My mail to NCSOFT

Just sent this to NCSOFT

Dear NCSOFT, whenever I contacted your support department over the years, I always got the feeling that I'm being treated as a criminal at worst or a nuisance at best. At no point did I feel like a valued customer. Also, your low level support employees seem incapable of providing a useful reply. Whether this is because of low intelligence, difficulty of communicating with human beings, or company policy, I can't tell.

I haven't played your games for a while, which makes it easier for me to let go of the accounts I have in your system, accounts which are no longer usable due to your recent account system change, and which I can't re-enable for an unknown reason. I feel that trying to deal with your support department to get them to work is simply not worth the time.

I hope that you never publish a game I really want to play, because I will be sorry to miss it. I don't want to play games of a company which doesn't appreciate its gamers.

Yours sincerely,

    ET3D

Long story short, I got e-mails from NCSOFT about changes to the account system and that I need to long in and do something. In return, I'll get 400 points. Cool, I figured, I'm not using them currently (or playing any MMO, for this matter), but perhaps 400 points might be handy if I decide to return. So I logged in, authenticated, but unfortunately there was an error in the process, and the site told me to contact support.

Contacting support immediately reminded me why I've always hated NCSOFT support. Immediately I was told that the details I provided aren't a good enough identification, and that I should provide as many details as I can from a list of items. It's an old account, I was never that good at keeping old details, but I did manage to find some City of Heroes codes I activated (game codes were one thing they wanted) and an unique account id for Aion Europe. In response I got told that Aion Europe accounts were transitioned in 2012.

I said that yes, I know that, but I was hoping the id could help, and asked if the City of Heroes codes were any help. I got told that no, they don't, and that I should provide a picture of an id card.

I suppose I could have gone through with that, but since that's more or less the way it goes with NCSOFT support, including the inane replies which show lack of understanding of the issue, I figured it would be better to just stop using NCSOFT accounts. I think it will be better for my health in the long run.

There was no change with the accounts for "400 points"

    You fell for a scam.

Actually you can get 400 NC points if you upgrade your account. NCsoft is upgrading their account systems and getting rid of their old system. So they want players to move on over to the new system.
