I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story. So PM me if you are starting one.
What are these high quality sandbox games that would be featured in the sandbox forums?
If there was even one, please tell me because I love sandbox gameplay.
(there isn't one)
So the obvious solution is to censor what remaining sandbox games we have into oblivion? I guess you are saying if there isn't a sandbox game you like then no sandbox game should exist at all?
This is not about having a seperate website for sandbox games, this is about having a seperate sandbox and themepark discussion subforum. You don't "feature" games in a subforum. It's a subforum! You know, those things people go to to create threads and reply to other threads?
it seems that some people hate sandboxes so much that they would like to erase any mention of a sandbox from the internet entirely. This is kind of the point of having a seperate subforum, so themeparkers can troll somewhere else.

I voted yes because sandbox people are toxic, not the other way around."Themepark" fans rarely go out to bash sandboxes but sandbox fans just spit on everything that's not a sandbox and throw around random insults about the intelligence of poeple playing them.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

Apparently you haven't read the 5001 "themepark is better than sandbox" threads on this site.
- there are far too many subforums already - there is no agreement on what makes a sandbox exactly - many games have elements of both sandbox and themepark
Just no no and no
What makes a sandbox a sandbox would have no bearing on your ability to post in either subforum. It would just make it easier for me to avoid themepark threads altogether.
We'll also need forums for F2P, B2P, P2P, PvE, PvP, soloing, group play, raiding, action combat, tab -targeting based combat, turn based combat, other types of combat, isometric games, RP, crafting, trading, fantasy games, scifi games and whining while we're at it.

Except those are all minor subcategories that almost all games belong in. Themepark and Sandbox are major categories. Also, you don't typically have F2P/P2W players bashing P2P players everytime they create a thread.

I love sandbox gameplay and I'm patiently waiting for a quality AAA sandbox MMO to be released.
In the meantime we just have themepark games with sandbox elements or games that aren't really MMOs in a traditional sense (like Minecraft). Or we have crappy half-done sandbox MMOs like Mortal Online.
I have a question- who decides how much sandbox elements qualify a game to be in this subforum of yours?

Why would a game be in a subforum dedicated to sandbox discussions? Games have their own subforums. This is literally "Discussion" turns into "Discussion", "Themepark Discussion", and "Sandbox Discussion". Nowhere is it implied that what makes a game a sandbox is relevant to having a subforum titled "Sandbox Discussion". Though there will probably be threads in all 3 subforums arguing that point.
I'm yet to play a "sandbox" MMO that was anything but a theme park without the rides. As far as I'm concerned, there is no way to split them into sub-forums.

Pretty much this.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
No because then it will be further divided into MoBA, FPS, Strategy, and it will never end.....Sandbox isn't a big enough enough genre to get its own anyway.

What does a game have to do with subforums?
Is this an honest question or do you intend to derail from valid points?
Forum topics are moderated. If there isn't a general consensus on what belongs in a sub-form then it cannot be moderated. There is no purpose of a sub-forum in an un-moderated forum.
I say yes. It will make it easier to discuss sandbox elements and games. Make the theme park forums moderated so that only site mods can create the threads, and make the posters use just those threads in order of their level on the site.
MMORPG players are often like Hobbits: They don't like Adventures

If anything, many of those are far more significant categories as they are clearly defined and understood. For exmaple, it's seems a lot more common that someone would PVP or PVE exclusively than for soemone to exclusively play along the dividing lines you suggest, especially when everyone has a different definition of where that line is.
Alos, you'd probably end up with a sandbox forum full of early replies of "that's not a sandbox! go post in the other forum!" and then the rest of the thread arguing why it is or isn't a sandbox, rather than ever addressing the OP.

What does a game have to do with subforums?
Why are you selling this so hard? If you were trying to do this fair, you would just place the poll and let the chips fall where they may.
After many years, we just got this forum cleaned up. Many sub-forums were removed. No need to go back to where we were. Learn from the mistakes of the past as they say!
Kyleran: "Now there's the real trick, learning to accept and enjoy a game for what
it offers rather than pass on what might be a great playing experience
because it lacks a few features you prefer."
John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in
the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you
playing an MMORPG?"
Yes, so that the sandbox crowd don't come into a themepark game topic and constantly cry and bitch about why the game should be sandbox.
Without the sandbox people the theme park threads would just be posts about how the game was fun but now the quests are done so I have to do pvp
Nothing wrong with it that way you are down playing. It feels like today everybody has to constantly ask for changes to things. Players would walk into the paradise and demand changes then blame the devs for implementing them.

The same people would be doing the exact same thing regardless. It would just make it easier to focus fire
How would it fracture the genre? You just wouldn't have to swim through a sea of toxic themepark spam to find sandbox posts.

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.
