The only way to heal in Skyforge is to do enough damage........
Hope another player didnt grab the Healing Orb with his 90% HP while your dieing........
or
Out of Combat.... or after Dead
these are the only 3 ways to heal beside a few class-self skills for necro and some others......
If someone wants to play a SUPPORT HEALER this game is the wrong choice.
All a dedicated support class player from other games can do in Skyforge is watching his group die....
So you healer class players... dont expect to enjoy this game by casting 40% armor Buff on your group..
If you are used to watch and love GREEN numbers above the heads of your group members, it wont happen

What's your point? The game mechanics would make it very hard to be a healer anyway, and there was never mention of healing as a feature in the first place. People complain for days about how no games are innovative, or different, but when one does come out that has different mechanics, suddenly it's crap because the Blessed Holy Trinity isn't on display. It can't be both ways....
Bottom line, don't judge one game and your experience based on what you can or can't do in another unrelated title.

Watch the lightbinder in this video and how he places the shields and fights. There is hardly any healing orbs in this fight either. It takes skill to play well. I think the tank dies and these two a cryomancer and Lightbinder fight this damn thing alone. I myself died to this bloody boss ,anyway you see how the Lightbinder manages to keep the Cryomancer up at one point when he is close to dying until he gets the healing orb. The shields are dependent on the Lightbinder's stamina BTW so the higher your stamina the better your shields.
Towards the end the Cryomancer also dies and he is left killing this boss alone. Problem was that the Cryomancer was taking most of the aggro which meant it was very hard for the Cryomancer and seriously why does this fight have so few healing orbs.
I don't play Skyforge but I feel this is a bit about the self understanding of a supporter in general.
On classic games the healer would just spam their low cooldown heal all the time. I remember a particular game with an "apocalypse happened on the school grounds" theme where it happened that 1 damage dealer was backed up by 3 healers.
That team was bringing down like 10 other people without problems because their heals were so strong. Balance can be a bitch.
Anyway my point is I wouldn't find satisfaction anymore just in spamming heals. I like the elementalist on Gw2 who will heal, cleanse conditions and provide buffs on changing his elemental attunement and creating combo effects.
The greatest new experience I had was Abathur from Heroes of the Storm. You hide your body somewhere and then you can start a symbiosis with any other person on your team all over the map.
This goes far beyond keeping an eye on your party members. You have to keep the events on the whole map in mind and decide who can benefit from your help the most.
The possibilities are limitless and it's the most fun I had with supporting in a long while. (Given that Abathur is not actually listed as supporter because of the major damage the symbiosis can deal)
Abathur is the one with no sense of humour in Heart of Swarm when Sarah tried to joke with it.... he was kinda wrinkly.
Heroes of Storms sounds like a very good game if it has such cool classes in it but I suck at point click and MOBAS.
This feeling is actually legitimate, from someone looking at it logically.
I keep on seeing Lightbinders get yelled at for not healing or using their shields constantly, when there is a long cool down on that ability. Even when you try to put everything in stamina for shields, it relies on your team not to be stupid and avoid attacks / not stand in fire. Which means 99% of the time the game is a pain to play unless you play with friends.
People kept on telling me Lightbinder was a healer, so I decided to try it out first (and there was no real notice by main sources that this game wasn't a trinity, as they specifically mention Tank / DPS / Support in the class sections), so I went about with that assumption (especially with other games calling healers support, such as some MOBAs / MMOs and the like).
The only way to properly "heal" in the game is to purchase revive orbs for others and try to maintain that aura that instantly revives someone when they go down -- though it has an extremely long cooldown thereafter and people yell at you to revive them over and over again.
I don't think "they didn't say there were healers" is an excuse, when there is extreme precedence to the contrary in most other games, especially when support is generally considered a healer of some sort in 99% of games. In Guild Wars 2, for example -- or any other game that doesn't support Trinity -- they typically say it outright on the box or the site. This would be especially true if they actually did have Tanks in the game with support next to them. Whereas I wouldn't make the assumption if all I saw was "DPS" next to class names with no Tanks and Support. Due to this not being the case, there were hundreds of people saying that Lightbinder is the healing class to new players of the game (not realizing they were new themselves if they believed such), which only set the mindset in stone for those actually taking the time and asking questions about healer classes on the forums and in game.
That said, I really have no problem with a game lacking a healing option, but it does a poor job in telling people such both in game and out. I would've picked paladin right off the bat (which has a shield option as well, go figure) if Lightbinder was supposed to be a damage dealer with weak shields, than get yelled at throughout their 1-2000 prestige career for not healing and people in the chat saying how terrible Lightbinders are for not healing or keeping shields up and trying to do damage instead. Though perhaps people have understood the role more by now, as time went on.
