Do you mean would it have been better? Personally I love the garrisons, they beat standing in front of the Stormwind/Orgrimmar banks and give me something else to do. What really makes people look foolish is when they say they like the expansion except for the garrisons. Simple fix is just not do the garrisons and go back to standing in front of the bank.
People spent 10 years shouting "we want housing!" and then they finally get the best instanced housing system any MMO has ever done and they start complaining about the housing being too involved and grindy... just goes to show, never trust what people say they want.
The garrisons are not player housing. They are a mechanic that is tied in to the entire expansion. It killed professions and a big part of the economy.
If I came back to WoW I could not even start the Tanaan questline because none of my toons have a level 3 garrison. Sure, it was my choice not to invest in a level 3 but why should I? I hate the garrison. It is a glorified facebook game. Your followers have more exciting adventures than you do in Dreanor.
If Blizz made true player housing or even guild halls were you could decorate, show trophies for guild achievements and just hang out with guildies it would have been far better.
When an entire expansion runs through the garrison what you get is the majority of the player base despising them.
Nah. Garrisons ARE Blizzrd's take on player housing... housing on steroids which, IMHO, is infinitely better than the pointless fluffy housing most MMOs do that appeal only to interior decorators. It's the best take on housing any MMO has done so far.

Combining grind with player housing certainly would be Blizzards take on it.
Personally I would take FFXIV's player housing over garrisons in a heartbeat, but I wonder how much aesthetics make a difference. I spent most of my time in the Horde garrison which looks like garbage compared the Alliance one. Perhaps I would have had a higher opinion of it had I played Alliance.
Out of curiosity how much time did you spend with garrisons? A lot of people were quite charmed by garrisons when they first came out. It's when the grind sets in that people turned on them. I don't really know anyone who played a long time that had a high opinion of garrisons.

I did what has become my habit with every WOW expansion since Cata: I visit for 3 months and then carry on with whatever my main game is. I'm just a WOW tourist now Maybe that's why I don't get too worked up about WOW hot-button issues any more... it's not my home and I don't want it to be my future home although I do still like it enough to drop in now and then.

People have more fun going after Pathfinder because the CEO makes so many cringeworthy statements. That said why Greed Monger didn't at least beat out one of those Asian games that almost no one had any expectations for is confusing. (Maybe they completely forgot about it like I did.)

I agree with the Greed Monger nomination over a couple of the ones in the article.
I'd add Embers of Caerus to that list as well. Two "developers" that took the money and ran.
For me, though, nothing was more disappointing over the last few years than the announcement about development halting on World of Darkness.

