Lizard Shits can actually be tried in the United States, because they are effecting US citizens and US commerce. Their country cannot protect them from the wrath of the US justice system, fortunately.
All it takes is to get said justice system's attention, which a grand scale cyber attack on a corporation will absolutely do.
This kid can pretty much kiss the next several years of his life goodbye.
So basically, you know absolute jack shit about international law, and particularly the international law as viewed in today's climate where the U.S. "justice" system is considered by many other countries to be worse than any boogeyman. The U.S. can't touch the kid. They can pass whatever "judgement" they want, the kid won't be standing in a U.S. court when they do and Finland most certainly will never send a 15 year old kid to the U.S. to face punishment, especially when the kid is looking at terrorism charges.
Finland has no choice if they have an extradition treaty with the US. If hes 15 oh well wait 3 years and have him extradited. One way or another this kid and others like him will face justice. You can only run so long before it all catches up with you.

While they might not have any grounds to send a 15 year old kid to the U.S. there is an extradition treaty between the U.S. and Finland.

Smed is not an idiot. He is a victim of some very serious crimes in which there is absolutly no justice for yet. I hope he continues and makes this a landmark case so these good for nothing kids understand the "games" they play with people's lives are serious with very real consequences. These "games" are very serious international crimes. If it means I can't hop on Landmark a couple days, fine. There are too many victims of these crimes and not enough being done. The physical counterpart of what this guy has done are theft, fraud, identity theft, harassment, stalking, etc...

Yes they have one, but extraditions are by no means a slam dunk and the requests can, and usually are contested in the court system of the country where the person resides. The details also vary greatly from country to country and typically exclude crimes that have been adjudicated already in the other country.
The kid in question is 17 and his two year suspended sentence was based on being found guilty of 50,000 crimes. As I read the Finland-US 1979 treaty, he would have to be charged with something not already covered by those 50K offenses that IS covered by the treaty (and not everything is) for there even to be a chance of extradition.
Additionally many courts in other countries in recent years have been leaning heavily against extradition to the US due to their view that the US is playing fast and loose with international law over at Guantanamo.
So yeah, treaties exists but good luck with that.

You're missing the point. And that's don't play the damn victim card, after you ran your mouth instead of actively doing something about it. I.e. Lawyers etc. etc.
Nobody is denying that he was the victim the 1st time. But his credibility as the victim diminishes to the instigator once he starts running his mouth ignoring the consequences because he wants to puff his chest and beat his drums.
He's getting into a pissing match with a bunch of kids. He's got the money the go to lawyers etc etc. But instead he ran his mouth, pissed the kiddo's off by talking shit about one of their own and now they're doing what pissed off kids do and that's rebel against him.
As a individual, John has every right to be pissed and sound off. As a CEO, he should have shown some restraint since his comments impact his customers and his Russian bosses. Speaking of which....Russians in my experience aren't as quick to appeal to the courts for relief...their replies tend to be more direct and personal. It might be time for the lizards to crawl back beneath their rocks.
we can say the kid made some russians lose money, well legally it will be hard to punish the kid but with the money they have they can "send a message" when the dust settle..

You're missing the point, he didn't play "the victim card" he simply expressed how he felt about the sentence. there is no reason to STFU because kids may retaliate. Being afraid to speak up is nothing more than giving these kids the power they want, which is something to be feared... Secondly they didn't attack Smed here, their actions were an attack on the populace just trying to a game.

If you know how to access them you could shut down about anyone on the internet within an hour. Install anything you want on almost all windows PC's or place incriminating files like child porn.
A recent backdoor that was sold to the US government was found when the company that made the backdoor got hacked (ironic, i know).
This botnet DDOS is child's play compared to what is lurking out there.