Still, it's a huge misstep when it comes to communication and the precedence / assumption that pretty much every one has going in and for new players 1-2000 prestige that reinforce it further by still having said mindset and not playing the class for themselves to perhaps understand otherwise. Even a mention in game through dialog and in training that there are no healing classes and essentially only Damage and Tanks would've been nice. If that many people are confused at start, then there is something wrong with communication as word of mouth research and reading roles carefully (which, at the beginning of said description -- if I recall correctly -- is says "aid your party" followed by constant implications of being vital for long fights in supporting your team... and them saying they only listed a few of the lightbinder's abilities) did nothing for these people. How can anyone think Lightbinder is anything but a healer after asking around, seeing tanks, DPS and support, and then reading the class description with those in mind? Which leads to the confusion of non-playing Lightbinders for the first few weeks, and actual Lightbinders as they level up, wondering when they'll unlock a healing spell until realizing. That is, if they make it long enough in not getting yelled to heal and put shields on everyone at the same time.
So being upset that one spent the time playing -- especially if they have a healer mindset -- is understandably upsetting. Personally I just unlocked the class I wanted after learning this and played that until getting bored of the grind.
I suggest to try it anyway - just stay away from the player vs player mode. The people inside have that moba mentality where a major focus of the gameplay is spamming the own team with hate talk.
Play against the AI and you will have a decent (even if somewhat too easy) and relaxed experience of teamwork.
Absolutely agree with Yaevindusk that the game does a piss poor job of explaining things. Everything from the atlas to stats, order , the equipping system that constantly tells you to switch out blue rings for green one with higher prestige when the blue ones have better stats . Also making people think Lightbinders can heal when they have zero heals spells and their shields cannot be chain cast on people because of cooldowns.
They have made the game unnecessarily complex with the stats ,the currencies and prestige system that will make a lot of people quit when they end up making mistakes.
The "support" class and what's expected of you is just a small drop in the sea - worst thing you can do is waste time on the class just to realize that it can not do what you expected it to do. In my opinion, it does not take tong to find that out - just checking the abilities would give one enough info. On the other hand, there are other, more "deep" systems which are not that visible and might screw one's game forever (in the state the game is now). I think those need to be addressed as soon as possible.
The game needs a lot of tuning - the transition between different prestige brackets should be a bit smoother, the stat importance should be better explained, the class roles should be made more clear. If you go in without any prior reading, there is a great chance that you'd screw up. Either spreading too thin, or starting on the "wrong" of the three starter classes (all three seem viable but i'm so happy i picked the cryo, my friend who picked the pally and then figured out that he has to stick with him left the game), or gaining too much prestige from order before understanding "good" prestige gains and "bad" prestige gains. If you mess up (and there's huge chances you will) you can't reroll. You can't delete your character. Your spent sparks may be lost on subpar stats, and it's terribly hard to recover and go on a different path. You can't un-learn atlas nodes, your prestige will be too high to be able to do anything which has good rewards. Only solution: que for PvP, win or lose the rewards are the same. Use those and the PvP bags to build on another class. Stupid system if you ask me. Sounds like Diablo II with being able to have only one character which you can't delete.
I'm happy with games that let the players figure out the mechanics for themselves but in this case many mechanics are broken. When you add people's expectations to that - tanks need to taunt everything, support (seen as "healers") need to heal all the damage - you get a mess. That's how the public groups are now in the game - without friends, skyforge in a group is terrible. And about PvP, i'd maybe touch it again after they fix a lot of broken abilities, especially that slayer ability, blood harvest (heard it's changed on the RU servers)
Been playing this as LB
From what I've seen, and popular comments in game, Skyforge is another Wildstar waiting to happen.
"I like the one hit wipe mechanics in dungeons!"
"yes so do I"
"me too"
.....short while later......
"where's everyone gone?"
This is absolutely true. Also, it does not work well with public groups, I'd bet that most players are soloers which enter a 5-man once every few days. On top of the problems the game already has, I don't think it's a good idea to design the game to work against your biggest source of income (most hardcore players i know get to the weekly limit in 2-3 days without premium, they'll never buy premium, makes no sense).
Not sure what bad games you guys been playing but in FFXI you never spam heal or you would be dead.
As to conditional fights yes sometimes a certain class might look good because it has an ability that is useful in that fight.Point is this game like so many "pretends" to be a mmo but really is just a single player game.
