My wishlist for an MMMORPG game
First of all I am former oldschool player of Warhammer online which was closed 18th december 2013.
The game had many pros and cons and I will mention why this open RvR pvp game was so special and what made it the best rvr pvp game ever made.
A) It was open world realm vs realm game. It was designed for big open space battles for strategic outposts and keeps. Once You won all battles for all strategic outposts in once zone, zone locked for Your faction. You recieved XP and other bonuses for all of your kills during battle for actual strategic outpost You stand in/next to.
Yes, we already have some games rvr or mass PvP oriented, but they lack A) siege engines (GW2), strategic castles/outposts (Archeage) or games which have big battles with siege weapons(Elder scrolls online) which lack other aspects I will mention bellow.
None of them combine everything in to 1 piece.
Descent PVE. PVE in Warhammer online was not so important, because game was designed for mass PvP, still there were some funny dungeons with awesome rewards which could boost Your PvP experience and give you advice over Your opponents.
C) Unique Classes.
There was no 100% mirror betwen those 2 factions. I dont want to discuss if it was good or bad and personaly think it could be better if Devs will keep balancing the game insted of abandoning it.
D) Standard class roles: Healer, tank, mele DPS, ranged DPS
Some of them was more focused on support, some of them was more focused on DPS.
I really dont like the new "COOL" concept in MMOs where everyone can do everything. Ranged class like bowman can ress, heal, tank, etc( GW2 or Elder scrolls online)
Heals and ressurection was restricted to healers with some exceptions( For example engineers "healing" barell which heals for small amount all friendly target in the range)
E) Game mechanics.
The last game where game mechanics works as they should work. Blocking with shield block 100% incoming damage, evade, parry and disrubt avoid any incoming mele, ranged, magic damage.
Tanks had abbility to "GUARD" one party member which meant guarded player recieved only 50% of incoming damage and other 50% recieved the tank. Guard abbility was switchable fast so tank could react fast for enemy focusing on his party members.
Tanks also had challenge AOE abbility which cause enemies in range do -30% dmg to the party members.
Tank also has CC abbility like AOE roots, AOE snares, single target knockbacks and knockdows + buffs for party members(strenght, toughnes, magic rezistances, armor) and others.
That made tank classes essential for PvP
Look at tanks now in GW2, Archeage or Elder scrolls. Compared to Warhammer they are more likely useless for PvP.
Every character had his unique class mechanics of building class resources. More resources You had, the bigger dmg or healing numbers You did.
Also every character had 4 tiers of morale abbilities which were charging during the fight. Longer the fight was You unlocked more of those abbilities.
F) Scenarios. You could queue for instant scenario(like battleground in World of warcraft) where You need to hold strategic flags to win and earn some scenario only bonuses and resources to buy PvP equipment.
G) locking zones for Your faction lead to fight for the capital city of enemy realm, and fight against his higher Warlords.
Mix everything mentioned above in to 1 piece and You will have pretty funny mass open world RvR game with unique classes, where every class has its role(tank, dps, heal, support).
NONE of the newest games(even upcoming ones) can compete with my wish list.
Some of them has great PvE and battlegrounds(world of warcraft), but lack of open world PvP for some strategic castles with reasonable rewards from killing players in those areas.
Some games has descent PvE and one area for mass PvP(like Elder scrolls online), but with horrible game mechanics, no target lock which makes damage, healing, assist completely chaotic and random-
Some game sare sandbox open World PvP with nearly to no PvE like Archeage, but agian game mechanics are far for excelent Warhammer online ones.
I wish MMOrpgs based on Open world realm vs realm PvP battles with siege engines for strategic castles.
Game with traditional roles, clear target locking, without any jumping avoiding dmg like in those menationed above.
Game with descent PvE and unique not 100% mirrored classes.
If You read to this part, thank Your patience and I appologize for my bad english.
Leave comments below.
Some linsk showing tanks/dps/healing classes in action:
Tank class, order side, dwarf, Ironbreaker(spec for off dmg tanking)
Healing class, order side, dwarf ,rune priest:(pure healing spec):
DPS class, destro side, dark elf, Witch elf:(rogue like class):
AND THE TRIBUTE MOVIE ABOUT ZONES, KEEPS AND LAST MOMENTS OF FIGHT UNTIL GAME WAS SHUT DOWN.

If you like Warhammer Online so much then play it. I cannot give you a link to it for I got a warning the last time I did so, but just Google it, it is there in the top 5 results.