I'm not saying that criminals should be allowed to do what they want, I'm saying that someone that represents a company as a president should know that there are consequences to actions, even if those consequenses are enacted by a criminal element. Lizard Squad is a bunch of idiotic script kiddies, for sure, but if I'm a president of a company that is vulnerable to hacking and DDOS, I'll make sure that I don't antagonize the criminal element that can exploit those vulnerabilities. Especially not with petty remarks and threats against a minor in another country (as most Americans have no clue how the law works in other countries).
How would John Smedly feel if we held his parents responsible for his foolish upbringing? Should we hold his parents responsible for his foolish actions today? Of course not! I agree that the parents of a minor should be held responsible in some way for a minor's criminal actions if that minor is treated as a minor in the eyes of the law. But we call what JS did trolling by Twitter. What exactly did he expect? A bushel of roses?

While I agree with you, sometimes you need to poke the bear.
Should he have made those comments in a public forum? probably not for the reasons you mentioned.
However, I strongly suspect that if additional charges were brought against this person or group of people, and those charges were going to be taken seriously, that group might have very well lashed out in the exact same way.
We can't live lives where people get to do what they want to and no one faces them because they don't want to face the repercussions.

These guys are self admittedly not crusaders for some greater good, they do it for the LOLZ... Blaming Smed for their actions is playing right into their game, that's exactly what they want. That's the problem here, blaming Smed for these attacks or anyone else who would speak against them. It would be no different than blaming Smed, if they retaliated against Daybreak after seeking those legal proceedings against this kid, quietly or otherwise....
You're quite simply empowering their actions in doing so.

Did you actually read what these "kids" have done to A: Smed personal and B: the gaming population.
"I normally don’t weigh in on subjects relating to me personally, but I will this time. I’m extremely angry that the Finnish justice system chose to let Julius Kivimaki off with a 2 year suspended sentence. This guy is the worst kind of bad news.
He’s been involved for years in every kind of terrible thing you can imagine including Carding, hacking, swatting people all over the world. He’s also participated in a major way in DDOS attacks that caused a lot of grief for gamers and a lot of economic damage to the companies that make and run games.
He was the guy that brought down my flight with a bomb threat. I’ve heard the entire recording where he convinced an airline customer service agent there was a bomb on the plane. He also in conjunction with others has sent me pictures of my father’s grave with nasty stuff on it. I’ve had my entire credit history put out on the internet including my SSN and my families info. We’ve had multiple social networks and other things hacked and had my family members called.
I’ve also been swatted (multiple times) and had over 50 false credit applications submitted in my name and had to deal with the ramifications of what happens to your credit when this kind of thing happens. It’s not good. And to top it all off they decided to submit false tax returns.
So to put this bluntly – I want this kind in jail for a long time. You shouldn’t be able to do crap like this without any hint of a consequence. I plan on doing everything in my power to see him get what’s coming to him in court one way or another. What he just got convicted of were over 50,000 separate incidents of hacking and other nastiness. This has nothing to do with the downing of the plane or the DDOS stuff he did or the things he did to me (not just me btw he did this to a lot of other people too). Those cases are still pending, but they have him dead to rights.
So you guys can debate this.. and that’s all well and good, but meanwhile this shit is real to my life and my family’s life and I’m sure as hell not lying down for it for a second. I’ve been working with law enforcement to put him and others into jail where they belong. Some of them are minors which makes it tough. Most of them are outside the US, which makes it tougher. But I’m patient and I’m going to be relentless about this.
We can't live lives where people get to do what they want to and no one faces them because they don't want to face the repercussions.
We live exactly in such a society, people can always do what they want, society is what stops them due to consequences. You steal, you only go to jail if your cought. Most people don't do that not because they are so good at heart, but because they don't like the consequences. It's all about the consequences. And in this case it wasn't the consequences that were dictated by our 'society', it was dictated by something else, call it the 'scriptkiddy code'. What exactly do you expect will happen if you go into a biker bar and start talking 'smak' about one of their members that just went to jail?
JS is guilty of the same mentality that infects the scriptkiddies in the world, just because i'm 'faceless' on the internet and save behind my phone at home on the otherside of the world, there will be no consequences. Most of the time those people are right, untill you try that against the wrong person...
This wasn't some quiet kid that went postal on the internet, this is a convicted black hat hacker that has made DDOS attacks against your company before and he still has friends on the outside. You can't stop those kids from making DDOS attacks, but you can stop poking them...
What would legal action do against the kid or his parents? It's not like they make enough to make a dent in the damages they caused, hell they wouldn't even make a dent in the legal bill JS would make on behalf of Daybreak. The only thing it would do would be to polerize the kid against JS and Daybreak, instead of 'learning from his mistakes and bettering his life' he would be forced into a life of crime because JS broke his parents financially. I'm not saying the kid is in the right, I'm saying there are consequences even if your right.
If your hate for a person who ruined your worthless video game life is so deep that you can't see how serious the crimes committed against him are, you need not throw stones for your little glass house. You're probably a much bigger piece of filh than you think Smed is.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
Blaming smed for this is ignorant. Blame the people doing it the parents of the kids who're doing this the justice system and the govs around the world that let this happen without real consequences. This is the very definition of terrorism but no ones getting physically hurt so no one cares. They should extradite these people to the US where they will face real time for crimes against US citizens and the US economy doing this can cost millions if not billions for companies around the world.
Comments
Finland has no choice if they have an extradition treaty with the US. If hes 15 oh well wait 3 years and have him extradited. One way or another this kid and others like him will face justice. You can only run so long before it all catches up with you.
While they might not have any grounds to send a 15 year old kid to the U.S. there is an extradition treaty between the U.S. and Finland.

