The OP is right, the game is great. Obviously not for everyone - but as an mmo it is a very solid game which is only lacking a solid playerbase.
The leveling experience is the best i had in an mmo. There is so much to do, to explore.
The crafting is great, too!
The dungeons are challenging, fun and rewarding.
It has a very polished ui and is well rounded, feature wise. The housing, the costumes, everything fits well together.
After the EU-Tera publisher killed the game, i resubbed to wildstar and had a blast.
There is so much to do when you reach max-level.
I experienced open world raids and events with huge amounts of players participating.
I even did a 40v40p warplot
The telegraphs... are not that bad. After i deactivated friendly telegraphs and nameplates it isn't hurting my eyes anymore. I even found a way to disable damage numbers popping up
I see a quality game thats way ahead of its time as far as progression mmorpg experiences go... this game has so much potential and the only thing holding it back is a loyal fan base of players...

yet you come here trying to persuade everyone with YOUR own opinion.
I played WS myself and i cannot stand the poor combat and poor class design. Those two features are powerful enough to make me not enjoy, play, support a game. I get it, you love the game. Well, i love the graphics, smooth animations, and cool sense of humor. I dislike all the other more important features.
Does the game have potential? of course, if they make some serious changes and improvements. People are not leaving the game just because.... They are leaving for different reasons, all of them valid (except the ones being influenced by others instead of actually playing, but after having the proof of quality in their faces, many would not want to risk purchasing the game to be disappointed.)
The game just ended up being NOT what they were trying to hype.
Typical white knight approach, blame the players not the game or the developer.
When a game fails this hard like WS did it's because of the game itself NOT the players. This comes from someone who beta-tested WS with a guild for 6 months, raids included. Who bought the expensive collectors edition, raided Genetic Archives and 4 months into release just had enough and quited allong with some thousand others.
So you made the decision to buy the game, not the developers!
Sounds like it's in fact the player's fault since you couldn't control yourself from purchasing the game. Rather than taking accountability, you will instead blame the developers for opening your wallet.
Well I have seen a lot of your posts and I know you always valiantly defend WS and often in a offensive way.
However...
Technically you just said he made a big mistake by buying the game.
Is this pointless mockery really the way you want to defend your favorite MMO?
It just didn't seem like paying a sub for, there are so many better games that are free or b2p, and other sub-games that I like better as well. I don't particularly like the setting either, the art was well done I thought, but meh, it just didn't grab me. It doesn't really feel like it does anything particularly "new/interesting" either.
For example AA had various elements that I hadn't seen in a fantasy mmo before, ESO was wildly different to other mmos, GW2 had great pvp, FF14ARR has the classic FF aesthetic and beauty, Tera brought solid action combat and massive boss monsters along with a wonderful Asian aesthetic, etc.
Wildstar just didn't bring anything to the table that really interested me.

This is just my opinion, but the combat in WS is better than any of those games you listed. It's smooth and responsive, the telegraphing adds another dimension, and the AI is challenging. Don't get me wrong, I play and love all those games you listed (except AA), but I find the combat more exciting.
Another thing people forget to discuss is the great housing system. I rank it up there with the very best, and although I don't considered housing a game breaker in any game, it is available, and done very well.
No WS is far from perfect, but it isn't a total failure, at least not to me!
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
The appeal was it was going to be hard. It was not.
apart from the dungeons the character design, itemization, and world design was poor following that boring themepark quest grind model.
Even the dungeons people were praising of being "brutal" were less than something you saw in the BC golden days: remember the patterns = win.
Then again this came after i played TSW where if you got hit by an aoe/telegraph you instantly die, as opposed to widlstar where you just get knocked over.. was a bit underwhelming...
--
But the reason it failed imo is that it was 7 years too late.
The market changed and although they tried to keep up (its fairly obvious that its original design did not include telegraphs and other "popular" moba features) the "mass" of people simply did not want a wow clone.

