I wish MMO players would treat their games the same as Evolve - 289 current players at Steam

I wish MMORPG players would do the same to shitty, buy to progress faster MMO's. Maybe then we could finally see a game again where progression, time invested, and actual "realm pride" come back.

Everyone nowadays are a special snowflake.

Economies are designed by traders at wall street, to maximize profits selling virtual pixels.

Loot and difficulty are designed by the above.

Megaservers all over so you can more easily control the market by changing 0.0001% drop chances.

Then you let the whales and top 20% of players who care about the game use real money to buy currency, undermining any progression in the game by "those who do not have the time".

Which in the end leads all the mediocre content in the game, to have zero value. Because you can just pay to get there.

Before any of you say, "BUT GOLD SELLERS!"

What stops companies from making hard, difficult and time consuming quests, dungeons, raids and etc?

Well the answer to that is... We pay to skip it, so why should they?

Never ending cycle...

Then again, maybe the MMO genre has just become a "I just want to play with my friends no matter what after work genre."
Which most likely is the reality and game devs are just following it, and it will just get worse and worse for players who look for games where your time invested actually matters.

Post like this are a never ending cycle also.

There has never been more quality MMORPGS on the market then we have today.

There has never been more players playing MMORPGS then we have today.

The mojority of players enjoy today's market.  We are left with a small fraction of players/old vets who can't get over the fact MMORPGS have passed them by and we are left with this never ending cycle how it's not good enough complaint threads .

OP: Could you give a little detail on how Evolve plays in to this post? I sort of thought that since it was in your title that there would be some detail about the game that would give insight on how to improve the MMO Genre.

I do not mean this with any sarcasm or malice. I long for the old UO and EQ days of gaming.... and if Evolve is good, I might actually get in to it.

I dunno about you but I see lots of games in development that seem to be taking some risk.

Saga of Lucemia just for one.

    How many do you need?