Logic. I punch you in the mouth because of this comment. You did not deserve it.
If you rightfully voice your various displeasures about it, you deserve a second sock in the mouth.
Got it. Sounds legit.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What if after the first punch, he said he was coming after you and your parents? Would he deserve a second punch then? Becuase that is what Smedley did.

Your logic is flawed. No one deserves to get harassed, regardless on how much of a douche they are being.
Besides, he isn't being directly affected by this hack. They're targeting DB servers, not him directly. We DB customers are being affected. A kidult gets into a pissing contest with kiddies, we gamers suffer.

John Smedley:
They keep making better fools! (As in making something foolproof)
Oh and threathening a minor is not classy. Threathening a member of a black hat hacking band that's just been conficted is just foolish. The results were completely predictable and while they might be illegal, it's still the fools vault for not seeing the consequences in advance. You don't put you fingers in the powersupply, you don't stand out in the lightning storm with a big metal rod, you don't magnetron the cat to dry it... There should not be a manual for this, this is common sense. Or does anyone here think that screaming at a mob of religeous zealots that there is no god is a good idea?
John Smedley isn't a victim, we are the victims of a fools action. Because someone couldn't do the smart/adult thing and keep his trap shut!
Just to clarify, you're supporting the view point that Smedley should just bend over and take whatever these criminals want to give him? He's certainly not my favorite guy, but when you start advocating that criminals should be able to do what they want with little to no consequence, the world is about to become a pretty messed up place.
He's not threatening a teen, he's threatening legal action, there is a huge difference. Your approach says nothing more than, give them the power they want, so I can play a game.. Completely asinine...

If you think this is worrisome i will not tell you about the back-doors in browser plugins, router hardware or your beloved Windows OS.
PS: Let's not forget the back-doors in the Software of your car.

You don't poke the bear. You certainly don't poke the bear when the rest of us are standing right next to you.
However, sure, making comments to a group that can attack you easily might not have been the wisest thing.

Sorry, but all I see is "So I'm coming for you Julius." in a Twitter message.
I'm not paying for PS2 so some president of a computer game company can go crusade against black hat hackers. I'm paying for a service and they can't provide that service because their president didn't know what the better part of valour is. You want to start legal action against some kid and his family? Do that discretely.
This group has been bringing down these as well as other servers, for a long time now. Provoked or unprovoked, these attacks will happen regardless of what Smed says.

Smed"
