A new heavy armor class is going to be really nice, been waiting to try out one of the "soldier" types, guardian and warrior weren't for me. Also, being able to use the legionaries is a nice different take on the way the other professions are handled, should change up the gameplay for sure. Looking forward to this!
So many things to be excited about but the Echoing Eruptions skill which casts a cascading blast finisher was the one that most intrigued my interest. The devs said it would be very difficult to use all 3 blasts on your own fields, but you could blast someone else's field that was further away. That combined with the Coalescence of Ruin skill which causes more damage the farther away you are from your target should make for some very exciting teamplay and encounters!
Seeing the livestream yesterday convinced me that I will immediately roll a Revenant on Heart of Thorns launch day, I'm saving up my Tomes and Scrolls for an Insta-Rev!
I'm excited as to how differently the Rev can play depending on the different Legendaries they are attuned to. In the live stream the Dwarf was obviously more "tanky" and even had ways to effectively peel from friends using the taunt ability. However, switching to the Demon Legend turned your gameplay dramatically to a condition specialist.
Can't wait to see what the other Legends have to offer.
Some of us are just hopeful that they'll revisit and complete the fleshing out of the rest of the game. Taunt is a good start on the road to killing Zerker once and for all but we really need something strong to complete the picture. We need support roles to actually matter, we need conditions to actually crit on their dots so their damage is worth it, we need condition stacking to work properly. All of this is needed in PVE combat for it to be back where it should be. PVP balance is fine so long as it doesn't interfere with PVE gameplay.
I'm holding a "wait and see" attitude when it comes to this expansion because there's alot that they need to fix in the process of also updating the game for this expansion. We'll see if they can deliver. Hype is fine but you need to take things seriously in this industry.
From the official artwork Revenant really reminds me of how a demon hunter look from Warcraft, apart that you don't need to be an elf. The special idea that separate Revenant from other classes is a clever move; able to gain some kind of special slot that only legendary heroes from the mist will be able to define this slot is very interesting. So far the two stances sound interesting, I am wondering if these stances also affect visual appearance? Also in the further expansion or DLC adding new stances will change and refresh again how Revenant playstyle feels. This is indeed a very clevermove!
What makes me most excited about the Revenant is it being able to be the first to range a hammer, as well as bring in some lore from the original Guild Wars that I never got to play. So if ANet is playing their cards right, I am hoping this profession will not only bring a challenge but bring some information about the old GW as well.
This class feels very well designed, at least for pvp. The skills and traits really give it a handful of very clear and intentional strategies. I can't wait to see the rest.
this expansion is going to change so much and make me come back to gq2 which is pretty boring because of several reasons that for me will be solved with this next release.
Just picked up GW2 a week or two ago, so everyone else's optimism at the changes is encouraging, since I have no real comparison. I should be set on content!
The thing I'm looking forward the most about the revenant is all the links and throwbacks to GW1 lore, the fact that the legends are important GW1 characters, the whole idea about energy management being the cornerstone of the class.
I must confess that i was about to sell my gw2 account but i may wait for the HoT update and watch the revenant that looks really badass, and is heavy armored my favorite in every game.

What can men do against such reckless hate?
