Will they ever bring to XBOX ONE?

With the advent of Windows 10 and Direct X 12, I would hope they would eventually bring this to XBOX ONE for Cross platform play, as confirmed by Microsoft, and as a result, would be on all platforms for the max amount of players. ESO did this and XBOX ONE is proving to be the platform of choice for that game!

Not unless M$ decides to change their policy on allowing titles to share multiplayer servers across platforms.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

Yoshida stated in interviews they would love to bring the game to XB1. But the ball is in microsoft's court.

One of the main features of XIV is it's cross platform gameplay, which microsoft has refused to agree to. They are demanding XBOX only servers, which is a no go for the devs of XIV. Square also stated they do not  like the idea of mandated Xbox gold subscription on top of the sub fee. Microsoft is also refusing to allow non-gold members to play online mmorpgs on the system.

I would not expect to see ffxiv on xbox anytime soon. It seems to be a SE gets everything the way they want it or they will not bring it to XBox1. Which I sorta agree with them, microsofts policies are sorta bs.

No, because they wouldn't be able to use their own servers for everyone.

If it comes to Xbox One, it would mean Xbox users would be segregated off on their own servers, and do you seriously believe there are enough console MMORPG players that want to play this game that way, especially with there being no KB support on the Xbox one for Chat and things like that?

    I don't.

I also don't like controller based MMORPGs unless they have limited skill slots and barely any tab targeting (like TESO, which suits console more than PC, IMHO).  It's very clunky on a console.  Tried the trial.  Lasted like a day before I just gave up.

They do have a Mac port coming out, which piqued my interest, but I absolutely won't let them double dip into my wallet to be able to move from couch to desk to play the game (have to buy two copies of the game and two copies of the expansion, then pay them a subscription, lol... that's like a $120 investment just to start playing if you want to play it on both the PS4 and PC/Mac).

Microsoft opened up cross platform online gaming with windows 10.  You can play people on Fable Legends on PC and xbox one.   But most of you are right the reason it was never made on xbox one in the first place was MS refused.

why? there are not many customers for it on X1. sure there are many X1 players that love to play it, but their number is so litle compared to PS4 and PC fans. PS4 crowd play it cause it's Final Fantasy and that's one of the reasons to own a Playstation for a long time. PC crowd play it cause they are more familiar with MMORPGs.

it will flop on X1. sure i am talkijng out of *** and have nothing to back up my word. but if they do release it on X1, it will flop i can assure you. specially now that ESO is released on consoles as well so X1 players rather play ESO.

    my top MMOs: UO,DAOC,WoW,GW2

most of my posts are just my opinions they are not facts,it is the same for you too.

    Hmm...

The way I understood it, and I could be completely wrong, is that while Windows 10 does run on the XBox, it's not the same as running Windows 10 on your PC.

The PC won't be able to play XB1 games if you stick the disc in your computer. It would be able to stream games from an XB1 (rather like Steam In-Home Streaming, or nVidia Shield Play).

But XB1 games still only run on the XB1, and still will require XBL - and I may be mistaken, but I believe XBL requires dedicated servers with pretty stringent access requirements - I remember it being a big flap when Titanfall released, some countries got delayed/canceled because Microsoft hadn't provisioned servers in their geographical area yet.

SO I don't think Windows 10 will suddenly allow Xbox games to go cross-server, or bypass XBL. I think XBox will still remain a very closed ecosystem, regardless of it running Windows 10 or whatever.

But I would love to be wrong here, I think having it open would be wonderful, and I think FFXIV would do well on XB1 (FFXI did pretty well on the 360, after all, but I understand that was very much an exception to the rule on the part of Microsoft to attempt to pull the franchise away from Sony after it originally released on the PS2).

Microsoft allowed ffxi on xbox because they wanted an mmo on their console and they wanted to try to attract Japanese players, so they backed down.

The same does not apply to ffxiv, they don't care for it enough to break their rules again.  As such it's never going to happen.