I am already signed for this project. I am just saying it was the one and only MMO focused on RvR large battles. No other MMO even the upcoming ones bring all aspects mentioned in my post all to 1 piece of game.
Also played Warhammer Online from day one. For me it was the best and most fun MMO I've ever played, for all the reasons you mentioned Antropof. There's always the people complaining the characters weren't balanced at start. "BW should be nerfed boohoo". I never had any trouble getting BW down with my Witch Elf tbh. And the complaints there was no endgame. We didn't care about that, we were just too busy having fun in the RvR lake or doing Scenarios. Or just log to another character and play in a lower Tier.
Since the shutdown I've been playing the game on the private server. And even though it's far from finished. Playing just one available scenario gives more satisfaction than games like GW2, Archeage, Rift, SWTOR, TESO. For me those games just didn't 'have' it.
I do admire the people working hard on the private server but I really wish some company would pick up the original game and re-release it. How hard can it be? The game is there for the taking.
I have to disagree I'm afraid for several reasons. Firstly WAR wasn't the best RvR game made, DAoC did a much better job of it, still with the same features you mention like not having mirrored classes.
WAR made the mistake of going the WoW route and implemented Scenarios as the only form of PvP but the testers caused such a stink they gave in and added the open world RvR later but they fucked up. Keep bosses had loot, which led to realms taking turns so they could farm the loot. That alone ruined it. Add to that the rediculous realm balancing, or rather the lack of it - Can you say BRIGHTWIZARD! - and it was just a complete clusterfuck.
My main reason to disagree is more fundamental though, I don't think both systems can co-exist comfortably in an MMO. You end up doing a poor balancing act of abilities in PvE compared to PvP. Every time a class gets nerfed in <insert game here> you get cries of how they are now useless in raids, and the reason they were nerfed is because they were OP in PvP.
You only need to look at what happened to DAoC when they released the Trials of Atlantis expansion to see what happens when you lose your focus on what the core game should be.
In the last 10 years practically every MMO to release has tried to offer both and failed in some way. That should be evidence enough. But we live in the days of casual games for casual gamers, who want a bit of everything thrown in, and as a result we're now subjected to mediocre shite with every new title that comes along.
Yeah I really liked Warhammer as well, but essentially what you are asking is "someone please make a Warhammer clone" (not an entirely bad idea!).
Both ESO and GW2 have similarities with Warhammer and in some respects improve upon the formula. I also note that your gripe about tank classes is completely unfounded in ESO and GW2 - tanks are extremely powerful in pvp in both those games. Not to mention that you can lock onto targets in both of them as well.
My words are likely wasted though since you appear to have closed your mind and are demanding Warhammer or nothing, even though there are two other fantastic mmos that have implemented RvR extremely well, each in their own way.
I think this projekt will be close to warhammer online expirience-http://landofbritain.com/
Now,i'm not sure if they can make it,but for now sounds like a good mix between daoc and war.
I am not saying, that tanks in other MMOs are not powerful. Dont get me wrong. I am saying, that tank in other MMOs PvP doesnt bring as much as tanks in Warhammer did.
I am not saying Warhammer only or nothing. I am saying, that Warhammer onlie had some "old", but extremely well working class system.
Real class choises in new MMOs doesnt exist. Everyone can ress, heal, tank, dps mele/ranged/magic.
If you mean "improve the formula" Do you mean an discusting jump/dodging all over the place called "skill"? Doh!
I was playing ESO beta. The lack of target locking, completely random healing, Stealth for everyone system, animations and mentioned "everyone can do everything" was why I didnt continued with that game.
GW2 endless dodge/jumping and need to finish up targets with all of that abbility animation mess, absence of mounts, limit on abbility slots, another tank uselness in pvp(yeah, they are tough) and tons of tons other things what makes me to only try GW2 and dont continue further.
Some people play MMOs for several reasons.
There is sort of people who play MMO for housing systems socializations and PVE only. I say why not.
I belongs to sort of people who like never ending endless larg scale/small scale PvP. I dont care about housing or super in deep crafting. It is what distract people like me from our main purpose of playing PvP oriented MMos(killing other players)
:-)
"Yeah I really liked Warhammer as well, but essentially what you are asking is "someone please make a Warhammer clone" (not an entirely bad idea!)."
Yes please, and hurry!
"I am not saying Warhammer only or nothing."
I am :-D
