Reaching level cap is not the same, you can do that and still have relatively little knowledge of the game, and certainly does not give any indication of how much of the games content has been explored, and gives absolutely not indication of anything the character in the game might have achieved, assuming achieved anything other than reached level cap.
That's kind of what I was thinking. I facerolled to level cap in WOW, and I can honestly say not only did learn/discover very little of the game, but I barely knew anything about any class but the one I was playing.
On the flip side, I don't think I reached stat/level cap in Asheron's Call, Puzzle Pirates, SB or Lineage 2, and I definitely am nowhere near cap in EVE, but I can safely say I knew/know those games far better than I know most of the handful of games I hit cap in.

Everquest 1 - Played a Gnome Warrior Main Tank , we got the First kill on Quarm during Plane of Power Reconstructed guild I considered that beating the game haha became the top Gnome warrior in game for a little while
Lineage 2 - was the First person to get A grade weapon on Kain server Highest level Dwarf Bounty hunter for a little while
we had just taken aden castle considered that beating the game hahah
Asheron's call 1 lvl32 i stopped my dial up was nightmare back then.
Phantasy Star Online lvl 100
Asheron's Call 2 lvl68(relaunch 2012 lvl96 soft cap in theory you could reach lvl 150 in probably 20 years:P)
Lineage 2 lvl 73 max lvl was lvl75 i think due to private matters never made it.
WoW lvl60 most easy so far quit soon after that game was up 4 months.
Age of Conan lvl80 super easy
Darkfall no lvls but skills for myself i say i never reach cap for crafting almost dragons armor(played it mainly solo a lonewolf and some friendly clans i could tag alone for mats sometimes and some wars) but few items short to make it quit because of empty servers and cheating.
Guild Wars 2 lvl80 easy
Now im playing Ark: Survival Evolved SANDBOX(70/70 max pops for now) but its kind of MMO feel but not realy lvl64 is cap im lvl20(hardcore PVP server with permadeath so not sure if i ever reach it)
P.S I can't realy rememeber what i realy did in shadowbane was all to buggy for me keep trying but eventually quit so no end game(if you can talk end game in sandbox)
Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

1. That paragraph wasn't added until after my post.
2. Prefacing a thread with "I define MMO as every multiplayer game" or "I define orange as green" isn't going to avoid the criticism that you're using wrong words. If you define completion as reaching max level, someone's liable to call you on it.
He could've simply asked "How many MMORPGs have you hit max level?" If he didn't want people to get hung up on the wrong words being used, he should have. It's not complicated. In fact it's a shorter question and doesn't require explanation and doesn't mire conversation in semantics. Everybody wins when you use the right words to describe things.
Nothing about this is "self-massaging". It's asking people to use the right words and to realize that maybe they do perceive max level as completion (even though it's clearly not.)

I would probably still be playing SWG if it was still up and had regular content (even with the NGE it was the most fun MMO). No other MMO I played had the feeling of exploration I got playing that. I like the Repopulation so far, but it doesn't have the same feeling.
The lack of new content is why I don't play the private servers.

Anyone who thinks "completing" an MMO is an acceptable term is firstly in the wrong genre of gaming and secondly are the reasons why MMO's have gone down the sh*tter the last 6-7 years.

sure, but he never said anything about not enjoying the ride.
everyone enjoys the ride.
he was just asking who enjoyed the ride, but also experienced the endgame that was offered, before they got bored, and what games did you do it in.. ppl just gave their list.
i think beating the game does mean acquiring the best items. provided you are taking the steps to acquire the items like they were meant to be acquired at the time of their release. dungeon crawl, raid, craft, find. buying them with $$$ or having someone give you their leftovers in a ruined economy game because of hacks, bugs exploits, dupes, or the game was dead to the point that the endgame content players farmed so much of the gear multiple ppl have lets say 99 stacks of the same BiS gear sitting in bank so they give it away to random newbies, no.
Time spent enjoying a MMO used to have more value than getting max level. It used to take much longer to level and explore the world, learn from mistakes, earn currency to improve gear, take up crafting etc.
Now it seems to take no time at all reaching max level in a MMO so there is much less sense of achievement, less grouping and partying for common goals and most of the servers at end-game which might not appeal to everyone.
Its because of the changes to levelling pace and most games offering ways to boost your way to max level sooner that this list seems pointless.
A more appropriate survey would be asking how much time people spent in each game, for me I spent the most time playing Runescape - over 4 years, which is what it used to take to get 'max level' or all skills to 99. Now it could be done in a few weeks because of the changes being made to many older games to bring them up-to-date.
Final Fantasy XI used to take over a year partying with 5 other players daily to reach max level, now it can be done solo in under a week.
The settlers online has a slower pace to the action based games, which takes over 6 months to max level.
Did you even bother to read the first paragraph of the OP ...

sure, but now your comparing wooden golf clubs to the newer improved iron ones. what you did at a point in your life, and the effect it had on you, also adapts and prepares you for the next adventure in your life.. watching a murder infront of your eyes for the first time is going to have a big impact on you, in so way. and provide you a vivid memory.. after you are used to seeing it, its luster wears off. somehow i just combined 2 different analogies into 1 not working analogy..
so again, u did the ole, wood clubs vs iron clubs analogy

Multiple max levels in wow at various stages(xpacks) but I think at max 3 at a time. GW2 I have 9 max levels. Other then that.. don't think i got any max levels anywhere else even though i bought and tried a pretty large number of big name mmo's WAR, SWtor, Rift, ESO, Aion, TSW(Altough.. i think I actually finished the pretty damn short main story), (I don't consider gw1 an MMO by any stretch but didn't 'finish' it either) and probably more i simply just don't remember. So i suppose my 'hit' rate is pretty low.

Point 2. It's a general guideline of keeping a discussion relevant, which is kind of necessary when there are so many different forms of completing things in the MMORPG genre. In a sense there is no "complete". So for the sake of discussion there's a line drawn, completely understandable and normal for the sake of having an idea of where that line is drawn (what the OP is trying to ask). It's a pretty simple process to follow... Unless you wanna derail that discussion of course, no one is doing that though, right?

You're missing the point: Why would it matter?
Just like those who've mentioned never reaching max-level in this and other threads, as long as you're enjoying the game that's what matters.
Which leaves us in a sort of awkward spot where I'm the only one in the thread accused of flexing my e-peen, and the only person not actually flexing my e-peen.
Which isn't to say I'm never competitive. I probably cite stats more than most. But I do it where it matters. "Max level" just means you had plenty of time. It's meaningless. Stats only start to become meaningful when they measure skill. Any stat that predominately measures playtime is worthless.

I think you need to play an entire game before coming to a conclusion on the game as a whole. If you don't play the whole thing, you can only review the beginning / half the game. That's important and a big factor in choosing a game, but it's not technically the whole picture.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
I agree with you, Axehilt, but you're not going to win this one. People make games to make money, and the majority of customers... I can't type more that would be palatable. You know what you mean, I know what you mean. It's not going to get better.
