What would you suggest?

Hey all,

 

It's been a while since I've really played MMO's. Since I started working full time, I have only dabbled a little here and there. I've only been subbed for a few months out of the last two years to an MMO. I mainly find myself playing single player games, but I really miss the community and RP of MMO's.

 

So to the point: To any Roleplayers who have been around the block, what would you suggest for a decent RP community? As with many of you, WoW has been my main MMO for the last ten years. Sure, I've played almost every major MMO that came out before 2013, but I always ended up back on WoW. So you might think it's a no brainer. RP on WoW. Well, it's not quite that simple. 

 

First of all, just because I've played most MMO's doesn't mean I've roleplayed in every MMO. In fact quite the opposite. I mainly only roleplayed with a family member in MMO's, so I haven't really done it much with strangers. So here's my problem: The gameplay in WoW is so addictive for me, and the world so unimmersive (Simply because I've been playing it for a decade on and off.) that I never find time to RP. I just don't associate WoW with RP. And with my fairly limited time, I just don't have the time to jump through the never ending end game grind AND RP. I just want something I can level up in, enjoy the trip, and have the RP and lore be my 'end game'.

So what 'game' would you more seasoned Roleplayers suggest? Some that I've been checking out are: The Secret World, Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV, Neverwinter, The Repopulation or even non MMO's. I'd even be down for just an online game with a good RP community like Neverwinter Nights 1 or 2, Life is Feudal, or even Garry's mod.

Okay I'm done rambling. I just haven't ever RPed in many of these games, and I was wondering if some more experienced Roleplayers could save me the trouble and time of a bunch of trial and error.

The only thing I'm really set on is either a neat setting that really makes people want to RP OR tools that allow the player to create their own stories.

Thanks for any help, because with all the options out there, it's hard to know what is actually worth looking at.