Well as we know opinions differ, I thought the combat was ok, but it was nothing on most games I play in which I think combat is good. The telegraphing goes totally against my philosophy of what makes combat good, and the combat in WS is all about telegraphs.
I didn't think the game was a total failure, its a beautiful work of art. I was just saying some reasons why I don't play it.
Sadly... I'm playing on the PvP server alone in all my glorious acts to go unnoticed by the likes of you all squandering to find your lovely perfect mmorpg ...
All in all... I find it funny that ncsoft is pushing BnS after so many years of being left in the dark about the project... And to quote the immortal Chris Rock:
"New p*ssy is better than old p*ssy"
I'm not sure Blade and Soul will be "new", it's been done before on so many levels. To me it's another asian WoW clone and everyone wants to play it because they can't have it. If it's as good as FFXIV:ARR I will give it a try though!
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Wildstar with all of its little flaws is such a great game.. and the only potential it is lacking is the support of a fan base that would throttle this game into some really great online experiences for people...

Personally I don't think thats what he means. Carbine has made some great changes and without people coming back to check it out they won't ever know. The game failed hard because the end game was to rigorous and raiding was almost impossible to get into. Many positive things have been adjusted in the title and he is just asking for other players to check it out.
The game was hurting badly long before most had even gotten to the raiding content. The leveling game was painfully boring, linear and carpal tunnel inducing.

Once again, sorry you have problems with carpal tunnel, but I and thousands of other haven't any problems with it. The game isn't anymore actiony than Tera or GW2 imo. The leveling is the same as every other niche title out there. Other than perhaps GW2 and maybe ESO, it is all the same fetching and killing quests for leveling in almost all titles.

Like I said, the entire thing started breaking down at end game.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
To me it was just the opposite. Simply the most boring game I have EVER played. Kept playing it trying to find SOMETHING that would grab me....never happened. To each their own, but I think the numbers would agree with me.
I don't think the problem is with the game as much as it is with the players.
Ask ten old-school Everquest players about their game experience and you will get ten different stories, and not a whole lot of overlap.
This is because back in the "old" days players took the game at face value, focused on what they liked about the game, and ignored or minimized what they didn't like.
Nowadays players can't seem to overlook things they don't like about a game, they want all parts of the game to be appealing to them. If a "PvE game" has any PvP at all, that's a deal-breaker. If an action-based game has a deep and involved crafting system "too many resources are wasted on crafting". Everyone seems to want what they want, and all the time, and with nothing added.
I like lots of MMOs today, I still rotate between GW2, WildStar, TESO, SWTOR, hech even Champions Online. I just focus on what I like in each one, instead of bitching about what I don't like, and if there are not enough things I like, I move on.
There are lots of MMOs out there, just keep looking until you find one for you.

I agree with players focusing too much on the negative and not more towards the positive. If people could just slow down and see what games have to offer they would have a much better experience imo. Entitlement seems to be the word everyone is asking for.
I have the same rotation pretty much right now except I would put The Witcher 3 in place of Champions Online. GW2 is always there no matter what I do each day though. Rotation keeps gaming fresh for me!
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
most WoW clones are lack luster and dont provide enough content. Lackluster referring to a futuristic game without flight? That's one draw back in my opinion. The combat is another. Sure its fun for a while but when you get into doing the same thing over and over it just adds another element of tedium. Developers follow WoW's formula without even understanding the elements of why it worked. One element is flight which most games do not even have mainly because they are lazy. Take rift for example, probably the most WoW cloned game out there, yet they are too lazy. They dont even fix old bugs. There's been buggy dungeons in that game long before it went f2p that still exist now. Not taking on flight doesn't help either. Underwater was the poor man's version of content. No one went to vashjir or w/e it was called in cataclysm. Yet rift could make it work, yeah right. Games can't beat wow and honestly the developers aren't trying to. They produce enough wow elements for consumers to keep thinking "this could be the wow killer" and let people build up the game themselves while taking all their money. Games that honestly care have more elements that try to make it unique or at least take elements from games that were known to be enjoyable. I dont think anyone ever found quest grinding enjoyable? Meaningful questing was good like to get an item or spell, but questing just to level up is stupid.
Really, blaming players for a game failing, that has to be the lamest excuse ever.
Wildstar failed for all sorts of reasons, primarily i think it was because the game just wasn't fun to play, and that will kill a game faster than anything.
There are far too many fun games out there, of one kind or another, for players to stick with a game that isn't, and that really is the thing that killed Wildstar, the players leaving was just the symptom, not the cause.

its below lineage..a 16 year old no-name mmo

for a giant IP game with a giant budget, that is underwhelming, to say the least
Please continue on why you think a title that is making a profit is underwhelming.
