I've been trying to remember two dragon mmo's I played. I can't remember their names.
1) You started in the starter zone. Made your way across grassy lands to outpost with npc's training. Did something there beginner like can't remember what. Did some quests around outpost. It seemed important to pick nodes. Grassland, trees, mountains in the distance. Eventually you head out toward the main city. Along the way there is a temple. Some quest near it gives you a DRAGON EGG. You get stuck with this stupid egg for the rest of the game doing all kinds of dumb stuff to try to get it to hatch/grow. The first dungeon was next to the main city at the base of a cave. I got a free goat mount to ride. More impressive was a bat mount which you could actually fly on. But it was a Cash Shop game that expected you to pay money for more mounts etc. I quit because of the cash shop and the dragon hatchling took to much care. I think dragon's first stage was an egg that had wings that floated followed you? Anyone remember this game's name?
2) You start in a pioneer fantasy town. There are dragons everywhere outside town. You could catch and keep dragons as pets. You tried to catch the best dragon you could. Game was okay but the lag was horrendous so I had to quit. Anyone remember it's name?
It is sad that #1 sounds like every MMO I've tried lately.
'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.
When your head is stuck in the sand, your ass becomes the only recognizable part of you.
No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

Name is Dragon's Prophet, It has some interesting ideas and the combat was pretty cool.
Well Vanguard SOH, when it first came out I was really tempted to get it, but never did. Then my curiosity for the game came back after several years. I ended up buying that and played it for a few months. Then I heard it was getting shut down. So like a month or 2 after that I just stoped playing it since they were ending it.
That game woulda been great, but it was just to empty and even when I played I experanced several bugs
Oh well heres hoping Pantheon RoF will bring that type of gaming back /crosses fingers.

It's made by Runewalker, who I think is the same company that developed Runes of Magic.
Ken Fisher - Semi retired old fart Network Administrator, now working in Network Security. I don't Forum PVP. If you feel I've attacked you, it was probably by accident. When I don't understand, I ask. Such is not intended as criticism.
There is two games I really miss playing that's for sure. I played both games to death till EA shut them down. While there is a emulator version of Earth & Beyond it's just not the same thing.
Originally posted by Helleri Archlord...It's kind of a game that has forgotten itself. it's devs did make a hard effort at one point to restore the games relevancy. But I think that noise may have fallen on deaf ears. Thing is when I played it, I don't think anything was particularly wrong with it. It was just outdated. Other things like GW, Aika,, then GWII came along and did what it did better. And so it's just there but pretty much empty (last I looked).
man archlord is one i really liked for awhile. I think that game is the only game i played where sieges actually really really meant something. money was so important so owning a castle was huge.
Most people probably never heard of it since it never actually launched after the beta.
It was largely based on the UO-style skill system. Their goal was to be the first MMO to have everyone on the same server.
TBH, I don't even really know why they cancelled it. I'm not sure if it was technological limitations or funding or other...
It seemed like it had some potential, especially considering how many people are obsessed with skill-style systems.
Would just like to say this thread has been a great read, so thanks OP!
Yeah I remember WISH's trailer and going wowie! Don't know what caused it to die like that.
The Matrix Online (original pre-SOE version) - While the combat was hard for me to understand, the skill system was great! Rift reminds me of it with the soul system.
Roma Victor - the first MMO i could recall in that period. Now that i think of it, it seemed like it was going to be similar to Wurm Online and the future Mortal Online, just Roman.
NEOCRON & N2: The Dome of York - my first true mmo love, played for 4 1/2 years. A gritty, cyberpunk mmorpg and FPS which always looked very similar in UI/graphics to Deus Ex, a pretty deep housing system with places to live, even underground! It had a complex and very rewarding crafting/player run economy and clan wars that felt like Planetside (you could purchase cars, hoverbikes, a haloesque jeep +MG and fucking tanks! You could even build vehicles, for you or the clan.) I hope this game is still going or has a player-run one because I need a fix asap.

WISH was a good game. A few of us played the hell out of the beta and pretty much everyone was excited to see it get to launch. Then Mutable Realms went kaput and WISH was cancelled.

Horizons..
I would have to say Dofus. It's been out from 2004, but it's still a great browser MMORPG.
If you're interested, I've compiled a list about that topic right here, http://www.lowspecgaming.com/browser-mmorpg/
Vanguard
Horizons
Puzzle Pirates
Granado Espada (Sword of the New World)

Age of Conan
Vanguard
Warhammer Online
I miss them all
Best browser mmo I have played for graphics and gameplay, fun character building skill system...but had memory leak that ruined it.
Oh, and it was post apocalypse work with evolved animals and mythical creatures that you could pick for your class race.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Forgotten mmos, that are actually good...
Fallen Earth
Pirates of the Burning Sea
Firefall
and a few more...
