So sad, but so true...if you're really rich enough to pay $150 to "play an unfinished product faster", then you should not have any reason to complain.

My guess is that the OP is a poor bloke who was never educated in proper spending habits. I'm sorry man, but now you learn that you need to use PROPER JUDGEMENT when spending money.

Spending money on a hobby you enjoy is not misguided judgment.  The fact that this happened to OP has nothing to do with how, where and when he spent money.  The fact is that AA is a scam and quick cash grab.  This is something you hardly ever know when a game is in Alpha.

I also don't understand your first sentence.  So, if you are rich it's ok to get ripped off?  This literally makes zero sense.

Yes strange some peoples logic isn't it ?  .... sigh

Just an FYI...  A few of the key people responsible for Rift have left Trion in the first few years after it launched.  Without key talent to re-create the Rift success, they tried bringing in some new talent from other games.  Nathan Richardsson, one of the founders at CCP games (Eve Online) was recruited as well as several others for Defiance.  That game tanked worse than the Titanic.  So then Trion decides to import an existing game (Archeage) and just publish it.  This worked great during beta and all signs pointed to a second success but greed got in the way and the game was launched with more restrictions than had been in the beta.  At first it seemed to do well but then steadily lost players and is now a small player-based niche PVP game.  Trion has also tried to copy another successful game (Minecraft) and capitalize on it with Trove but again, poor leadership has resulted in a less than stellar player base.

The sad fact is, once Hartman became the CEO, Trion stopped caring about making a great game and only focused on the money.  They rarely post on the AA forum, keep the loot drop rate for key crafting materials at less than half a percent while offering those same items in the cash shop at a much greater chance of dropping.  I loved Rift and the original dev team that created it but sadly that talent has mostly left Trion and this is easily proven when a person looks at their game releases since Hartman took over.  It is not the same company that created Rift and it certainly is not the same leadership.

sorry for the banned account and the pay pal/account issues, that really sucks and i hope you get it back.

As for the rest of your post. YOU and EVERYONE who decided to pay $150 for an alpha access KNEW what you were getting into and still blindly paid for it. You looked for trouble and you found it. Dont pretend you are a victim and got $150 stolen.

I decided to pay the 150 dollars ( £109 ) in good faith, as it happens I never received any of the benefits of this purchase as my account was compromised ( which is all they told me Btw ) so yeah I do feel like a victim , as the person who stole my account received the benefits of my purchase and not me , the have refused to re-instate these benefits to me , so yeah I am pissed and I do feel that they have taken what is rightly mine and not some scumbag hacker's ... hope this helps ;)

I have strong password on all my online accounts , most Mmo companies will instantly send you an email if some scumbag is trying to log in to your account, Guess what I got from Trion .... fuck all , zilch nothing .. it wasn't until I checked my Paypal account that I realized something was wrong , because I wasn't actually playing the game when my account was Stolen.

I give these online companies my personal info , payment details etc  in good faith .. the least they could do their end is maybe a better job of keeping my account safe.

And guess what .. they apologized for not sending me those email's when I got my account back , so make of that what you will ;)

I too shelled $150 for ArcheAge early access.  I can afford it and I was bored.  Decided I didn't want to ruin the fun when launch would arrive so I stopped playing.  Never logged in since.  I continued to watch streams and read up on AA and I no longer found it appealing.  I won't bore with you details.  Trion's just the publisher right?  Can't really hold it against Trion.

I played Rift on 2 separate occasions and enjoyed both of them.  Why did I quit?  Well, just like in any game you know when you're done and when you are, you leave and if it was a pleasant experience, you might go back.  I was pretty impressed with Rift.  Sort of said to see the 180 turn that company seems to be doing.

After experiencing Rift when it was the new game on the block I thought, Damn, I'm gonna check out anything Trion puts out.  They are awesome.  Now their reputation has fallen for what seems multiple reasons.  Sort of sad.

