Intro after character creation...

Please, please tell me that someone has found a way to skip this completely?  The consensus seems that you have to suffer through it, but most of the comments are months old so I'm hoping someone has a fix for it by now.

It's boring, all but interminable, seems to date from the 90's what with the lack of speech and really makes no difference in the long run.  All that tedium just to click on a couple of choices???  I hope someone can help.

Yes, I can help. Stop playing MMOs. Find a new hobby or go out or something. Seeing your post in that other thread I don't understand why you even bother. You'll just make the game experience miserable for everyone around you.

its the opening of a mmorpg with a story , and since u dont need to create more than 1 char , is a video u will only watch once...

why ppl bother buying a game and the 1 thing they do is "esc/space" smash throw everything the first time ?

in FFXIV u can skip every cutscene but that one....

if it bother u so much , just alt tab or go take a walk....

Yeah if you don't have time or patience for a 10-15 minute intro, FFXIV is not the game for you - to be blunt.

It's a much slower paced game than is typical these days.

Ah well, I shall plod on for the rest of the trial and see how it goes.  I generally have "alt-itis" and create several characters but I think I'll just stick to one for the two-week trial.

Thanks for the knee-jerk "troll" accusations.  Always a sure sign the community isn't that good.

apologies, i tho u were another user ....and btw u cant have altitis in FFXIV , since 1 char can change class at anytime outside combat , welcome to Eorzea

No one called you a troll, that was all you.

They did answer your question but added information with some assumptions. Though, in truth you also called yourself a jaded gamer so that tends to color people's expectations right there.

There are thousands of people who play this game imagine that coming to a conclusion based upon a few posts seems to be jumping the gun.

Also, the starter movie is "slightly" different depending on the city you are in. Essentially the same content but one is on a ship with some differences and one is on a sort of coach.

Final Fantasy XIV: ARR has awesome story, you shouldnt skip any part of it But after see you can skip all cutscenes etc from options menu

I still don't understand why companies insist on unbreakable cutscenes. I get it with the publisher logo etc. on the first startup. But after this one occasion, everything should be skippable. After all, you are paying for the game. €60 for a new game should be enough to be allowed to skip the advertising, and once the game is released, it's up to each one how he enjoys it.

Even worse though is unskippable cutscenes, after which you automatically get moved to a new area, leading to another 5-10 minutes loading, and an immediately triggered boss fight. When you die against the boss? Back to step 1, the cutscene. When you win? Another cutscene, another loading screen.

Not bashing FFXIV specifically, but i wonder how people can defend unskippable cutscenes and videos.

Doesn't matter whether it's 10 seconds or 5 hours, if i want to skip it let me. It's not yours (random people on some forum, or the developer) to decide.

I think that all cut scenes should be "skippable". However, if the cut scene has important  info, it should be made so it can be revisited.

The cut scene the OP is talking about, though it does have the final fantasy logo at the end of it, should at least be made skippable if you see it once.

I've deleted/remade many characters because they didn't quite look right once in game and have had to sit through it many times. It's tiring.

we arent talking about a cutscene that plays everytime u log in , is the opening of the game once u have created your character and whatnot :P , and isnt skippable because u only watch it once (since u only need 1 char to play every class ) .

My guess is that isnt skipabble so "newbies" dont skip it by mistake.

p.d There is an aestheticien on FFXIV so u can change your face , hair ect no need to recreate your character anymore! (outside of race change or sex change )
