complete and truest, storydriven, most atmospheric MMORPG ever.
I have played and/ or tried most of the games above for my 29 years life span - nothing compares to LOTRO
So, a console game vs PC game? how is that fair?
Its like asking, do you play console or PC?
I have to agree with this comment, but if there was a game to beat UO and not terribly piss me off it would have to be EVE or SWG
It's in open beta now, so it's "launched" in the F2P world.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

It will come down to WoW vs GW2

This was a good idea Bill, cant wait to see how this plays out.
My dark horse is Guild Wars 1, which I think will go a long way, well beyond Guild Wars 2 anyway.
