To those hoping for something like NWN, it isn't exactly the same. SCL is much more online based and really expects you to group up with other players. You can't have custom character companions in your campaigns (at least not yet or if ever) and you can't make custom loot. It is a much more streamlined dungeon crawler for four people and a DM.

True, you could do more in NWN but focusing on small groups do have advantages. You can make the combat just right for 4 players, and the DM function based on threat counters wouldn't have worked in NWN.

I think that if the game sells really well it is the start for something good. They will both release expansion then and inspire other devs to try to do something similar.
