But Trions EU / USA version is total trash... RNG boxes and exploits rule this mmo.
I would not recommend it to anyone after waiting for this mmo a very long time. What could have been an mmo worth years of playing is destroyed by a company's greed.
figure it out for yourself

honestly there needs to be a consumer protection vehicle in place for this industry - it's past due.
The fact is, if it weren't for the currency conversions where you can "launder" real money for pretend money. I'd have to wonder how many cash shops might be violating online gambling laws. But since these "currencies" are "in-game" they have no value in the real world. But Trion tried to cleverly word their claims that certain exploiters owed them money. If that wasn't a slippery slope to tread on, I don't know what is. I can only imagine what would happen if someone were actually able to establish a real monetary value on this in-game currency like Apex or Zen or Gems or whatever your favorite cash shop uses. Some of these games target minors and their parents who probably don't realize how big a role RNG plays into it.

I can only imagine the class action lawsuits against the industry as a whole that would ensue if that ever does happen. Especially since it targets many minors. All the parents of minors who used credit cards to purchase these in-game currencies. This business practice really is a loop hole and one that should be plugged.

You can give APEX a monetary value, they are $10.
Yeah, and that's the loophole that Apex's real world value is supposed to be in the same way that Gold in WoW has no real value. But they aren't the same really. Blizzard couldn't un-ban your account if you paid back your "debt" based on how much "gold" you owe them from Real money because there is no correlation, except for 3rd party sites, but Blizzard didn't really lose money on that. Trion did......Ten Bucks/Apex.
My wife and I could not past the first 10 min of game play. Between the bad avatars, the way they walked and moved. Combat was really bad as well. Maybe it gets better at higher levels but I just could not stick around to find out. FYI that was the fastest I had judged an MMO, I normally give it a few days of game play.

Its intresting that you bothered so much for a game you played for 10 minute to get on the forums bashing it.
The time played vs time bashed the game has come to new height mark here given that it took you some minutes to log in here and write a post.
Good for nothing ..........and ........No dam good
there is some mechanics there that could be good if they werent wrapped around such a trainwreck .. cant recommend AA in its current state and management imo ..

Nahh that's nothing, I've been bashing this game since before it released, I've never even created an account for it.
For an MMO what is most important is end game content:
This is simply the truth, nothing more nothing less
1. Farming (Like farmville), timers on everything
2. Crafting is very time consuming/money sink, so gear is obtained through grinding a dungeon called GHA, and the grind of collecting hundreds of tokens by killing the same mobs over and over for hours... Research this... its all Random Number Generator stuff... If you try to improve a high quality item, you can completely destroy it, completely out of your control.
3. Making money, mainly fishing or driving trade packs for hours and hours. Trade packs = minimal to no risk for money, or fishing which is more money however your at the mercy of pirates who can EASILY locate you with their radars...
4. PVP pretty much if you have the best gear you will likely win.
Getting to 50 is very easy, and once you get there, if you enjoy the above, then this is the game for you, who knows you might like it.
I wish I could say I enjoyed it... but I was very bored of logging in to farm 2 times a day, and then have the choice of fishing or going through GHA again. Not a good game to me.. and I spent 150 bucks on this thing..

If that $150 was from a founder's pack, you're legally entitled to a refund because Trion failed to keep their part of the 10% discount deal. Of course, that might not be the ACTUAL reason you'd want your $150 back but you don't have to tell anyone that.

You call that bashing a game? The OP was asking peoples thoughts on the game. You act like I made a thread here just to bash it lol
Well the OP's probably made up his mind already, but here goes.
I got the Alpha pack and haven't looked back.
Yes, it's annoying that there are exploits out there, but if you focus on what you are doing it just never matters. I love the trade runs and the threat of pirates. I hope future games are watching it closely to emulate what does and doesn't work.
I'm doing just fine in the game, no need to pay even a monthly subscription anymore as I fund myself with in-game gold.
I'd rather the game be strictly subscription-based, but I'm not going to let that ruin my fun.

Not to be contrary but what is difficult about AA? I just find it rather time consuming and grindy. My biggest challenge was managing my labor pool and trying to figure out what I was going to do during my play sessions. Progress is rather slow in the game if you are a crafter so if that is what you mean by difficulty, I can agree. If we want to talk about difficult games, let's talk about The Secret World and figuring out some of their investigation missions on your own. That game had me scratching my head at many points. All good fun.
Anyway, I resubbed to a theme park spoon fed game and I'm having fun again as I stated earlier in this thread. Still hanging on to AA but logging on every day to manage my farm and craft a bit isn't going to keep me subbing for much longer I'm afraid.
If you are looking for a truly "different" experience than what 10 years of Wow clones have given us, AA is a good choice.
If you love crafting and enjoy many non-combat related goals and are ok spending a significant amount of time progressing through non-combat, AA is a good choice.
If you are open to finding your own end game goals without being told "here is where to go next", AA is a good choice.
If you are looking for a game with more depth than the standard fare, AA is a good choice.
If you can accept playing AA and base your judgement on your own experiences instead of the vocal majority, AA is a good choice.
BUT!!!!
If you only find satisfaction and enjoyment through combat and only combat, DO NOT PLAY ARCHEAGE!
If you are a grass is greener kind of player and cannot get past what other players have and how they got it, DO NOT PLAY ARCHEAGE!
If your primary focus is a F2P game and have no plans to sub (patron is a must) or just want a "free" game, DO NOT PLAY ARCHEAGE!
If you have spending issues and cannot control your impulses then the cash shop will ruin you, DO NOT PLAY ARCHEAGE!
If you cannot stand the thought that there are exploits and cheaters in the game that while are a small percentage of the playerbase, will be ahead of you and in some cases take advantage of you. DO NOT PLAY ARCHEAGE!
My personal opinion from playing the game for nearly two years is simply that even with the Trion failings, hacks, exploits, bad decisions and more, Archeage is still the most feature packed and innovative MMO on the market. Combat aside, AA has the most ambitious feature set of any MMO for nearly a decade and there simply is no other MMO release atm that compares. So while many will condemn it (or Trion) for it's continued launch failings, there still is no alternative on the market and if you approach the game with the right understanding and expectations, AA can deliver a truly unique experience.

BTW Steelwind comes almost as close to DMKano as the most biased in favour of this game.
Originally posted by GeezerGamer AA is proof that no matter how good a game's concepts are, a poorly implemented, coded and managed game is still a poor game.

I think the worst part about archeage is that it essentially wastes your time. ON top of that it asks a lot of your wallet if you don't want it to waste your time. Exploits, cheats, etc, can be ignored if a game doesn't punish you for wanting to put time in. SWG is a good example of that, as it was just as poorly coded, and managed.
The selling point of archeage is essentially that it "goes big". AGain similar to SWG in that regard, it has a ton of features, yet it doesn't do any of them exactly well IMO, that's the biggest difference between the two games IMO.

I really enjoy AA and most of is concept (game has change since release but still).
However, there are still a few major problems like hacks and exploits where Trion/XLGames take long time to solve it (if they will ever solve it).
Its that kind of game where it has to be the players to be creative and work together trying to minimize the damage that bug exploits create, remind me the old L2 where NCSoft didnt do anything against the army of bots and we try to train them and kill them. Against hacks we cant do nothing but in that matter it seems better this last weeks.
