Many people criticize the Artificial Intelligence in this game, and in many others games.
Why don't the PvE content developers just don't take a look at PvP top teams, and look at their patterns to find inspiration for their Artifical Intelligence?
In PvP, you will find behaviours such as:
- Focusing fire (weakest target marking) => significantly weakens the Zerker meta in PvE (if you die nearly instantly),
- Resurrecting other enemies (resurrect allies) => control becomes much more important to prevent this from happening, perhaps several times in a row,
- Movement/damage avoidance (self preservation) => again, control or even movement becomes more important to catch up
- Conditions/boon stacking => constant attrition and also avoid removal
I'm pretty sure it is possible for GW2 developers to "shadow" PvP players, record their skill patterns and use these patterns in PvE. Because these are the "best" patterns to eliminate a group of 5 players, as proven in PvP.
Now I understand there would need to be more than that to it so that the encounters are not always the same and that you would need to give people some margin for error - as AI can have perfect timing.
But to give your average dungeon AI more "kick" and to use at least some of these patterns on each boss, wouldn't it be interesting?