Oh crap, that one died too?
I remember that KS, the guy did seem very genuine in their video.
Don't care about any on the list. The game I did care about was World of Darkness Online which unfortunately was shut down by CCP. CCP lost a lot of potential subs to not only WOD but some would've re-subbed to EVE or checked it out for the 1st time if they haven't before. A very poor decision by CCP IMO.
All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care. Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
Originally posted by Effin_Rabbit The fact that people are actually paying a subscription for a game in development is disheartening. The Force is weak with them.
ESO players are apparently okay with paying for content patches. With subs required for alpha/beta and DLC in an MMO this genre is going down a very weird path.
This is the first phase of our launch of the game. Early Enrollment began after Alpha testing was complete. During Early Enrollment many key game features will not be implemented or will be implemented in a very basic state. Based on feedback and interaction with the players the Goblinworks team will be iterating on the design, prioritizing the order that features are added and incorporating suggestions from the community into the design.
Open Enrollment will follow Early Enrollment. We expect to begin Open Enrollment early in 2016. Open Enrollment will represent the point where we believe the game is comparable to similar MMOs developed in an old-fashioned, opaque, "ship it when it's done" method. Open Enrollment will feature territorial battles for Settlement control, and more robust graphics and UI.
So, you added a game to your list, that is like a Beta. yah.... thats nice... but.... WHY?
WoW : WoD gets the number 1 bad game spot because of grind, yet there are so many posts in this vary forum claiming that the old school grinding with very little reward was the best system and even some of the big shots of this site chimes in with them. This site is becoming a bad place to get proper game reviews.
Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.
Wod for me for sure is disappointment worst ever. But it is pretty complex matter. I loved 1st month of game play, really enjoyed ever minute in game .... then suddenly completely lost any wish to login back after i got my 4th max level alt. With previous expansions usually 6-7 months before I needed a break. Up to MOP I had 22 alts, all maxed out, mainly through questing, some horde alts speeded up via instances, ... it took me with previous expansions about half year to have 10 maxed out alts, now 4 in 1 month. OBVIOUSLY world is smaller with less quests ... but faster leveling to compensate. Very wrong move. Besides at first glance nice idea returning to past ... on the other side it is just like BC2.
draenor is piece of crap pandaria was 10 times better every two months story raid scenario pvp content in draenor patch 6,0 highmaul and black rock. patch 6,1 selfie cam twitter integration, patch 6,2 final raid very scrapped timeless isle(tanaan jungle) shipyard now same like pandaria 12 months to next datadisk another difference pandaria 45 euro draenor 55 euro more money less content pandaria 1 year with patch every two months draenor half year with patch every three months
1 - If we are including expansions then NEVERWINTER MODULE 6 takes the prize as the No1 population reduction event.
to paraphrase: "never in the field of online conflict was so much lost by so few"
It was though the game designers sat down with the deliberate remit of wrecking the game - and they succeeded.
2 - SKYFORGE (and others) - Now this is a personal opinion (but aren't all people's posts on here personal opinions?).
It's here because of the apparent growing trend to remove healers from games. Sure Skyforge has "support" classes - which don't heal. Only shield buffs.
I'm sorry guys - if it don't heal it ain't a support, no matter what marketing gibberish the relevant game's publishers put out.
We've seen what happens in dungeons without these specialized classes - it just becomes an almighty aggro lottery with mobs bouncing round like lottery balls.
It was originally done to try and avoid the tank/dps/healer trinity - yet Skyforge do have tanks/dps - but just this gimped support idea.
The game's Tanks have access to the normal range of abilities for that type of class
Same for the Dps
But not the healer (sorry scrub that ), should use the trendy "support" description.
Well even that stalwart of non-segmented classes GW2 is introducing healers.
So Skyforge you are definitely on my list in this trend to do away with a class type that has been at the core of my mmo enjoyment for years.
Playing mmorpgs since the very beginning and this is no surprise to me. Trash clone after trash clone after trash clone. But people in general are pretty stupid so they are ok with it ^^ Milk it for a year then move on to the next clone. The quality of the mmorpgs is nothing anything compare to the beginning ^^ The only one I am still waiting for is Blade and soul. Will be pretty much be the last one I think
I don't play WoW anylonger mainly because even thought he's not technically part of the team they are STILL keeping the Ghostcrawler decision matrix in their design choices which are all highly questionable in their design and garrisons is one of his babies.
That being said this article is highly misleading.
First the title shouldn't say "The Top 5 Most Disappointing MMOs of 2015" because that suggests it's the full MMO releases of 2015 not their expansions and not older games with new patches or expansions.
Second, when you list WoW the entire game isn't disappointing just the portion that has garrisons. The rest of the game is fine for leveling and seeing the lore of the land. Just because you don't like garrisons doesn't mean this game belongs on this list. Even non-fanboys like myself can tell the difference here. This article was poorly written and even more the proper wording wasn't considered before it was posted.

A list of a couple MMO's I've never heard of, topped with WoW's WoD, which came out last year.
Is this a list of MMO's that might have once been good, but are crap the last 7 months or something?

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
It's hard to tell what is happening with it, if anything. Their website was shut down over a year ago, which coincides with their last Facebook post.
I was looking forward to it, but if they are still alive, they aren't telling....

yet, another 5 list... full of BS?

haha maybe they should do a top 5 games that aren't a total dissapointment
might be more of a challenge :P
