I am posting this for all the redditors that have negative feelings against our company, Aventurine.
I'd like to tell you this:
We understand you.
We understand the mistakes Aventurine has done. The false promises. The mismanagement. The communication errors.
We are enraged ourselves about these things as well.
We frequently discuss amongst ourselves that bringing DFO down and starting from scratch was not the best option after all.
** We are a new development team **.
Most of the current members are hired by Aventurine after DFUW started. And those that were here before that were in other positions.
We hope, with your help, to bring about the magic that Darkfall deserves to be.
We want to deliver the game you want.
We are doing our part...we are here, underpaid, or not paid at all some times, working incredibly long hours, under circumstances that are very stressful and difficult, putting our lives and our families on the line in order to create this game.
We want your constructive criticism. We want you to tell us what you do not like from our game and what would you like to fix.
We do not mind the negative posts and the trolling, it does not affect us. But it doesn't help make the game better either. You are wasting your time, simply vending your frustration, but in the end what we all want, i.e. a better Darkfall, will not be achieved by being negative.
Here is our plan:
1) fix the base game; this means: fix the UI, fix the economy, fix the loot tables, fix the resource distribution, fix sieging, fix sinks/faucets, etc.
2) make the game free trial; create content.
Right now we are at step 1.
We hope, with your support, that we can complete step 1 and then start with step 2, which is the most interesting part.
As you have already seen, the last couple of months the new dev team has started following a different route regarding the game in general...we have opened all communication channels and we want to talk to you, and we want you to talk to us.
So please, we want your constructive criticism, either negative or positive, on DFUW.

At least he has "create content" tacked on there at the end. Its a pretty vague term, but in general, it what I find lacking in every sandbox game. There just isn't enough reason to play the game. I need goals to work towards. Individually, but also group based and guild/clan based. Conquest alone for territory in a lifeless backdrop of a world has never made for good, long term gameplay. People need things to work towards to improve their character and have a reason to log in, just like any other rpg.
I'm probably putting more stock in those two words than they deserve, but clearly changes need to be made, and admitting that is the first step.

That means a fresh stream of noobs with capped stats coming to the game.
I'm sure it will make the gankers happy.
Content is needed for sure. Although I just can't put my finger on what content could be in the game.
Something I miss with DFO was the tactical locations of holdings. There was a reason to capture a holding on a specific location to farm a specific monster for instance. That disappeared with DFUW due to bad loot tables and monsters existing like everywhere.
The thing with Darkfall is that it requires population to be good and if it got well amount of population, the game is REALLY good. If there are clans enough to cover the entire map like early stage of DFO. That's when the game can shine the most. But content is needed and there should be reason to get a holding.
The game is still top 3 in my opinion on the market. The ideas and concept are there, but there are just a couple of pieces missing in the puzzle and I can't put my finger on what it is.
