I am just a sort of casual player and dip in and out of all sorts of games.
Long story short , I paid these scumbags $150 for early access to Archeage , played for a few weeks and then decided to wait for full release.
Upon coming back to play a few months later , I was greeted with " The account you are are attempting to use has been banned "
I then notice multiple Purchases from my paypal account which were refunded about an hour later.
This came with no explanation or email just nothing just that message when I tried to log in.
I feel very offended by this and have now emailed them to demand an explanation and my account be restored.
If I don't get any joy I am going to take them to court for the $150 that I feel they have basically Stolen. I am going to do it on principle and I am lucky enough to have the means to do it.
I am sick of these companies that think they can Ban people for no reason with no consequences , If I had done anything I would be the first to accept it and move on , this is just unacceptable behaviour.
I await there response with baited breath.

Thanks for that , I guess I am not the only one then ...

Thanks for that info, I guess maybe I might just have to suck it up and move on regardless then .. Its shocking what these game companies seem to be able to get away with, really does leave a bad taste in the mouth
Lesson learnt maybe about buying into Sugar coated early access promises though ...
That's how it ended up with me.
Well just thought I would let you guys that were kind enough to post in this thread know that I got my account back , I had to give them a shit load of info first though.
Kyleran was right , they wont reinstate my credit , it seems I will only get a glider and some other useless faff.
Also all my characters are gone , I don't know if there was a wipe at launch, or whoever scammed my account deleted them all.
I have also deleted my paypal payment method just to be on the safe side.
Anyway after reading forums for past 24 hours , I wanted my account back on principle ... but I'm not sure I am even going to bother installing it again.
Just go's to show what happens if you take your eye of the ball for a while

There was never any indication that alpha characters would carry-over to the launched game.
What they actually said was that the alpha server data would be backed-up and may be used on a test-server. However, since they subsequently decided that they didn't need public test servers (unnecessary expense), there is no way to determine whether they have broken any promises.
Always read the fine print. Everything is covered in the fine print. Anything that is not expressly covered in the fine print is implicitly covered...
Sounds like a lot of people are angry about some things that are standard MMORPG practices.
The gametime thing is pretty common when you pre-order an MMO. The moment you've redeemed the key, your account starts running the moment the game goes live (and if you don't log in during those 30 days of "free" time, you've wasted them).
There are some that require you to activate it by entering another key that you get when the game goes live. But the above is far from unheard of.
Beta and Alpha characters are pretty much guaranteed to get axed at the end of testing. Many of these got where they were by exploiting balance issues or outright exploits during testing. Not to mention you can't launch a "new" game with a bunch of people already having a bunch of max level characters. I've also never known a single MMO that was nice enough to put them on a Test server for you to keep forever. (Especially since most MMOs tend to wipe their PTS' from time to time anyway.)

The sad fact is that the consumer laws of most countries have not kept pace with the digital age and software companies / publishers take advantage of it. At some point the laws will catch up and then you will see all these same companies bitching and whining about how unfair it all is.
Who pays $150 and then dont login to play for months ?
really ... paying for service not using it for months ?
Won't follow OP's suggestion about Trion.
First.. Trion dint did anything to me. I got Patron after a month and still have Patron status renewing it timely.
I don't cheat, hack , buy gold from illegal sites etc. so i havent been banned and no ever experienced a problem with accessing the Archegge service.
Second they brought this wonderfull game to the west. The best MMORPG of the last decade, i am thankfully for that and appreciate what they did to the genre by this step. i love em for this i had so much fun last time 2003 -2005 wirth SWG pre cu with a MMORPG,
Trion releasing the work of XL games put back the MMORPG into the MMORPG's.
I liked TRION before playing Archeage, and absolutely hate them now. They just make terrible decisions. Starting with having 0 say about what truly happens with Archeage. Poor infrastructure and decisions on what to do when it fails. Failing/lying about promises they made. Very poor customer service that takes days to reply back to you. Poor communication about what's actually going on. The list goes on.
They'll never get another dollar from me.
Nope, no mistake there, the so-called "alpha" testing for Archeage in NA/EU was "alpha" in name only.
The NA/EU servers were running game code that had been on the live servers in Korea for well over a year. It was fully functional and smooth gameplay, and as bug free as any MMO a year after launch. It was not free of exploits and hacks though, but that's another story entirely.
The only development work done during the alpha in NA/EU was translating the Korean text and dialogue to english, as well as integrating the game with Trion's account management software and localized Cash Shop implementation.
Many players said that the months on the alpha server were actually the most enjoyable time for them in Archeage. I'm one of those players.
So sad, but so true...if you're really rich enough to pay $150 to "play an unfinished product faster", then you should not have any reason to complain.
My guess is that the OP is a poor bloke who was never educated in proper spending habits. I'm sorry man, but now you learn that you need to use PROPER JUDGEMENT when spending money.
step one. buy something.
step two. complain about the thing you bought
step three. ignore an active account for an extended period of time
step four. nerd rage because someone hacked the account
step five. nerd rage with side of lawyer hard core because you didn't read the fine print
step six. customer service basically resolves your idiot issue. ...totally ignore earlier childish nerd rage.
Best way: do not buy into hype.
Hype is never good, hype always promises more then they can deliver.
Just be patient and even better, wait out the storm after release. So many players that can not contain themselves with buying early access packages (looooool) or mass rage trying to log into overstrained login servers on Launch day.
Wait out just a bit and you might save yourself $60-$100 when the dust has cleared and the first unbiased reviews come in and you see the game isn't exactly what you thought it would be.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
I don't know why you guys are hammering the OP so much, he lost access to his account for no reason I would be angry about that too, especially if the game cost $150.
OP did you find out if your account was hacked, or was it just some error on Trion's side?
Hey thanks for the support , all they told me was that my account had been compromised and then I had to change the email associated with the account. I also had to give a shit load of info , like character names , serial key , time I installed it , how many times I take a crap each day ... blood type .. blah blah , you get my drift
And as for the people hammering me, if it makes them feel better then fine ...
