Congrats, they just killed the game even more since the last time I Played the game.
They screw over the founders by not letting everyone know you can lose items from your founders packs that are just cosmetics.
Now they do this by making the game no longer a sand-box as soon as restrictions start getting put into a game the game is no longer sand-box based, you start restricting players because they choose to play as a group.
How about you make two different servers one for players who wan't to play all by themselves, and one for players who choose to play as a group.
The current problem with Albion Online, is the developers I think are have no idea how to design a game, because First they are making it so players have to work as a group or guild just to own land to get a full crafting setup to even craft your own items, now they are adding these de-buffs trying to do two things to break apart group play.

Talk about someone who both doesnt understand AND refuses to read. All founders items were clearly marked from day 1 as lootable. They are by no means powerful nor would you want them to be. If they were strong unlootable items, I bet youd be the first one in here complaining about P2W. Also, NO ONE IS RESTRICTING YOU FROM PLAYING IN GROUPS. There are mechanics you must work around and that is all. What if a Boss had an aoe ability that did more based on how many people he caught in it? Would that make it no longer a sandbox because they are disincentivizing group play? Let me answer that one for you... NO. Its still a sandbox, whether or not you can pull yours out and realize it. Taking out the anti-zerg MECHANICS ( NOT RULES).. would limit solo play would it not.. OMG ITS NOT A SANDBOX BC YOU CANT SOLO?? Im hoping you get the drift , but somehow I doubt this is falling on anything but deaf ears.
Playing in the first beta last year, and i had a blas, very hardcore, now is a carebear fest gear based mmo with zero players skills, safe zones everywhere, flagging for pvp, more instances and more 5 vs 5 crap (is not an anti zerg feature, is a simple compromise for portable devices).
All wasted with crappy choices just to lure in more casuals, the history repeat again, i pass.
I was a huge supported of this game around a year ago. Watched a ton of streams of the test and really like the direction of the game. The current "Anti-Zerg" mechanics do worry me and the constant restrictions being put onto the different zones for pvp reasons is making it hard for me to really get hyped up again. I look forward to the release, even considered buying a founders for this alpha test, just so I could put my hands on it again but still on the fence.
This is definitely the closest to a spiritual successor to UO on the market from what I have seen and that excites me. Some of the decisions to get more mobile players or non-pvp centered folks into the game still worries me. Every time I read something about the restrictions on territory fights and safe zones makes me wonder if this game is having a identity crisis or something. Although when I was a regular on their forums their dev team was very good about communicating on a daily basis and even having Bak in here responding helps prove that point.
This weekend will be the deciding time for me on whether I get the founders pack or not. I was really upset last september when they re-negged on their key giveaway and went straight to founders packs but that has kinda died down for me. As you can see from my sig, I still support the game and definitely recommend it to the gamers I talk to but I still have concerns. In any event I hope the devs get their vision out there and no matter what I will be playing on release, whether I play for a long time or a short time will be completely dependant on the game features and my concerns.
@Cramit845, yes I still remember you and your avatar. Maybe it works out this time. Otherwise the CB is planned a few months after this alpha.
@Zoltos thx for your support. We did this actually from day one, to talk actively with the community, cause we are heavily reliant on it since we don't have a huge name behind our game.
@theguyscomplaining about changes: Not sure which changes you are talking about I can also guarantee you that you still need a group to succeed. But not everyone joins the game in a group and we have to make sure a single player does not leave after one day but that he has some things to do and then when he wants to progress further he joins one of the existing guilds.
Important for us is that the end game content (the highest resources) are ONLY in Full-Loot Open PVP Zones.
And I think adding items which are not lootable for Albion Online would not fit to our philosophy of a player driven economy.
Funny enough I can guarantee you that for a few smart people the founders packs will be highly beneficial because they will keep their items and not loose them and after a year or more they will become really really valuable. Similar to a few of the runescape items which you can now buy for $1000,-.
Having it only based on gear is whats holding me off. Had it been skills/lvls that you always had, with gear on top of that, that you could loose, would have been perfect. But being back to square 1 when dying and losing gear, ain't something that attracts me at least.

This way you'll buy more of their version of PLEX when you die.
Albion is designed to cater to whoever has the deepest wallets. You can buy the best gear with your credit card and kill anyone that doesn't have the money or time to spend all day grinding.
The developers think that because eve online has this system that it makes sense for them. But eve has asymetrical balance between the ship roles so there is a limit to what you can spend to gain an advantage. You can buy a nice battleship but it won't very effective vs small ships ect. In albion you buy the highest tier armor and you are simply more powerful than anyone in anything lower.

Yes, but you still risk loosing it heading out. I have no problem with that. But loosing it, and then havin to buy/grind for new equpiment without having a safe net, like for instance lvls to lean back on, is discouraging.
Yet they have designed the game to be complete Gear based. If someone has a higher tear armor than you it is almost impossible to win. This is half because of the fact this game has a very low skill ceiling so gear matters more than player skill.
Buying in game currency / Grinding for gear matters more than player skill in Albion.
EVE online- When you 1v1 someone in cruisers and one is tech 2 fitted and the other isn't, who do you think is winning? Or when the noob jumps into lowsec and gets twoshot by the hurricane camp waiting on the other side. This game seems just about as gear based as any other sandbox MMO I've ever played and you are purely speculating. New player brings out his destroyer and gets two shot in the first low sec system he steps into. Same deal.

Heavily gear-based mobile phone game with character abilities based solely on gear, with full loot PvP. Nope! Any game designed so that you effectively lose the ability to play how you want because some asshole killed you and took all your stuff isn't worth the bandwidth to download it.
This is clearly not your forte, and you're a massive carebear. That doesn't mean the game itself is bad, you're just not in their target market.
