But I'm not saying your wrong any part in what you want, there abit amount people out there want the same thing you want.
Seriously this would increase the lose of subscribers even more...
I mean what's there to do in the moment in the game? There is 1 upcoming PvP season and after that? I mean even the PvP season isn't enough to keep people cause let's face it... PvP in WoD is kinda shit. For a first time in 11 years since I've been playing the game I actually feel like I might stop playing it. Waiting almost a whole year without any content is just ridiculous at best.
I sincerely hope that the game would come at worst April/May maybe even early June cause otherwise I can definitely see WoW finally starting to die slowly...
It's not because there is that much MMORPG's out there that can compete, but because more and more people start to prefer MOBA's and FPS games like Overwatch over MMORPG's simply because there aren't any "awesome" MMORPG's out there.
We can say a lot about the old SOE, but at least they took monthly subscription MMO´s seriously and delivered regular content updates to keep people busy.
Next to that they were second to none when it came to seasonal content, with their always being some kind of event live during the whole year in EverQuest 2 for example. The excellent housing system in EQ2 also kept people busy.
WoW has none of this. They release an expansion about once every two years, with often just a single big content update about 6 months after that, to complete the expansion content and that´s it.
And this laziness, pure cash grabbing is starting to show to more and more disgruntled WoW players! More and more are getting fed up and leave the game and Blizzard has nothing to show for it to stop this exodus of quiting subscribers.
And with the recent news of them buying King ( a free 2 play mobile crap money grabbing studio ), just shows where their future priorities lie.
I myself I am reaching a point in time, where I seriously consider just uninstalling the battle.net client (to free up diskspace) and be done with Blizzard, as they are out of touch and lost their spark long ago.
Because where EQ2 service was outstanding, the SWG one was horrific bad at maintaining a game, releasing new content, fixing old content, and I am not even touching the customer treatment here.
Even Blizzard hasnt managed to bleed 99% of your playerbase in 1 week.
That record is in solid hands of old SOE and their dictator Smedley.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
*Edit: I see they plan to release it on or before september 21th 2016. WoD got released November 2014...so they again miss the mark of "releasing an expansion each year" by one year.
Blizzard has more important things to do then provide content to WoW. I mean just look at all there new games they are releasing and then they plan to turn around and bring back all the old classics they made.
I really think this will be the new norm for WoW. 2 year expansions without much content spent between the expansions. Your talking about a engine thats now 10+ years old. I wouldn't doubt if 100s of programmers have had there hands inside it makeing tweaks and changes. They have reached a point where you can't really graphicly update the game much more then it already has without spending a massive amount of manpower and time to do so. They can't really just increase the polys and textures of the new expansions as its going to make the older areas of the game look even worse. And to attempt to go through and make a pass on every texture + model in the game would just be suicide at this point. Kind of a dammed if you do and your dammed if you dont situation they have reached.
I think that is there biggest issue on getting expansions out faster is that the engine has become a beast to work with and the time investment to resources is just not worth it at the end of the day. Not when you have Hearth Stone bank rolling on a small slim team with next to no real cost compared to WoW.
But it is interesting they are going to attempt to stretch it for almost an entire year before releasing the expansion. I bet a July / August release to ride the coat tails of the movie. That gives the money a month of real play / hype time before dropping the expansion. Makes alot more sense unless there is some other major MMO / MMO Expansion coming out in September that they want to pull people off of.
That was not the case with WoD. Shareholders were told pretty early on that WoD would release before the end of 2014. And it did. And it was buggy; in some peoples mind unfinished. Same deal with e.g. TESO; the release date was set many months out.
And now, if accurate, we learn that Legion will launch before 21st September 2016. Another case of the release date being more crucial than whether it is ready or not.
To me the date says end of Q3 profit target. Hopefully there internal schedule is accurate but that wasn't so with WoD, it wasn't so with flying and as for annual expansions!