I wasted money on the game as well. The list of things they did to screw people who paid pre-launch is too long, aside from breaking consumer law left right and centre. It was an absolute disgrace. The game itself ended up being a cash cow and an example of the very worst kind of ethics you see in MMOs. Of course by having such a scam over the founder packs they no doubt funded the company for a year, so the CEO is probably being congratulated on a job well done.

Yeah I personally will NEVER buy anything Trion Worlds again after they screwed me over on the game time I had remaining of 67 days  for ArcheAge (paid for a 90 day sub) in which I got the 'Blue Screen Of Death' on my computer at LEAST once an hour. Mind you I have 6 OTHER MMOs on my computer and never once do I get a BSOD, only ArcheAge. All I wanted was at least a refund of 60 days of gametime since the game is basically unacceptable when it crashes my computer this frequently. A POS game from a POS company...I just call it how I see it.

    Its very wrong

ArcheAge is an XL game - XL has 99% of control over the game including cash shop items, pricing and all content. Trion can ask for things - XL can say no or yes as they wish.

    This is reality.

Yes it is true many cash shop items are direct port from korean version but APEX is an item added by Trion. And as publisher they have lots of control over cash shop BUT they can only ask XL to code the item into the game, they can't do it. Just like Trion can't add their own security coding to the client of AA. Trion has no control over game code and that is what hurting AA and Trion's reputation. As i have wrote in another thread, REX was never exploited in Rift yet the same type item APEX was exploited like crazy in AA, it is obvious that APEX was no coded by Trion developers. Same way security feature of client is compromised due to XL games bad coding and crappy gameguard software. It is easy to deduct from the performance of Rift and AA but that is not what some people in this forums are able to do, they thought AA was their new mmo messiah and they got burned and now they cry and whine.

All you have to do if you really want your money back is file a complaint with your credit card company for $150 non delivery of item/goods your account will stay banned anyways if you do that but you get your money back. (There is like a month limit to do this, you could try after but its unlikely you would get it back.)

The most likely thing that happened is an account compromise unless it was just you who actually did something illegal although I am going to assume this isn't the case, when a account gets compromised like any game account owned by TRION if you use PayPal anyone can make purchases through your account without your PayPal password this means if you go on vacation for lets say a week, and come back someone can charge over $1000 USD to your bank account and make it go negative unless you set a billing limit in PayPal for the specified company just as a security measure.

And I agree Arche Age sucks bad game all around my opinion, I would not have anything to do with it, on the other hand RIFT, and Defiance seem like okay games, not the best but decent.

So what you need to do is call their customer service, or file a support ticket and ask about it if your account was actually compromised its likely you will get the account back, there is no reason TRION can't lift a ban, but from what I understand someone might have gained access to your account if you got emails from PayPal about returned funds in that case TRION can help fix the issue.

    I concur with the OP.

Avoid at all cost. Nothing has changed.

I have stuck with this game since release. I have not been suckered into the

    Facebook game monitization they implemented.

    Nothing has changed.

Economy is busted. All the sinks are in the cash shop.

Support is basically unavailable. 10 to 14 days response on tickets.

Cash shop /market place updates ,,,(frequently)

Major items = cash shop items.

    ETC.

I thought Trion would get a hint and change some of these core issues. They have not.

    I guess they making money.

    Close our wallets:)

I still had two accounts I was paying for in Rift, got two accounts for AA with the wife.

Since I have cancelled my rift accounts, my AA accounts and will never ever play any game from Trion.

IF it is free I will not play it.

If someone gave me a key I would not play it.

If it was a game I really wanted to try and Trion is involved I will not play it.

Everyone has an opinion and from dealing with Trion in AA I'm of the opinion the gaming world would be better off with out them.

Yes the email associated with the account SHOULD have been notified. The simple obvious reason is once suspicious activity arises it is their duty to inform you as just a MINIMAL security measure, otherwise they have shown NO care what so ever fro your account security.

Simply closing the account may have already been far too late,as you mentioned your pay pal had been used,so they neglected to show even the slightest courtesy to you which is a big no no.

PAYPAL is actually a really good site to complain to,report their lack of security to Paypal and that they failed to warn you which normally ANY transactions give notifications to the email on record.
