The game does expand, but all the reasons that got us leaving in the first place, will still be there.

Expansions in games are quantity changes. People that leave want quality changes, most of the time.

You can't put back in what wasn't there to begin with... it was a selling point remember... no trinity.

There's plenty to do in the game... it just doesn't revolve around the concept of endgame.  You want endgame, you look for it in another game, simple as that.

This game never marketed itself in any way or form to be the game you are seeking.  You can't blame the game, you can only blame yourself.

Hmm, you guys are trying to get us back to the game and the best thing you got is that "it's my fault" for giving a playstyle i wasn't fond of in the first place, a try? Thank you for proving my point, that the expansion is just a quantity change, more of the exact same thing. But i will suggest you guys open up a new, less ultra-optimistic,  thread than this, something like "anyone coming back for the xpack?". That would be more honest, given that you barely had any positive answers so far.

Who is trying to get you back into the game?

Of course its more of exact same thing, they aint going to redesign the game just for you, there are quite a few more people who actually LIKE and PLAY the game the way they advertised it.

I got 4 characters to 80 within the first 2 months.  That alone was a big reason why I won't be coming back.  GW2 is a very well done game but I dislike many things about it that I want out of an MMO.

    1. True progression, via loot and skill.
    2. Freedom of choice for my main skills and what to put on my bar.
    3. Lack of Elves or other non-human type of races.  Tree people, furry ogre beasts, large giant humans and small wee people are not the type of races I want.  All my characters were human but I want more races like Elves, Dark Elves, Trolls, Dwarves and Orcs.
    4. Slower leveling speeds.
    5. Open Worlds not tricks dressed up to look open.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

It's a well made game but I can not understand the devs for how much effort they put into living event stuff. They were good for a day or two but if the same effort went into proper persistent content we could be seeing a 2nd expansion pack right now.

Game is weak on every aspect it holds.

PvE: not in depth, no reason to do anything but smash your damaging skills, once in a while heal yourself

PvP: same thing with PvE but against other players who do the same.

WvW: feels very dull and most of the action you can find is pointless as classes are pretty much same, making your effect inexistant on a bigger scale.

These are the things that they cant just adress with an expansion pack. I would not go back to this game unless they decide to turn the whole superficial eye candy into a proper game with proper ending where I dont have to get cosmetics.

Zero interest in the expansion. The game is just not for me. More power to those that like it though.

Wha?  One of the main things this game has going for it is that it gives you a bit of freedom from the typical linear quest hub grind.  You run out into the world and do what you want.

I have not read up on the expansion.  I may get it if it adds actual content over lame living story updates.

Edit:  Just read up on the expansion.  Looks pretty good, some actual content possibly.  Hopefully they are adding quite a few more zones, can't tell if they are adding many zones or just one.

You play MMOs for all the wrong reasons, at least this one.

-playing just because your friends play = wrong, ever thought if you might like the game? Following the FOTM and what everyone tells you to do is the best way to get burnt out of a game.

-grinding and skipping all content; just to get to "endgame", best way to get burnt out.

-pvp is anything BUT a zergfest, it is a option to run along, small groups and solo pvp everywhere in GW2, and if you get killed by a zerg....well......then you are just bad at pvp.

I doubt you will find any MMO to your liking if you are just getting through the content asap to get to maximum level because ofc "that's where it all starts for real".  The end game is the END.

Unless you are a WOW player, then you can powergrind to max in 1 day or put $50 on the table to get there straight away and enjoy the 'endgame grind' till you get bored...............again.

GW2 is for players who want to enjoy the game, not for players that are for insta gratification.

Why on earth would you think that?

I for one would certainly prefer that people stay away if they disliked the game at release. The expansion is made for those of us who likes the game - Not to turn it into something it was never supposed to be!

OFC it will not be for people who craves trinity/gear progression and whatnot. This thread seems rather pointless.

    More common sense let's go!

Hell it's even people in this thread who were on huge crusades against this game before release and have been for what the past 2 years?

Yet I agree this thread is pointless because it's almost obvious who won't be returning or who never liked the game but puts on an act, one thing I like seeing in this thread, is  the people here who stated the obvious, yet manage to be in almost every other thread since this thread was created(some are on a rest but will be back shortly) "It's freedom." one would say, but the point is why waste time with something you know you will never like.

Shoot I should be over in Final Fantasy threads stating why I don't like the game everyday, but then I realize that there isn't a valid reason to do so, why should I be in a game's forum  arguing it's success or mechanics if no matter what it does I know in my heart I won't like the game? There's no reason what so ever but I understand it's how the forum operates.  I just have enough sense to be like I'm not going to give a game more views, keep it in discussion, and etc.

What's really interesting is that there are people in this thread who have posted and made their claims and reasons, who are going to buy the XPACK and then come back on this very forum and say "Hey I told you this sucks, I don't like it, I wasted my money. The game failed for everyone" It happens all the time and I know GW2 isn't the only game that goes through this. All I'm going to do is think to myself "Well damn I thought they weren't coming back for the xpack, oh yea that's right you can't let go of your pride you must win the forum debates and etc."

    Eh well.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

I'm certainly not going to waste money on expansion for a mediocre action coop rpg game personally, so no.  I'm not coming back for the expansion.

Some 2 years ago I bought it and leveled my Necro (was it the name of the class?) to the max level. There was a couple of good moments, but at least half of that time I was mostly forcing myself to play, hoping that "something" will happen when I finally ding.

Nothing happened, the design, the combat, the humor...everything remained meh. I just quit, never planning to return.

Ah, yes. Some quite nice jumping puzzles and the landscapes... to me, these were kinda wasted on such game. I might log in some day to jump around a bit, or just enjoy the landscapes. But not more than that.

     W...aaagh?