Perhaps that Lightbender kept the Cryo alive,i don't doubt that since i played Cryo and it is imo a crap class. However again eluding to my previous statement, tehre might be a time in game when it is better suited to a certain fight but imo this game does not take any skill to play,it is a spam game and you can only use your combo once the meter is recharged outside of that recharge window it is all spam spam.
Sure even as a Cryo i can toss down a ghost image or whatever it was called but that is why games like this suck because it is a trade off,i toss that ghost image but then i don't do any combo damage so ya a trade off accomplishing nothing.
I would much rather see auto attack because i find zero enjoyment spamming my left/r mouse buttons none at all.Geesh it was one of my peeves in MOBA's you can even watch them play and all you hear is the mouse button spam clicks.
Now it might be better on other classes the game was so boring i never got to that point but even my combos felt meaningless in fights.Every single fight imo is 100% identical spam spam look for the healing twisters then go back to spamming again.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Just to refer back to this boss fight, boss aa animation during p1 lasts about 2-3 seconds (not to be all elitist and counting everything here), and the adds spawn in p1 can be damaged by boss aa, adds share aggro with boss at beginning... So it's just standing in front of boss, lure adds to boss, boss get ready to swing, move away from boss, boss swing, standing in front of boss, rinse and repeat. During p2 aa swing timer is probably not changed but instead of aoe swing it changed to line swing and spawn adds changed from melee to caster, which creates moving water on the floor that slows you if you eat a full combo. So it's about exactly the same thing except aa won't hurt adds and you have to avoid eating the water full combo. Just a sidenote EVEN IF you get slow you can easily move out of line aa cuz of how LONG the aa animation is...!!!??? Why do you need heal, at all?? I've seen people moving around the map all over the place and when I aggro the boss I could hold boss at the same place not moving much at all.
All these cries about Skyforge have no dedicated healing makes me think of an idiot I happen to group up with long ago in D3, where difficulty was hard and you die to elite pack over and over again to the point of losing level... Well yea, he said he's a dedicated HEALING MONK that won't attack mobs but standing there and spam some so-called heal skill that heals about 20% in 10sec cd where elite pack would take you 100-0 in less than 2 secs if you don't watch stuff...
Different game, same mentality.

People not wanting to worry about stat upkeep and the rules of combat become healers. Instead of worrying about the fight they simple are health monitors. On-call nurses if you will.

wrong guess... bla bla bla sorry..... dont play lotto dude..
Lightbinder 6000+ Prestige
and i hate to see all these DPS and Tankers die even with all my shields and buffs.
i love playing healer and i love to see green numbers on my party.....
and now dont tell me how to use my LB buffs please and dont try to explain me how this game works..
I am missing a healing class, thats no crime right ?
The classic MMORPG healer player wont stay in Skyforge.
One problem w/ the orbs, I certainly haven't noticed a method to where they fly ... sometimes they drop right on you and whether you want it or not, you got healed.
There are times where you'd like to avoid it and leave it for someone else who's a little low and movement/lag/random luck "forces" you to take a heal you don't really need.
Dont shield dps! Just dmg reduction everyone. Imo with a LB ppl wont die! And everyone can revive! (2min or something cd for everyone)
I dont miss a healing class but if they will implent a healing class I would play one xD
Im a classic mmorpg healer and I love skyforge so far its refreshing, always played a healig class in every mmo
The bad part about skyforge is, that you do not need a tank or healer in 3 man dungeons really. Both just slow down the dungoen progress. Sure it is a diffferent thing in 5 man instances, but still, you do not need a LB even there. I am maxed out in the knight class with around 13k prestige and can tank most 5 man instances without a lightbinder or alchemist. I am pretty sure I did not even team with an alchemist since there is hardly anyone playing one.
I can shield myself effectively and the healing orbs are sufficient enough to keep me alive if I dodge all those hard hitting specials.
I rather take another warlock, archer or slayer for dps because neither alchemist nor LB do decent dmg. I started with lightbinder and while you can survive pretty easier in solo content the dmg gets worse the higher your prestige goes even with maxed out gear for your profiency.
Some classes are way b ehind when it comes to their role. Necromancer feels underperforming when I see archers and slayers for instance dishing out huge dmg. Not talking about warlock who is insane.
As far as support goes, they should have some way to at least spawn a health bubble for the team.
I have been worrying about my Lightbinder and the DPS output I seem to be lagging compared to before . The fights are dragging out because my dps is poor and I die after making a mistake when I get weary of dodging and moving.
So witch is good for DPS huh ? I may abandon my idea of keeping my Lightbinder till end raids and the Necromancer class unlock too for the Witch instead. I hear she is a tough class to play ,I must go check more video and read more threads.
